The convoy that came out of the city struck up a conversation with the people on the other side of the dead-end road. Li Ke saw a car turn around and head in their direction. Ignoring Mo Zuo on the other wall, he jumped down from the wall in the blink of an eye.
Mo Zuo also realized something was wrong, and immediately followed suit, jumping off the wall. He looked around, but the person from before had completely disappeared.
"Listen up, you people inside! We're counting to ten. Come out now, or we'll blow you up!" the newly arrived convoy shouted to Mo Zuo.
Mo Zuo had already taken off running when he heard the first syllable, and two seconds after Mo Zuo left, Li Ke, who was hiding in a blind spot, also appeared out of the space.
The loudspeaker was counting down, and as soon as it reached nine, Li Ke ran and casually snatched up several cars in the aisle. He figured it was better to take advantage of himself than to let others benefit.
Li Ke ran with all his might in the darkness, and just as he reached the house where Xiao Guang was hiding, a loud explosion occurred not far behind him, and flames suddenly appeared.
He ran into the house, picked Xiaoguang up, covered her eyes with one hand, and put away the motorcycle with the other: "Xiaoguang, there are bad guys fighting ahead, we can't leave for now, we need to find a place to hide. Close your eyes and don't talk, I'll take you to find a place to hide."
Xiao Guang touched Li Ke's hand and nodded. Li Ke had already picked her up and rushed outside.
She hadn't run far when she saw another figure in the distance. She didn't have time to pay attention to that person. Recalling the route she had taken when she came out, she ran back the way she came.
Meanwhile, lights followed from the main road, and soon after, two more shells exploded behind them.
Li Ke ran deeper into the area without stopping, while Xiao Guang, like a silent doll, lay quietly on her shoulder.
Half an hour later, Li Ke felt that she had finally shaken off the vehicles. She did not relax and ran for another hour before rushing into a densely populated residential area.
Li Ke ran to the innermost residential area of the community, found the back door, roughly checked the exit, and then went back to find the nearest small building and entered the first floor.
Just as they found a place to rest on the second floor and put Xiao Guang down from their shoulders, they heard noises downstairs again. Li Ke thought for a moment and felt that it might be Captain Mo, whom they had encountered before. He really was a persistent ghost.
Sure enough, just as Li Ke arrived at the stairwell to prepare for an ambush, Captain Mo's voice came from outside: "Brother, we mean no harm, we just want to ask you something."
After seeing Li Ke running away on the road, Mo Zuo chased after her for a while and then confirmed that she was not related to the convoy that appeared in the city.
Li Ke, holding a gun, hid outside the security door. After thinking for a moment, he shouted towards the stairwell entrance: "Come up and talk."
Hearing the sounds coming from the hallway, Li Ke frowned and asked again, "How many of you are there?"
Mo Zuo replied, "There are two of us in total, me and a brother. We haven't met the others yet. Don't worry, we are not unethical people."
Li Ke: "Come on up."
As soon as Mo Zuo and another person appeared at the entrance of the building, they were met with the dark muzzle of Li Ke's gun: "What do you want to ask?"
Mo Zuo and another person slightly raised their hands to indicate their harmlessness: "I want to ask if you know anything about the people in the city? How much do you know about them? I have a brother who was being chased by them and may have already been captured. We are not familiar with this place and want to ask our brother about the situation."
Li Ke, holding up his gun, said, "What a coincidence, I'm also just a passerby who doesn't know the area. I was passing through during the day and was about to leave the city at night when I ran into your shootout. I really don't know the answer to your question."
Mo Zuo's masked face showed no change in expression. He thought for a moment and then said, "Could we two borrow a spot next to you to rest for a bit? Don't worry, we don't mean to disturb you, we just want to stop and rest."
Li Ke: "Go downstairs, it's up to you."
Mo Zuo didn't move: "I think you're both quite skilled and physically strong, so why don't we team up and take care of each other?"
Li Ke stared at the other person without moving or speaking. Mo Zuo took off his backpack, unzipped it, and revealed the supplies inside: "Consider these things as our greeting gift, and as a token of our sincerity."
Li Ke doesn't lack these things. The people on the other side probably don't believe she's just a passerby, and they don't know how many of them have been arrested. They're trying to pester her and get some information out of her.
Li Ke didn't want their things: "Just find a place on the second floor yourselves, and don't bother me."
At the blocked road, Fu Hua had a gun pointed at his head: "Where are the supplies and people you mentioned? We fired three cannons and didn't even get a blast? Are you kidding us?"
Fu Hua waved his hands repeatedly: "No, no, what I said is absolutely true, there is not a single falsehood."
The people who went inside to check the situation also came out and shook their heads at the leader: "No, we didn't see a single car in there, let alone any living people. Captain, we've been tricked by this old man!"
Fu Hua broke out in a cold sweat and hurriedly explained, "What we said is true! You can see for yourselves, the traces of crossing the bridge and the tire tracks are still there! Those people must have sneaked away while we were talking. If I were playing a trick on you, would I dare to come and talk to you? I would have run away with my men long ago."
The people inside the city were also puzzled. They had only come out with their men after hearing the gunshots, since this was their territory and the invasion by outside forces was definitely a big deal.
"Can those people fly or do magic tricks? They can sneak away, but where's the car? We didn't hear a sound," the man squinted and then questioned Hua Zhi.
