The piercing alarm suddenly rang out, and Ruan Chun's body jolted, stopping her movements. Li Ke also abandoned her plan, deliberately making her body even weaker as she leaned against Ruan Chun.
She asked weakly, "What's wrong? What was that sound?"
Ruan Chun frowned as she listened to the ringing bell, but did not answer Li Ke. She helped the weak Li Ke up. Only then did Li Ke realize that Ruan Chun, who seemed petite, was actually very strong. Despite being much taller than Ruan Chun, Li Ke was easily lifted up by her.
Li Ke was helped down onto a very soft waterbed by Ruan Chun. The bell outside was still ringing. Ruan Chun touched Li Ke's face and said with some regret, "You should get some sleep first. I'll go see what happened."
Li Ke looked at the two stiff, dead chickens in the space, not knowing what kind of extract it was. She closed her eyes, pretended to be unconscious, and stopped responding to Ruan Chun.
Urged on by the ringing bell, Ruan Chun got up. Li Ke felt the spot where Ruan Chun had sat rise again, and Ruan Chun's footsteps faded away.
She reached the doorway, instructed the people outside to guard the area, and then the door was closed again, and the bell gradually stopped ringing.
Li Ke lay on her side and waited for a moment. After confirming that there was no sound nearby, a surveillance detector appeared in her hand.
After confirming that there were no listening devices, Li Ke sat up from the waterbed and, still wearing socks, began searching for other exits in the room.
The room was lit with many aromatherapy lamps and an air purifier was running. There was also a partitioned room inside, which was a bedroom. This bedroom was more residential, with a bed, wardrobe, and dressing table.
Li Ke glanced at the contents and felt that this might be where Ruan Chun usually rested.
Ignoring all that, Li Ke finally found a vent above and next to the bedroom. He put out a stepladder, opened the ceiling, and peeked inside. There was still enough room for him.
Without thinking, Li Ke climbed up. If Ruan Chun came back, she couldn't continue to pretend to be unconscious and let her take off her clothes, so she decided to take the initiative.
Once inside the pipe, Li Ke retracted the ladder into his spatial dimension, replaced the ceiling, and then climbed up the pipe.
Recalling what Ruan Xuan had said, that those she didn't accept would be sent up above, Li Ke kept climbing, searching for a pipe to ascend.
After going up one floor, Li Ke casually glanced at the rooms next to him. They were all empty. Thinking of the earlier ringing of the bell, those people should have been summoned.
As he continued climbing, Li Ke also hung the monitoring detector on his waist, wearing headphones, and monitored the area as he climbed.
When Li Ke climbed up another floor, he finally reached the top of a conference hall. There were many people gathered in the room, and at the head of the table was a middle-aged fat man with a somewhat gloomy face.
Three men and two women were seated to his left, and three chairs were empty. There were also two rows of empty cushions below. More than a dozen maids and servants stood silently on both sides of the hall. At this moment, the middle-aged fat man's sinister gaze was fixed on the entrance, clearly waiting for something.
Li Ke then took out a translator with earphones from his spatial storage, temporarily put away the detector, and put on the translator's earphones.
The spot she climbed to was somewhat off-center, allowing her to see only the middle-aged fat man's side and rear. Li Ke put on a gas mask, took out a precision sprayer, and carefully sprayed it several times towards the outside of the ventilation opening.
This is something Jin Ce came up with, extracted from those strange fish. He said it has excellent anesthetic effects, but an overdose can be fatal, so he usually dilutes it.
Li Ke also had some undiluted stuff, but it had a strong smell and the quantity was relatively small, so Li Ke didn't use it.
The conference hall was large, and Li Ke wanted to hear what these guys would say here. Spraying pesticide was just something she came up with on the spur of the moment, and she didn't know if the small amount she sprayed would have any effect.
After spraying out about half the bottle, Li Ke put away the spray bottle and carefully crawled forward, intending to change to a different vent so she could see more clearly.
When Li Ke carefully climbed to another opening and carefully placed the spy camera against the airflow of the exit, there were already two more people below.
The two men stood at the front of the hall, addressing the man at the head of the table: "Great Chief, the Gotans haven't retreated yet. They've brought in reinforcements this time, and many of our men have died. They're dropping bombs on the shore, demanding that we share the spoils with them."
The chieftain asked with a grim expression, "Have you found out who is helping him?"
The two who reported the news shook their heads: "Nothing yet. We only saw a very tall man in black robes next to Gotham, and Gotham was very careful with him. The artillery that attacked us this time was all made by the United States. We suspect that they hired white forces."
Chief Nguyen Bang's gaze turned somber as he pondered. The place where he now resided was originally land, but it was flooded after the natural disaster.
He didn't leave; he continued to have underground dwellings built here, which eventually led to its current state. And all of this was naturally inseparable from the support of some people behind the scenes.
Gotham was a ruthless guy just like him; if they could, they would both want to kill each other.
However, the fact that Ruan Bang had the help of white people behind him made the Gotans very wary. Although they would occasionally harass Ruan Bang at the border of his territory, they always knew when to stop. This time, the heavy firepower attack was a rare occurrence.
Gotham's behavior was simply because he had someone behind him, but he knew that monsters were lurking in Ruan Bang's waters, so he dared not go into the water to attack.
