Gu Fanyan glared at him, "You're never serious!"
After a slight pause, he asked again, "What did my dad say to you that day?"
Lin Zhibai smiled and said, "It is a blessing that our Lin family has accumulated over several generations to have you become such an outstanding daughter-in-law."
"Stop grinning at me," Gu Fanyan frowned. "Speak like a human being."
When she got angry, he really didn't dare to be too presumptuous. He put away his playful expression and said, "I didn't say anything. I wouldn't listen anyway."
Gu Fanyan let out a sigh of relief, she was furious.
"Sister Fanyan, don't be angry. Actually, what Uncle said is all true..."
"I'm not angry with you, I'm angry with my dad." Gu Fanyan pursed her lips tightly.
She knew Lin Zhibai; the more playful and carefree he appeared, the deeper the secrets he was trying to hide.
She couldn't even imagine how outrageous her father's words were that day.
For example, right now, they've been leaving him here, for at least seven or eight hours.
She turned and walked towards the president's office.
"Gu Fanyan!" He grabbed her wrist. "Don't go."
She pulled her hand away from his and continued walking forward.
"Miss, Miss..." Even the president's assistant couldn't stop her; she barged directly into Mr. Gu's office.
There were indeed a few people in the office having a meeting, and they were all taken aback when they saw this.
Mr. Gu's face darkened.
Lin Zhibai chased in and put his arm around Gu Fanyan's shoulder. "Uncle, I'll take her away right away."
Gu Fanyan pushed his hand away and stared intently at her father.
The assistant said, "Mr. Gu, these suppliers haven't had dinner yet. Let me make the arrangements."
He led everyone else out of the meeting room.
Father Gu said sternly, "Fan Yan, give me an explanation."
“Dad, I should be the one saying this to you,” Gu Fanyan retorted without backing down, “Why did you leave Lin Zhibai waiting in the reception room all day?”
"Didn't you know he was injured and hadn't recovered yet?"
Mr. Gu's expression remained unchanged: "I'm very busy here. Besides, there's nothing I need to discuss with him in person. He can leave anytime."
Gu Fanyan laughed in exasperation: "So, in your eyes, your daughter's happiness is not something important."
Father Gu frowned sternly: "Fan Yan, don't be unreasonable."
“Uncle, Sister Fanyan wasn’t being unreasonable.” Lin Zhibai couldn’t help but say, “It’s all my fault, please don’t blame her.”
"This is none of your business." Gu Fanyan pushed him away, took the file bag from his hand, and threw it in front of her father. "Dad, take a good look at it."
"The things you think Lin Zhibai did wrong are all smears that Gu Zheng deliberately threw at him."
"And do you know anything about Gu Zheng's true background?"
"The police have already confirmed what Lin Guangchen did to your mother. Are you still going to pretend you didn't see it?"
"You say you're disappointed in Lin Zhibai, then I must tell you, I'm also very disappointed in you!"
After saying that, Gu Fanyan turned and left.
Lin Zhibai chased after her out of the Gu Group building and grabbed her wrist. "Sister Fanyan, were you a little too harsh with your words just now?"
Gu Fanyan had calmed down by now. She realized that her attitude just now was indeed wrong, but she didn't regret it.
"It's his fault for disliking you without even knowing the facts," she said softly.
"What did you say?" He leaned closer and put his ear to it. "I didn't hear you."
But the smile on his lips betrayed him.
"Who asked you to hear me!" She looked away.
"It's alright if I can't hear you," Lin Zhibai said, suppressing a laugh and exaggeratingly pressing his stomach. "I've been here all day, and I'm quite hungry. Sister Fanyan, have you eaten?"
Gu Fanyan glanced at him. "Not yet."
"Perfect timing, let's eat together."
Gu Fanyan glanced at the road and turned left.
Lin Zhibai followed her: "The parking lot is on the right."
"No need, there's a place to eat just 500 meters away."
She walked the 500 meters in less than 10 minutes, but she never expected that it would suddenly start raining halfway there.
And it was a torrential downpour.
They were located between two buildings.
There were no obstructions for dozens of meters.
Without thinking, she took off her coat and wrapped it around him. His wound was still bandaged and couldn't get wet!
Lin Zhibai stretched out his arm and hugged her, and the two ran together to the building across the street.
She immediately grabbed the fabric around his waist and, seeing that his wound was alright, breathed a sigh of relief.
But then she saw him staring at her with rapt attention.
The raindrops dampened the stray hairs at her temples, clinging to her snow-white face, and her red lips, washed by the rain, appeared even more vibrant…
Without hesitation, he lowered his head and kissed the tenderness, ignoring the hurried passersby around him, savoring the delicate beauty that belonged only to him.
The world fell silent, with only the sound of the rain pattering in your ears.
After a long while, he reluctantly stopped, resting his chin on her forehead and breathing softly.
"You're so cruel. You haven't come to the hospital to see me even once these past few days." He said angrily, but his hard lips kept leaving marks on her delicate cheeks.
She was so overwhelmed by his kisses that her body went limp and she nestled against him.
Until she sensed he was gradually losing control... she came to her senses, turned her head away, and said, "Are you crazy? We're on the street."
“Come home with me,” he said in a hoarse voice.
"Didn't you say you were hungry and wanted to eat?"
"Feed one place at a time."
In the end, he still managed to lure her home, where she enjoyed a delicious meal.
Gu Fanyan was so exhausted that she fell into a deep sleep, feeling very puzzled. His injuries really didn't seem to affect his ability to do this at all…
She was half asleep when she was woken up by a phone ringing.
When I picked it up, I saw it was a call from Young Master Lin's assistant.
"Miss Gu," the assistant asked politely, "did you manage to find Young Master Lin yesterday?"
"Found it." Gu Fanyan blushed.
“That’s great,” the assistant said. “Young Master Lin didn’t return to the hospital last night. The doctor has asked about it several times. The key is that Young Master Lin still needs injections and medication. Could you please get him to return to the hospital?”
"Yes, I'll call him back."
After hanging up the phone, Gu Fanyan realized that she was alone in the apartment.
She called Lin Zhibai, but the phone rang from the living room sofa.
He went out without his phone.
But we still need to make some arrangements at the hospital.
So she left him a note explaining where she was going and then rushed to the hospital.
She went to the ward from yesterday, only to find a busy figure inside.
I initially thought I had gone to the wrong place, but then I realized that the figure was Sheng Xin.
Sheng Xin was in Lin Zhibai's hospital room, tidying up the room.
"Sheng Xin, who told you to do this?" Gu Fanyan asked as she walked in.
Sheng Xin was taken aback and stopped wiping the table. "Miss Gu, you're here... Why did you suddenly come?"
This surprised her quite a bit.
Gu Fanyan ignored her and repeated her question: "Who told you to do this?"
