Chapter 585 I'm the only one thinking about marriage

"Does the wound on your neck stop hurting?" she asked.

"To die beneath the peony blossoms, even as a ghost, is a romantic endeavor."

He started acting inappropriately again.

Gu Fanyan sat up and looked at him seriously. "We still have things to talk about."

Lin Zhibai stopped making a fuss and said, "Go ahead and speak, I'm listening." His eyes were filled with an overwhelming doting affection.

Gu Fanyan avoided his gaze and asked, "Is it really okay to give you the medicine from that night?"

Lin Zhibai raised an eyebrow dismissively: "Do you and I need that kind of thing? Can you handle it?"

Gu Fanyan was speechless, her cheeks burning like fire.

Why did he have to bring this up at this time?

“Be serious,” she said, composing herself. “If it has nothing to do with you, why would Lin Leming say that? And what about the photos of you and the jewelry store clerk?”

Lin Zhibai was even more disdainful, "That's why I say, when a fool does something, he does a foolish thing."

"Lin Leming dared to drug you, so I'm going to kill him."

"As for that jewelry store clerk, this is the first time I've heard of him. I'll look into it later and let you know when I find out."

“Oh,” he suddenly remembered something, “Lin Guangchen asked me to pick up your jewelry for him, so I met with that shop assistant.”

Lin Guangchen?

Gu Fanyan frowned; this matter seemed to be getting more and more complicated.

"Who on earth is behind this?" she wondered.

“I know,” Lin Zhibai suddenly leaned closer, a smile playing on his lips, “these people are secretly plotting something, they don’t want us to be happy.”

"Sister Fanyan, why don't we get married tomorrow? That way they'll shut up."

Gu Fanyan sighed, Lin Zhibai had gone crazy again.

"Don't change the subject..."

“Who the hell changed the subject?” he said, looking annoyed. “This is the only thing I’ve ever thought about. I’ve never had any other thoughts.”

Gu Fanyan sighed softly, unsure whether he was pretending to be stupid or genuinely stupid.

"You just said you didn't know anything about Sheng Xin, so why was she at your house?" she asked.

Lin Zhibai's expression turned serious.

Most of the things that happened in the Lin family were done by him. His mother did it.

While Lin's mother said she wanted to clear up their previous misunderstandings, her actions told a different story.

"Come on, I'll take you downstairs." Lin Zhibai stood up and grabbed her hand.

Gu Fanyan asked in confusion, "Where are we going?"

"Instead of guessing here, we should just ask my mom and ask her what she wants to do."

Lin Zhibai led Gu Fanyan into the living room.

Lin's mother and Sheng's mother sat on the sofa, and their eyes immediately fell on their tightly clasped hands.

Lin's mother spoke first: "I know what you want to ask. Sheng Xin is pregnant and has some mental health issues, so I brought her back and asked a doctor to take a look."

Sitting next to her, Sheng's mother lowered her head and wiped away her tears.

Gu Fanyan had had enough and gave a cold laugh. "Aunt Lin, then you should examine her properly. If you can't find a good diagnosis, the Gu family will hire another doctor to examine her."

Lin's mother glanced at her and nodded, "Don't worry, I know what to do."

"However, you should not mention marriage for now," Lin's mother added.

"Why should I?" Lin Zhibai immediately retorted.

“There weren’t just us at the villa that night. Now that Shengxin is in this situation, if you get married now, have you thought about how much mud will be thrown at Fanyan?”

As Lin's mother spoke, she glanced at Sheng's mother beside her.

Gu Fanyan roughly understood that Lin's mother was warning Sheng's mother.

The person most likely to cause trouble right now is Sheng's mother.

“I haven’t agreed to get married either,” Gu Fanyan said.

As soon as she finished speaking, she immediately felt the air around her suddenly turn cold.

She pretended not to notice and continued, "Aunt Lin, please take your time. I'll be going now."

She stepped out of the living room.

Lin Zhibai chased after her, grabbing her wrist, "Why are you delaying the wedding?"

"Auntie is right, now is not the right time..."

"So from beginning to end, I was the only one thinking about marriage? It was all just wishful thinking on my part."

He turned away, his shoulders trembling slightly, trying his best to suppress his anger and grievances.

A moment later, Gu Fanyan walked around to the front of him and stuffed something into his hand.

He brushed her hand away and refused to take it.

She insisted on shoving it into his hand, saying, "Lin Zhibai, take a look at this first."

Lin Zhibai looked down and saw that it was a mangosteen.

"Why are you giving me this?" he asked irritably.

"I just bought this for you from the fruit shop outside," she said.

He realized that she had indeed returned; she had bought him mangosteens.

A hint of a smile appeared in his eyes, but his face remained cold. "You think you can get rid of me with just this little thing?"

"I left it here when I went in to look for you. I didn't expect to be able to retrieve it."

She pursed her soft lips: "If we can really get back together, why bother about this moment?"

Lin Zhibai was slightly taken aback. "I want to marry you, but you're giving me pep talks?"

Only Gu Fanyan would dare to do such a thing to him.

Gu Fanyan was amused by him. "You should be content. I never make chicken soup for people."

Her smile was so captivating that he was mesmerized for years, never letting himself regain his senses.

“Fanyan,” he said involuntarily, reaching out to stroke one of her cheeks, “I want your smile to belong only to me.”

"Tell me, how can I do that? I'm willing to give anything."

His handsome eyes were filled with a surging tide of infatuation and reluctance to part with her.

She felt a pang of emotion, a tenderness, and a touch of sadness. "Lin Zhibai, why didn't you come to find me back then? Why did you leave me alone abroad..." she murmured to herself.

He understood that she was referring to the time they broke up a few years ago.

"I've called you so many times and sent you so many messages, but you're ignoring me..."

“I went to your house. Your mom said you have a new boyfriend over there, and she even showed me his picture… You were smiling so happily, I thought you didn’t want me anymore…”

Gu Fanyan couldn't help but shed tears: "I changed my phone..."

"Why doesn't anyone know your number?" He remembered asking many people at the time. "And what's the deal with that man?"

"I lied to my parents because I didn't want them to worry."

She shook her head. "I admit, I also want you to know that if you don't want me, someone else will..."

Lin Zhibai's mind was buzzing as he realized how much he had missed.

Over the years, his sadness, his longing in the dead of night... were all self-inflicted.

"I'm sorry..." He stammered, his tongue tied, wanting to say too much but unable to express himself clearly, "I'm sorry, how could I not want you..."

"I thought you didn't want me... I looked for so many people, but none of them were you."

"Gu Fanyan, I want to marry you. With a marriage certificate, I can tie you down, right?"

He held her tightly in his arms, as if he wanted to crush her into his own flesh and blood.
