The iron bucket, carrying Xiao Wanqing, sank rapidly and disappeared from the sea surface in an instant.
Lu Wei gazed at the sea, her heart filled with mixed emotions.
“It’s all over,” Jiang Bei said softly as he walked to her side.
Lu Wei turned her head and looked at him, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes.
"I'm sorry, I just don't want you to regret getting your hands dirty with people's lives later. I'm afraid you won't be able to handle it. I'll take care of these things," Jiang Bei said apologetically. "I'm really sorry, I made this decision for you in a rush due to time constraints."
"Thank you, Jiangbei," she said slowly. "I know what you mean, thank you."
After speaking, Lu Wei stood at the bow of the boat, her eyes still fixed on the spot where Xiao Wanqing had sunk.
"She has no chance of surviving," Jiang Bei said in a low voice.
“Hmm,” Lu Wei pursed her lips, “Jiangbei, I want to go to the beach where Lu Jia had the accident. No matter what, I want to wait for the search and rescue team’s final results.”
As she said this, her heart skipped a beat, "Even if there's no result."
“Okay.” Jiang Bei replied without hesitation, “I’ll take you there.”
After saying that, Jiang Bei went into the cockpit and steered the boat back.
The journey was silent. Lu Wei stood on the boat, looking at the sea with a sorrowful expression.
Jiang Bei walked over and watched the scene from afar. He sighed, stepped forward, and silently stayed by her side. He could feel Lu Wei's pain and struggle. He didn't disturb her, but quietly protected her, giving her enough space to face her own heart. He knew that Lu Wei needed time to process all of this, time to accept this cruel reality.
When they arrived at the beach where Lu Jia had her accident, Jiang Bei frowned and said, "Lu Wei, we're here."
Lu Wei turned her head, looking at the surging sea, her heart filled with endless longing and sorrow. She remembered Lu Jia playing on the beach as a child, his happy laughter and carefree figure. These beautiful memories contrasted sharply with the cruel reality before her, making her heart ache even more.
After getting out of the car, Jiang Bei walked to Lu Wei's side and gently patted her shoulder. "Lu Wei, let's go over first. Zhi Qiu and President Rong are also on the beach."
Lu Wei stood quietly on the beach, letting the sea breeze tousle her hair and clothes. She nodded, trying to calm her turbulent emotions. "Jiang Bei. Thank you."
From afar, they saw Zhi Qiu sitting blankly on the beach, her eyes fixed on the sea. Rong Mo sat beside her, gently putting his arm around Zhi Qiu's shoulder.
Wei Qiao, who was standing nearby, heard hurried footsteps. He looked up and saw Jiang Bei and Lu Wei walking towards them, and couldn't help but frown.
He walked quickly toward them.
"Brother Wei." The bodyguard rushed up, greeted him, and whispered, "Xiao Wanqing has been sunk to the bottom of the sea and is surely dead."
Wei Qiao glanced at him, looked at Jiang Bei with some surprise, then nodded and instructed, "Okay, I understand. You go ahead, I'll take care of things here."
The bodyguard ran away.
Jiang Bei and Lu Wei had already walked up to them.
"Miss Lu, I'm sorry." Wei Qiao lowered her head, looking guilty.
"Any news?" Lu Wei's voice was tinged with fear, her hands clenched tightly together, her fingertips turning white from the force.
Wei Qiao's eyes revealed sympathy and helplessness. He shook his head, his voice low and sincere, "Not yet." His words were like a heavy stone pressing on Lu Wei's heart, making it almost impossible for her to breathe.
Lu Wei's lips began to tremble. She tried hard to remain calm, but her voice betrayed her inner vulnerability. "I'll go take a look first." Her steps were heavy and slow, each step as if she were carrying a thousand-pound burden, as if even breathing had become difficult.
Jiang Bei watched from the side, his heart filled with worry. He saw Lu Wei's figure swaying in the sea breeze, as if she might collapse at any moment. He couldn't help but step forward and gently support Lu Wei, offering her support and strength.
"Thank you." Lu Wei lowered her head, looking dejected. Her voice was weak and powerless, as if every word had exhausted all her strength.
There's still no news, even though the answer is already obvious. It's just that everyone is unwilling to believe it, still clinging to a sliver of hope and waiting for a miracle to happen.
"Lu Wei is here." Rong Mo turned his head, saw them, and whispered in Shen Zhi Qiu's ear. His voice revealed a hint of surprise and worry.
"Lu Wei is here?" Shen Zhi Qiu seemed to suddenly come to her senses. She turned her head sharply and looked in Lu Wei's direction. A complicated expression appeared on her face. She stumbled and tried to get up, but because her mind had been in a state of high tension, she lost her balance, her vision went black, and she fell forward.
Rong Mo was startled and immediately reached out to grab her arm, pulling Shen Zhi Qiu into his arms. He anxiously pinched her philtrum, asking, "Zhi Qiu? Are you alright?" His face was filled with worry and urgency.
Jiang Bei rushed over immediately. When he saw Shen Zhi Qiu's condition, his heart clenched. "Zhi Qiu, are you alright?" His voice trembled with unease.
Shen Zhi Qiu groggily opened her eyes and saw Jiang Bei had returned. Tears streamed down her face. Her tears fell like broken beads, dripping onto Jiang Bei's hand, burning him painfully. He reached out and wiped away the tear stains on Shen Zhi Qiu's face.
"Don't cry, Zhi Qiu." Jiang Bei's voice was gentle yet firm. "We will definitely find him."
