Chapter 4: Teach You How to Find Your Way

Chapter 4: Teach You How to Find Your Way

"Hello, how can I help you?" Behind the huge curved reception desk in the first floor lobby of Lu Corporation, the smiling receptionist quickly glanced at Lin Che's face and blushed instantly.

Lin Che, wearing a simple white shirt and dark trousers, said in a steady voice, "I'm looking for Lu Yu."

"Mr. Lu...Mr. Lu?" The three receptionists with exquisite makeup looked at each other and asked unconfidently.

Lin Che put his right hand in his trouser pocket, holding his phone in his left hand as he replied to the message and nodded in affirmation.

"Excuse me, do you have an appointment? Mr. Lu's itinerary needs to be confirmed in advance." The smile on the receptionist's face returned to normal, and a hint of professional scrutiny flashed across her eyes as she asked.

"No." Lin Che pursed her lips and replied in her usual calm voice.

The receptionist's smile faded a bit, and she apologized in a formal tone, "Sir, I'm sorry. Mr. Lu's schedule hasn't been booked in the system or confirmed verbally by Special Assistant Cheng, so we can't contact him directly."

"Appointment?" Lin Che's voice was filled with an imperceptible chill, and his fingertips paused on the phone screen for a second.

Lu Group, top floor conference room.

The atmosphere is solemn.

The giant circular conference table was filled with the group's core executives. A projection screen displayed the latest quarterly financial report, and the speaker's voice was steady and powerful. Lu Yu sat at the head of the table, his gaze fixed sharply on the screen. The entire conference room was enveloped in his invisible, overwhelming pressure, a pin drop audible to the ear.

Suddenly, a faint but penetrating vibration broke the silence.

Buzz buzz buzz——

The sound came from the desk in front of Lu Yu.

All the executives' eyes instantly focused on him, with a hint of astonishment and imperceptible tension.

Lu Yu's gaze shifted from the screen to the vibrating phone on the table. A completely unfamiliar number was flashing on the screen.

His eyebrows moved almost imperceptibly.

The executives' hearts were in their throats. The speaker's voice suddenly stopped, and the entire conference room fell into a dead silence, even the sound of breathing was clearly audible. Everyone held their breath, waiting for Lu Yu's reaction.

Lu Yu stretched out his slender fingers and tapped in the air, pausing the meeting.

In full view of everyone, he directly swiped the answer button and raised the phone to his ear.

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, as if he didn't expect to be picked up immediately.

Then, a cold male voice came from the receiver, trying hard to suppress his emotions, but still with a hint of tension and trembling. It echoed clearly in the silent conference room:

"It's me, Lin Che. I'm downstairs from your company, and the front desk said... there are no appointments."

Hearing Lin Che's tense voice coming from the receiver, Lu Yu subconsciously curled his lips and said, "Wait."

After being hung up, Lin Che stood there waiting, continuing to reply to the message on his phone, wondering if Lu Yu agreed. Lu Yu would just say hello to the CEO's office and the front desk, and then he could go up.

Lu Yu was in a good mood and put his phone away. His bony fingers tapped the wooden table. His pen was casually tossed onto the documents, making a crisp clatter in the silent conference room. "Cheng Yi, you take charge."

When Cheng Yi was scrambling to catch the falling pen, Lu Yu had already strode towards the door.

The executives' eyes widened collectively - they had never seen President Lu interrupt any meeting, let alone for a phone call.

In the conference room, you could hear a pin drop.

At the lobby reception desk, Lin Che was looking down at his phone. A few strands of black hair fell across his smooth forehead, his profile sharp and clean. The cool white light overhead made his skin appear even more translucent.

Lu Yu's gaze fell on Lin Che's face. His eyes, slightly drooping at the corners, held an innocent and gentle expression. He thought of the Manta rose that had been delivered to the hospital three days earlier. As expected, this high-born flower, even the curve of its neck, exuded a cold, unapproachable aura.

"Lin Che."

A deep voice exploded behind him. Lin Che turned around abruptly, his nose almost brushing against Lu Yu's tie clip. Only then did he realize that the other person was standing very close to him, so close that he could smell the cold scent of cedar mixed with leather on his body.

The three girls at the front desk were so scared that they were like statues.

"Mr. Lu...Mr. Lu."

Lu Yu reached out to steady the frightened Lin Che, turned around and nodded to the receptionist who greeted him.

"Next time he comes, just take him to the exclusive elevator." Lu Yu's big, bony hand was still holding Lin Che's wrist through the sleeve of his white shirt, burning his wrist like a red-hot iron, making Lin Che lose his mind.

"Okay...Okay."

It wasn't until the elevator door closed that the receptionist leaned against the counter with her legs weak - the young man they had stopped had actually asked President Lu to interrupt his high-level meeting and come to pick him up in person.

In the elevator, Lin Che pressed himself against the other wall. From the moment he entered the elevator, he quietly distanced himself from Lu Yu.

Being about 20 centimeters taller than Lin Che, Lu Yu could easily catch Lin Che's slightly trembling eyelashes.

The confined space magnified Lu Yu's sense of oppression exponentially. Lin Che tried his best to ignore Lu Yu's gaze, focusing solely on the constantly jumping floor numbers. Suddenly, he heard a low laugh from the side:

"Lin Che," Lu Yu put one hand in his pocket, his eyes locked on the tip of his red ear, "Why are you shaking?"

The elevator mirror reflected two figures, with Lu Yu's tall and straight silhouette completely covering the thin Lin Che.

This oppressive scene made Lin Che unconsciously shrink back into the corner, his lower back resting against the cold metal handrail.

"The air conditioning is too strong." Lin Che lied while staring at the jumping floor numbers, his Adam's apple sliding slightly.

Lu Yu suddenly raised his hand and pressed the emergency stop button.

The elevator suddenly stopped, and Lin Che fell forward unexpectedly, and was firmly held by a strong arm around her waist.

The hem of the white shirt was lifted up due to the movement, revealing a small white waistline, which was now pressed against Lu Yu's warm palm.

"What is Mr. Lu doing?" Lin Che's voice tightened. As he struggled, his knees hit the control panel, making a dull sound.

"I'll teach you how to find your way." Lu Yu looked down at Lin Che's bruised knee, and his large hand covered it through the fabric of his pants. He added slowly, "Don't go through the main entrance next time."

As he lowered his head, his breath brushed against Lin Che's ear. "My private elevator is in the B2 parking lot. The fingerprint lock has recorded your information."

Lin Che's pupils suddenly constricted. They hadn't even signed the agreement yet, and this man had already taken the initiative—

"bite".

The elevator suddenly resumed operation and the warning sound on the top floor saved him.

Lu Yu let go at the right time, as if the crossing of the line just now was just an illusion.

But Lin Che clearly saw him twirling his fingertips slowly and leisurely, as if savoring some delicacy.

"The conference room is the third one on the left." Lu Yu was the first to step out of the elevator, the hem of his coat brushing against the back of Lin Che's burning hand. "Or..." He leaned sideways, casting a shadow. "Do you want to visit my office first?"
