Li Ke slowly raised his left hand. Seeing that the other party still did not move, he lowered the binoculars in his right hand, raised both hands together, and walked towards the other party. There were several big trees ahead, and perhaps he could find an opportunity to hide.
As Li Ke walked towards the man, she kept glancing around to observe the situation in other areas ahead. She still couldn't find the stone marker. The place she was in was within Qiu Feng's protective perimeter, but she didn't see any of Qiu Feng's people.
Li Ke slowly approached the other party. When he was about half a meter away from the big trees, the other party fired a shot at Li Ke's right shoulder, which was closest to the trees.
The distance was too close, so Li Ke could only slightly turn her body and fire at the other person with both hands at the same time. She still felt a jolt of pain in her shoulder. The other person had hit her, and Li Ke had also hit the other person.
Gunshots rang out again, and Li Ke, unable to finish off his opponent, could only quickly hide behind a tree.
Li Ke, who had just taken cover behind the tree, hadn't made a move when he heard a burst of intense gunfire. Something was wrong, so he first checked his surroundings for any threats before taking out a small mirror and peeking at the situation from the side.
The man who attacked Li Ke earlier was also injured and was hiding behind a rock, firing at the person who attacked him. Not far above, several people were hiding in the woods and occasionally firing a few shots at this place.
The enemy had people hiding elsewhere, firing back. Li Ke could roughly make out the two firing points, which were coming from the ground.
Li Ke had just taken out a machine gun from his backpack, intending to send a bullet to the person behind the rock, when the gun barrel almost got hit. It seemed that someone was still watching his side.
Putting his gun away, Li Ke pretended to pull a protective patch out of his pocket, wiped the bullet hole in his shoulder, and then patched it up.
Those who wear bulletproof vests are lucky; apart from a slight bruise on their shoulder from the impact, they don't break any skin. Li Ke felt relieved for half a second.
She was just about to check in the mirror to see if the person was still in the same spot when a bullet suddenly shattered her mirror. But it didn't matter; she had already seen what she needed to see.
Almost at the same moment the bullet shattered the mirror, Li Ke's machine gun darted out, firing at the sniper rifle before snapping back to the mirror. He then pulled out another mirror to check the situation; the person behind the rock was already lying down, motionless.
Bullets flew in again, and Li Ke dodged them, circled around to the other side, and fired continuously at the firing point. He also took the opportunity to throw two bombs at the firing point on the ground.
The firepower on the mountain coordinated with Li Ke's, and soon the woods quieted down. When Li Ke peeked out again, the people on the mountain had already run down, and Niu Dazhuang's shout came over: "Hey—little brother, it's all done."
Li Ke mentally cursed him for being crazy, but remained in his original spot. Instead, he took out his binoculars and looked around again, this time more carefully, to see if any fish had slipped through the net, and to look for three more stones.
Since they were already here, even if they encountered some ambushes, Li Ke still wanted to search. That Boss Cheng was always persistent about this place, and Li Ke thought the idea that there were supplies was quite reasonable. Moreover, there were people guarding the place, so maybe there really was something there.
Li Ke was watching when he suddenly heard Niu Dazhuang exclaim, "Holy crap! You're faking your death to trick me!"
When Li Ke turned to look with interest, Niu Dazhuang was punching the man lying on the ground. His squad was also holding three men. Li Ke wiped the rain off the lens of his binoculars and left it hanging around his neck.
After closing the distance with Niu Dazhuang and the others, Li Ke noticed that Niu Dazhuang's helmet visor had a hole in it, and even through the visor, he could see that half of his face was covered in blood.
Li Ke grimaced in discomfort at the sight, but looking at his energetic appearance, she asked without any sympathy, "Half of your face was blown off?"
"No, God really favors my stunning good looks." Niu Dazhuang put down his fist, stood up, and gestured with his fingers to Li Ke: "It was just a hair's breadth away; the bullet was about to go into my skull. It was a close call!"
Li Ke nodded: "It was quite risky. You'll have to be careful in the future."
Niu Dazhuang smiled, clearly pleased, and said, "Thank you for your concern."
The group moved to a cave. Niu Dazhuang wiped the water off himself at the cave entrance, took off his helmet, and asked Li Ke, "Little brother, what are you doing here? Did you also spot these suspicious people? You were able to spot them from this far away; your defenses are incredibly meticulous."
Li Ke countered, "When did you discover them? How long have you been guarding this place? Have you figured out why they're here?"
Niu Dazhuang didn't keep him in suspense. He casually tossed his tattered helmet onto the man who had tricked him, then sat down next to Li Ke. "We haven't discovered them for long, only two days. Look at this cave; we dug it temporarily for our rest days. We have to thank you for having Song Xian warn us to be careful, otherwise we might not have found these four bastards and let them sneak around and accomplish their mission. As for what they're doing here, we haven't found out yet. These guys are very cunning; we can't get close at all. If we're not careful, they'll disappear without a trace."
Li Ke watched as he casually pulled open his coat, about to tear off the clothes underneath, pulled a small first-aid kit from his pocket, and tossed it into Niu Dazhuang's arms: "Use this."
Niu Dazhuang grinned and thanked him, then bent down to clean his wounds. Li Ke walked over to the bound prisoners and first looked at the one who had initially pointed a gun at him but then pretended to be dead.
This was a young man, not very old, with short hair and a dark face, looking like he had a Southeast Asian appearance. At this moment, he had a bruised and swollen face, and his eyes were blurry as he looked down at Li Ke.
