The guard leader felt a chill run down his spine; he had almost forgotten that the woman who had been brought in said she had planted a bomb in the solar energy mine.
He led his men to the bottom quickly, stood at the entrance of the solar energy mine, and carefully looked down, but could see nothing.
One of the sharp-eyed guards suddenly spoke up: "There are nails hammered into the cave wall."
The leader was led to look, and sure enough, he saw some traces under the elevator platform, which made him even more terrified. That woman really did it.
"Go get a few sets of protective gear, and send someone down to check what's going on," the leader instructed the person beside him.
The subordinate turned around, took two steps, then came back, his face bitter, and said, "Captain, our warehouse has been emptied out; there's no equipment left."
All the energy reserves they unearthed from their base, as well as the weapons, food, medicine, and daily necessities in the warehouses, were gone.
The leader closed his eyes and endured for a while before ordering, "Go and bring a few people with minor injuries over here. Have them take the elevator down to check on the situation."
Whether these injured people survive depends entirely on their own ability to endure it. The pressure in the underwater base is different from that outside, and injuries can be fatal.
The situation inside the mine was even worse, so the leader thought for a moment and assigned the task to those who were about to die.
Five people were quickly summoned. After standing on the elevator platform, the leader instructed his five men, who were wearing simple protective gear, "If you see any nails, pull them out."
The platform slowly descended, and soon a voice came from below: "The nail is driven too deep; we can't pull it out."
Moreover, the lifting platform was still in motion, which made it even more difficult for them to remove the nails. They also couldn't frequently stop the lifting platform just to remove the nails.
Their primary task was to check the cave walls for bombs, and they were in a hurry for the results. Time was of the essence.
The leader ordered his men to shout down and abandon the task of pulling out the nails, instead focusing on finding the bomb and assessing the situation of the miners down in the mine.
The person on the lift gave a short "yes" and then fell silent. The lift continued to descend, and they looked around with their flares.
Apart from occasionally seeing a nail, they couldn't see anything else. In addition, their bandaged wounds started bleeding again, and they began to sweat profusely. The temperature was very high, and the air was very thin, which made them very uncomfortable.
After the elevator stopped, three of the five people had already collapsed, their consciousness fading, while the other two were still trying to stay awake and looking down.
The place was completely empty, with no bottom in sight and not a sound. One of the people reached out and pressed the vibrator connected to the bottom of the lifting platform.
The vibrations it emits affect the air in the caves near the cave walls, and the people inside will sense the change and naturally come out.
Five minutes later, the shaking stopped, and no one came out. The two people on the elevator platform couldn't hold on any longer, so they pulled the bell to signal to those above to let them up.
