Chapter 402 Lu Jia's coat was salvaged.

Upon hearing this, Shen Zhi Qiu reacted with astonishing speed, as if all her sorrow and despair had instantly transformed into strength. She pushed aside those around her and rushed straight towards the sea, each step resolute and urgent.

Lu Wei immediately followed, staring intently at the sea.

Unfortunately, the next second, the rescue team only retrieved Lu Jia's jacket, which she had been wearing. After retrieving it and placing it on the boat, they shook their heads in disappointment in Shen Zhi Qiu's direction before continuing their search.

After the immense joy came a deeper despair. Shen Zhi Qiu's face wore an even more desperate expression. The coat hung empty, showing no sign of life; it merely served as a cruel reminder that Lu Jia was gone.

Shen Zhi Qiu knelt on the ground, tears welling up again, but this time she didn't cry out loud; her grief had exceeded the limits of crying. Her body began to tremble, and she completely collapsed.

Lu Wei stood blankly beside her, the glimmer of hope that had welled up in her heart instantly shattered, leaving her heartbroken.

Rong Mo and Jiang Bei wanted to comfort them, but found that any words seemed so pale and powerless. They could only stay silently by her side.

Night fell, and moonlight bathed the silent sea, its silvery rays dancing on the shimmering surface. The search and rescue boats in the distance remained brightly lit, tracing luminous paths across the water. But everyone knew that with the passage of time, Lu Jia had no chance of survival. They longed to see him dead, or at least to give him a proper burial.

Shen Zhi Qiu sat alone on the beach, her figure appearing exceptionally thin in the dim light. She hugged her knees tightly, as if seeking warmth and comfort. Her face was buried deep in her knees, and tears silently soaked through her clothes.

Lu Wei took a cup of hot tea from Wei Qiao. The aroma of the tea wafted through the night air, bringing a touch of warmth. She walked over quietly and sat down beside Shen Zhi Qiu, extending her hand to offer her the hot tea.

"Zhiqiu, have something to drink." Lu Wei's voice was hoarse, clearly due to prolonged crying.

Shen Zhi Qiu slowly raised her head, her eyes red and swollen, hollow, tears welling up. She looked at the hot tea in Lu Wei's hand but didn't take it. Her lips moved slightly, her voice low and deep: "Lu Wei, don't you hate me? If it weren't for saving me, Lu Jia wouldn't have been in danger, and wouldn't have..."

Shen Zhi Qiu stopped talking; she simply couldn't bear to utter that one word.

Lu Wei sighed softly and reached out to pat Shen Zhi Qiu's back gently. "I know you're feeling bad, and I understand, but the living must go on living. Zhi Qiu, I don't blame you. I know Lu Jia's heart. If he hadn't saved you, he would have been filled with remorse. The person guarding here right now would be Lu Jia, which would be even more painful for him than killing him directly."

“But…” Shen Zhi Qiu’s tears finally welled up, “How could I not be heartbroken? How could I not blame myself? If it weren’t for me, he wouldn’t have…”

“Zhi Qiu, don’t think like that,” Lu Wei interrupted her. “Life is full of unexpected events, and we can’t always blame ourselves. Lu Jia has always been a brave person, and he made the choice he wanted to make. Don’t blame yourself.”

Shen Zhi Qiu wept uncontrollably. She closed her eyes, letting the tears slide down her cheeks and be scattered by the wind.

“Zhiqiu, I know everyone thinks Lu Jia is gone. But the search and rescue team hasn’t finished their search yet, so let’s not be so pessimistic. You must take care of yourself. What if you wake up tomorrow morning and find that Lu Jia has returned? Right?” Lu Wei pursed her lips and continued, trying to give herself hope.

"Where is Xiao Wanqing?" Shen Zhi Qiu turned to look at Lu Wei. "I heard you're going to avenge Lu Jia yourself."

“Yes.” Lu Wei nodded, her emotions still hard to control when Xiao Wanqing was mentioned. “But in the end, it was Jiang Bei who did it. Xiao Wanqing is now forever at the bottom of the sea.”

“She has committed too many evil deeds; even being torn to pieces cannot erase her sins.” Shen Zhi Qiu frowned, her eyes filled with hatred.

"Zhiqiu, go and rest in the car for a while. We'll come back together tomorrow morning to wait. What if there's good news?" Lu Wei didn't want Chen Zhiqiu to think about these things anymore. Seeing her pale face, she couldn't help but persuade her again.

“Okay,” Shen Zhi Qiu nodded, tucked her wind-blown hair behind her ear, and followed Lu Wei toward the car.

Rong Mo quickly went to greet her and looked at Lu Wei gratefully.

"Go and rest in the RV. There are bodyguards all around, so you can get some rest without worry." Rong Mo took Shen Zhi Qiu's hand and led them to the RV. "Don't worry, I'll come and wake you up as soon as it's light tomorrow."

Lying in bed, Shen Zhi Qiu murmured, "Lu Wei, do you think we'll see Lu Jia first thing tomorrow morning?"

"Yes, I definitely will." Lu Wei answered softly, trying to hold back her tears, but the tears still silently slid down her cheeks and soaked into the pillow.

That night, Shen Zhi Qiu was half asleep and half awake, and it seemed that if she closed her eyes, she would see Lu Jia's face.

In the morning, Shen Zhi Qiu was awakened by a series of urgent knocks on the door.

She sat up abruptly, quickly put on her clothes, and rushed out of the car. "What happened? Did you find Lu Jia?"

"Yes, Miss, the search and rescue team has found Lu Jia! They're bringing him back now! Please come with me!" the bodyguard said excitedly, pointing to a ship approaching on the sea. "Look, that's the ship!"
