Xiao Guang leaned close to Li Ke's ear and pushed up her helmet: "I know a place nearby where people can hide. It's a basement, and only I know about it."
Upon hearing this, Li Ke immediately asked Xiao Guang to give directions. More than ten minutes later, the group arrived at a cluster of low-rise bungalows. They walked into the alley for a while before entering a small courtyard. The courtyard was not large, with a total of six bungalows on the left and right.
Xiao Guang didn't let Li Ke into the bungalow. Instead, he ran to the cement sink, pulled out an iron ring from underneath, and yanked it back hard, revealing a dark entrance.
Li Ke opened the entrance completely but didn't rush down. He stood there for a while, observing to make sure there was no one inside and the air was fine, before jumping down with Xiao Guang.
The basement had been carved out into a three-bedroom, one-living-room apartment, with some furniture inside, but nothing else.
Mo Zuo jumped down with Mo Cheng on his back, Li Ke blocked the entrance, and Xiao Guang lit two candles for lighting at Li Ke's instruction.
Only then did Li Ke have time to carefully examine the person Mo Zuo had put down. Mo Cheng looked very unwell, with a furrowed brow, bloodstains around his mouth, and his clothes were dirty and torn in several places.
Mo Cheng has a handsome face with deep features, and with his eyes closed, he looks quite young.
Li Ke carefully compared them in her mind. She and her half-brother didn't seem to have any similarities. Mo Qing's face in her memory had long been blurred. She only remembered that the base commander, who was far away, seemed very upright and serious.
Mo Zuo lifted Mo Cheng's clothes, revealing a patch of bruises on his chest. He had touched it before and thankfully, his ribs weren't broken, but now it looked like the injury was quite serious.
"Do you have any medicine on you? Our backpacks were lost," Mo Zuo asked Li Ke.
Li Ke took a first-aid kit out of her bag and told him to use it as he saw fit. After all, she was the one who injured him, and since they were all sitting together, these small favors were nothing.
After being delayed by sandstorms for two days, Gao Ren's team finally got back on the road. However, they had only been traveling for a short time when someone reported that a convoy was chasing them from behind.
Upon hearing this, Gao Ren immediately ordered the entire convoy to move forward at full speed and reach Zhong San as soon as possible. They still had Mo Bao'er in their hands, and once they entered a safe area, they would have no worries about controlling Mo Qing.
