Chapter 14 "Tomorrow morning at nine o'clock, Civil Affairs Bureau."

After finishing his meal, Lu Yu got up and went to the bedroom. After a moment, he took out a dark grey loose short-sleeved shirt and a pair of home pants and handed them to Lin Che: "New, never worn, use them as pajamas."

Lin Che took it. The fabric was soft and had a faint scent of cedar, the same scent as Lu Yu.

"The bathroom is over there, and the toiletries are ready.

Lu Yu pointed in the direction of the corridor, his tone still calm, as if he was just explaining an ordinary matter.

Lin Che nodded and walked towards the bathroom with the clothes in her arms.

After closing the door, he took a deep breath, looked down at the clothes in his hands, and his fingertips tightened unconsciously.

——These are Lu Yu’s clothes.

He changed into that short-sleeved shirt, the hem of which fell to his thighs, the collarbone was faintly visible due to the loose neckline.

Lin Che looked at herself in the mirror and felt her ears burning for some unknown reason.

When I walked out of the bathroom, the lights in the living room had been dimmed. Lu Yu was standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, holding a glass of water in his hand. His back looked tall and lonely.

Hearing footsteps, he turned around, his eyes lingering on Lin Che for a moment before moving away.

"The guest rooms are on the second floor on the right." He said calmly, "Go to bed early."

Lin Che stood still and suddenly said, "Lu Yu."

Lu Yu stopped and looked back at him.

"Our marriage..."

Lin Che pursed her lips and said softly, "I'm not taking it seriously."

The air suddenly became quiet.

Lu Yu's eyes deepened a little, his Adam's apple rolled slightly, and finally he just whispered: "Yeah, I know."

"Tomorrow morning at nine o'clock, Civil Affairs Bureau."

Lin Che's breathing stagnated, and his fingertips unconsciously pinched the corner of his clothes.

"……good."

The next morning.

Lin Che woke up very early. Just as the sky was getting light, he was already standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window of the guest room, watching the sky gradually brighten outside the window.

He looked down at the short-sleeved shirt by Lu Yu that he was still wearing. The fabric was soft and had a faint scent of cedar.

——Today, he and Lu Yu are going to get a marriage certificate.

He took a deep breath, pushed open the door and went downstairs, and found Lu Yu already sitting at the dining table, wearing a neat suit, flipping through a document with his slender fingers.

Hearing footsteps, he raised his eyes, his gaze lingering on Lin Che for a moment, then said calmly, "Eat breakfast."

There was a simple set of toast, fried eggs, and coffee on the dining table. Lin Che sat down, lowered his head, and ate quietly, but his heartbeat quickened uncontrollably.

Lu Yu closed the document, took a sip of coffee, and looked at Lin Che: "Did you bring your ID?"

"I brought it." Lin Che nodded and took out his ID card and household registration booklet from his pocket.

Lu Yu took a quick look, confirmed everything, and stood up: "Let's go."

Civil Affairs Bureau

At nine o'clock sharp, many couples were already queuing in front of the Civil Affairs Bureau.

Lin Che stood beside Lu Yu. Cheng Yi had already cleared the VIP channel. All he had to do was wait for the notification to go in, take a photo and fill out the information.

Lu Yu glanced at him sideways, then suddenly reached out and grabbed his wrist.

"Nervous?" he whispered.

Lin Che shook her head, but pursed her lips honestly: "...a little."

Lu Yu's thumb gently rubbed his wrist bone and said in a low voice: "Don't be afraid, I'm here."

These three simple words made Lin Che's heart skip a beat.

Queuing, filling out forms, taking photos, the process was much faster than I imagined.

When taking the photo, the photographer smiled and reminded them: "Come closer and look more natural."

Lin Che subconsciously straightened his back, but Lu Yu suddenly reached out, put his arm around his shoulders, and pulled him into his arms.

"Relax." He whispered in Lin Che's ear, his warm breath brushing against her earlobe.

Lin Che's ears felt hot, but his body actually relaxed.

The moment the flash came on, he tilted his head slightly and the corners of his lips unconsciously rose.

——In the photo, Lu Yu looked calm, and he smiled gently.

Got the red book.

The staff handed over two marriage certificates and said with a smile, "Congratulations, both of you."

Lin Che took it, her fingertips trembling slightly.

On the red and gold-embossed certificate, his and Lu Yu's names were written side by side. In the photo, they looked like a couple who truly loved each other.

Lu Yu took the marriage certificate and put it in his pocket, but saw Lin Che still staring at the certificate, his fingertips gently stroking the words on it.

"Let's go. I'll help you move." Lu Yu took the other marriage certificate from Lin Che and put it in his pocket. With his other hand, he naturally took Lin Che's hand and walked towards the car.

Lu Yu's palm was broad, with distinct joints, easily enveloping Lin Che's hand. His fingertips were covered in a thin layer of calluses, and rubbing against Lin Che's delicate skin brought a subtle tingling sensation.

Lin Che pursed her lips, her fingertips curling lightly in his palm, but she didn't struggle to break free.

The sun was shining brightly today, casting long shadows on the ground. Lin Che looked down at their hands, and an indescribable feeling spread across his heart.

Lu Yu's shoulders were so broad that they almost covered half of his body. Lin Che tried his best to keep up with Lu Yu's pace.

Lin Che stood downstairs of his rental house, watching the workers pack his belongings one by one and load them into the truck.

The whole process was incredibly efficient, and the professional team even provided shockproof treatment to each book.

"Actually, there's no need to be so..."

He was halfway through his words when he saw Lu Yu bending down to pick up a fallen photo frame on the ground.

It was a photo of him and his mentor when he graduated from college, and there was a crack in the glass.

Lu Yu wiped the dust off the edge of the photo frame with his thumb: "We'll take the important things ourselves."

He unbuttoned his suit with one hand and squatted down to help Lin Che sort the medical journals on the bookshelf.

The posture caused his expensive suit trousers to wrinkle at the knees, but he didn't seem to care.

When the last piece of furniture was removed, the empty room revealed mottled walls and moldy corners.

Lin Che stood in the empty room, suddenly feeling a sense of unreality.

"Can't bear to leave?" Lu Yu asked him while standing at the door.

Lin Che shook her head, took out a key from her pocket and placed it on the dining table. "Let's go."
