Chapter 21 Skipping School

The mother and daughter exchanged a few more words of concern about eating well before hanging up. Chen Jiaojiao thought for a moment and then dialed home again.

Aunt Chen answered the phone. Chen Jiaojiao told her that Li Ke hadn't come to school and asked if Li Ke was resting at home.

Aunt Chen replied that she hadn't seen anyone or seen anyone return. Chen Jiaojiao expressed her concern for a few words and then hung up the phone.

Aunt Chen came from her hometown to take care of Grandma Chen. According to seniority, she calls Grandma Chen "auntie." Therefore, Aunt Chen usually has a strong sense of ownership in the Chen family. Naturally, she dislikes the existence of a burden like Li Ke and often orders him around.

Although Chen Jiaojiao didn't know what Li Ke had gone to do, she felt a little smug when she thought that if Aunt Chen knew, it would mean that the whole family knew about her skipping school.

Li Ke heard the phone ring and saw that it was Chen Jiaojiao calling, so he let it ring without answering.

After finishing her meal, she went to the small commodity wholesale market and bought a bunch of cheap but sturdy clothes, including styles for men, women, young and old, as well as a bunch of men's shoes in different sizes.

I saw a cosmetics store and went in to buy a bunch of cosmetics, especially skin wax. It was like I was buying a bulk order; I bought a whole box of eighty boxes.

The clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories she used to wear were all unwanted by the Chen family. She had collected them, intending to sell them secondhand. Now, to avoid leaving any trace, she definitely wouldn't wear or use them anymore, so she would have to prepare something new.

The items at the wholesale market were not expensive, and Li Ke picked out only the most affordable ones. He bought such a large amount of stuff, and it only cost him a little over three thousand yuan.

After packing his things, Li Ke went to the used car market and negotiated the price. He bought a used box truck with a load capacity of less than two tons for 43,000 yuan. He didn't need the other party to register the vehicle or go through the transfer of ownership.

After test driving the car for a while in the open space behind the market, Li Ke paid a deposit of three thousand yuan and agreed to pick it up in two hours.

Li Ke took a taxi to the nearest shopping mall, where she bought some mid-to-high-end clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories. After leaving the mall, she spent another 100,000 yuan.

Li Ke calculated that he had more than 80,000 yuan left to use, so he went to a small car dealership that sold small cars and bought two electric bicycles and two motorcycles, one men's model and one women's model, spending another 16,000 yuan.

She didn't care about brands, only practicality. After test riding it, she asked the owner to send the bike to the used car dealership and load it directly into her van.

Li Ke is still a minor, so she can't register the vehicles yet. She doesn't intend to use these cars openly; at least, she won't let the Chen family know she has them.

Li Ke drove the truck along a side road to a deserted one, turned off the engine, and put it into his spatial storage. He then changed into clothes that were easy to ride and rode his newly bought electric bicycle back home. He had only 68,000 yuan left today, so he had to save that money.
