Song Xian and Qiu Feng came up the mountain with a map they had drawn themselves, hoping to persuade Li Ke to choose a place among them as a backup base.
“This place is closer to the sea, and a large grove of small trees has appeared nearby. In a few years, the vitality there should be even stronger. Jin Ce has also seen the soil there, which is better than ours, and the climate is also slightly better, so the plants grow faster there,” Qiu Feng said to Li Ke, who was looking at the map.
"What about security?" Li Ke asked.
Qiu Feng: "They have two small bases, but they are not close to us. They have no intention of merging with us and just want to leave each other alone. Da Zhuang has already investigated their population situation. The two bases together have less than three thousand people, and their strength is much weaker than ours."
Qiu Feng's base has 70,000 people, and Song Xian's base has grown to 5,000. Compared to them, these two bases are indeed much weaker.
Moreover, Qiu Feng and Song Xian have become much closer in recent years, often exchanging information on technology, manpower, and materials. Such good neighbors are hard to find, so they discussed moving together.
Li Ke frowned slightly: "You've all been listening to the radio lately, haven't you? Some troops have already been withdrawn from the border areas. The notice tells us to unite our forces and defend ourselves in the coming period. It also lists the locations of several bases, and anyone interested can seek refuge there."
Qiu Feng and Song Xian exchanged a glance before saying, "We heard that too, but we have too many people, and those bases aren't easy to find. The terrain has changed, and transportation on the roads has been damaged. We're now almost self-sufficient in some supplies, so we don't plan to join those bases."
Li Ke nodded: "It's fine if we don't join, but this news also indicates that some foreign forces will enter certain areas, and the situation may change drastically in the future. In the past few nights, some planes have been flying overhead, and we don't know their intentions. You should make the necessary defense preparations in advance. As for the new base, you should think about how to improve its operational convenience and defense level. As for where we go on the mountain, we'll make our own plans then."
After Qiu Feng descended the mountain, Song Xian stayed behind and asked, "Brother Li, are you also planning to leave?"
Over the past three years, Song Xian had also wondered how many people were actually on the mountain. He had heard other people's voices, but he had only ever seen Brother Li. However, despite his doubts, he always knew not to ask questions he shouldn't ask.
Looking at Song Xian, who had become much stronger, Li Ke could say he was a completely different person from the one she had rescued on the hillside three years ago.
Over the years, Li Ke has provided them with some small amounts of support, which is negligible compared to the resources in her space. Therefore, Li Ke has always regarded them as good neighbors and never as a force she has cultivated.
Deep down, Li Ke felt that they were all potential partners who could break up at any time. He was already grateful that they had been able to get along peacefully for so long without being probed about his boundaries.
But if she really couldn't stay here any longer, Li Ke didn't want to continue forming groups. With the appearance of plants, Li Ke wanted to go out and explore, hoping to break through her stagnant physical barrier.
Of course, there's another point: Li Ke also felt that life needed some changes, that he should go out and see what the world had become, and find a place more suitable for living.
Li Ke did not answer Song Xian's question, but only told him to take good care of everyone's life. Song Xian is not alone anymore. He has a girlfriend, and the two are currently in a good relationship and have no plans to have children.
When Li Ke came down the mountain, Song Xian even pointed out his girlfriend to her. The girl looked very healthy and resilient. Li Ke told them to live a good life.
This summer is still very hot, but the good thing is that its highest temperature did not exceed that of previous years, and was even two degrees lower than last year. In contrast, the temperatures of previous years, whether extremely hot or extremely cold, have been breaking records.
Before the temperature dropped, two more earthquakes occurred, causing Li Ke's walls to tilt and crack. As soon as Li Ke felt the earthquake, he put away the bunker, ran to the ground, put away the villa, and quickly hid in his spatial dimension.
Some of the people and supplies at the Akiyama base had already been transferred, so the underground damage wasn't too severe. However, a nearby mountain collapsed, blocking two of their exits, which forced them to leave earlier than planned.
When they came to say goodbye, Li Ke gave them some more supplies. That night, he sat on the wall and watched his two old neighbors leave with their long convoy.
Li Ke took all his belongings with him, leaving only the high wall behind. He had put a lot of thought into building it; it was thick, tall, and made him feel very safe.
Li Ke recorded some videos and took a few photos around it before riding her motorcycle down the mountain after sunset, bidding farewell to the place where she had lived for nearly four years.
At the Qingyuan base, Chen Jiaojiao had just seen off her husband—well, she had just buried him. Don't misunderstand, Mo Ze died of illness. Although Chen Jiaojiao hadn't taken good care of him, she hadn't really done anything malicious.
Three years ago, not long after Chen Qi left, Chen Jiaojiao and her mother Li Zhenzhen saw her mother-in-law off. One snowy night, she slipped and fell, and never woke up again.
As the son, Moze had no doubts, because he knew that his mother had gone out to find him another woman who could bear children. When he heard the news of his mother's death, Moze actually felt a sense of relief.
