When Rong Mo and Rong Hong arrived in the living room, everyone was already seated. "Dad," Shen Zhi Qiu saw Rong Hong and immediately stood up, smiling as she walked forward. She naturally took Rong Hong's arm and led him towards the dining room, then let go of him, turned around, and affectionately hugged her grandmother, saying, "Dad, this is my grandmother. She will be living with us from now on."
"Hello!" Rong Hong quickly reached out and grasped his grandmother's hand with a grateful expression. "Thank you for taking care of Zhi Qiu all this time. If it weren't for your meticulous care, I would never have been able to find my daughter."
Grandma stood up, her mind surprisingly clear, and she wasn't confused. "I only felt truly at ease after I arrived. Knowing that you treat Zhi Qiu so well, I'm relieved."
The two chatted for a while, and Grandma was still very lucid, which surprised Shen Zhi Qiu. But worried that Grandma might be hungry, Shen Zhi Qiu still interrupted their conversation apologetically and urged everyone to sit down and eat first.
"Grandma, this table is full of specialties from the capital. Please try them and see if you like them." Shen Zhi Qiu put a piece of food on her grandmother's plate and looked at her expectantly.
"It's delicious," Grandma said with a smile after taking a bite. Shen Zhi Qiu was relieved.
After dinner, Shen Zhi Qiu stayed with her grandmother until she fell asleep in her room before quietly leaving. Rong Mo was still sitting in the usual spot, waiting for her.
"Brother." Shen Zhi Qiu walked over, looking at him with some confusion, "What are you doing here?"
“I mentioned moving back to the old house to Dad, but he was very resistant, and even felt that we didn’t want him to live here.” Rong Mo frowned. “I don’t know why, but I feel that Dad seems a bit strange. At least he would never have thought this way before.”
No sooner had he finished speaking than Rong Hong appeared at the top of the stairs.
"Dad?" Shen Zhi Qiu looked at him with some surprise as he dragged a suitcase.
Upon hearing this, Rong Mo immediately stood up and strode towards the stairwell. Seeing Rong Hong struggling to drag his suitcase, he ran up the stairs in a few quick steps.
"Dad! What are you doing?!" Rong Mo said reproachfully, then took the suitcase from his hand.
“I’ve thought about your suggestion, and I still think it would be better to leave tonight.” Rong Hong’s expression was somewhat strange.
"Dad!" Rong Mo frowned helplessly. "Why do you have to misunderstand me?"
"What did I misunderstand you about?" Rong Hong frowned. "Isn't that exactly what you meant? The more I think about it, the more I feel I should leave sooner."
“Dad!” Shen Zhi Qiu also came up and patiently persuaded, “My brother and I didn’t mean that. You’ve misunderstood.” As she spoke, Shen Zhi Qiu stepped forward and took Rong Hong’s hand, saying, “We were just worried that your presence here would affect your recovery. After all, there are too many people here now. We are just concerned about you.”
Rong Hong loved Shen Zhi Qiu more after all. Hearing her words, he felt a little better. He patted Shen Zhi Qiu's hand and said, "My daughter is the most considerate. Unlike your brother, I don't really like what he says."
Rong Mo sighed slightly, somewhat speechless. Wasn't what Shen Zhi Qiu said exactly the same as what he had said? But at this moment, he couldn't refute anything and could only silently lower his head and listen to the scolding.
“Dad, if you don’t like it, then you can continue to live here. I’m just worried about you,” Shen Zhi Qiu said softly.
"It's alright, then I'll go back. You're right, I need to rest and recuperate in peace. It'll be much quieter back at the old house," Rong Hong said to Shen Zhi Qiu with a gentle smile.
Shen Zhi Qiu nodded, "Okay, Dad, then you should rest well. I'll have Wei Qiao take you home."
"No need, I can drive myself." Rong Hong said, and prepared to take the suitcase from Rong Mo.
Shen Zhi Qiu quickly stopped her, saying, "How can that be? You're not fully recovered yet, how can I let you go back alone?"
Rong Hong said with a smile, "Don't worry, I can take care of myself."
"Let me do it, Dad." Rong Mo still carried the suitcase and did not hand it to Rong Hong.
"I don't need you to see me off." Rong Hong was still somewhat displeased and insisted on leaving on his own.
"Let me accompany you back," Yan Yan's voice suddenly came from above.
Everyone was stunned for a moment.
Rong Mo was the first to react. He smiled and politely declined, saying, "Yan Yan, your leg injury hasn't fully healed yet, so please don't overdo it."
"It's okay, I'm all better now," Yan Yan replied with a smile.
"Yan Yan, you should stay and take care of Zhi Qiu. She still needs to recuperate," Rong Hong said after a pause.
"It's alright, I already know Zhi Qiu's constitution very well. I'll just send the recipe to Aunt Zhao directly. Besides, I can come over once a week, so I can adjust things in time," Yan Yan replied with a smile.
"Yan Yan, it's not convenient for you to go to my dad's place. I'll arrange for someone to go and take care of him, so you can rest assured," Shen Zhi Qiu said, frowning slightly.
"Uncle Rong, it's up to you," Yan Yan said, turning slightly to the side and inadvertently revealing the red bow on her right side of her hair.
Rong Hong was completely stunned, staring at Yan Yan without moving.
"dad?"
Shen Zhi Qiu noticed that Rong Hong was acting strangely, so she quickly grabbed his shoulder and called out to him anxiously.
Yan Yan stood there watching them without making a sound.
"Dad, are you alright? What happened?" Rong Mo was also a little worried.
"Hmm?" Rong Hong looked at Shen Zhi Qiu somewhat absentmindedly, then subconsciously pushed her away gently. "I'm fine, I was just a little distracted." Rong Hong regained his composure and smiled at Yan Yan. "Then I'll trouble you, Miss Yan Yan."
Shen Zhi Qiu and Rong Mo were stunned. What just happened?
Why did Rong Hong change his mind immediately after losing his composure?
“Dad, Yan Yan is still working at the postpartum care center. Now that her leg injury has healed, Mrs. Chen will probably be eager for her to go back to work, after all, Yan Yan is the center’s star nutritionist.” Rong Mo used a strategy of retreat to advance, trying to reason with Rong Hong.
Sure enough, Rong Hong hesitated. After all, Yan Yan had said before that the postpartum care center was unwilling to let her go, which was why she was working part-time at the Rong family's home.
"It's okay." Yan Yan smiled and stepped forward. "I've already discussed my resignation with Mrs. Chen at the postpartum care center, and she's agreed. So I don't need to go back to work anymore. I can help Uncle Rong take care of his health when I have time."
"You resigned?" Rong Hong was somewhat surprised. "Why haven't I heard you mention it? Was it because of your leg injury that you haven't been back to work for a long time, and your boss was unhappy and fired you?" Rong Hong was a little angry. "If that's the reason, that's really outrageous. Rong Mo, don't you know that Mrs. Chen? You'd better get justice for Yan Yan!"
"No, please don't get agitated. It's my own choice not to do it." Yan Yan pursed her lips and smiled faintly.
