Chapter 650 Heartless Woman

Hua Fei was muttering incantations, while Ze Ze's eyes opened and closed repeatedly, gradually drifting into a daze...

“Zeze, don’t be afraid,” Hua Fei’s voice was soft and slow, extremely deceptive, “What did you see?”

Zeze trembled slightly, "There's someone...there's someone standing in the corner..."

"Who is it?" Hua Fei asked.

"I can't see... I can't see..." Zeze's tone was filled with fear.

“Zeze, don’t be afraid,” Hua Fei encouraged, “Tell me what that person looks like. Open your eyes wide and look carefully…”

Zeze clenched his fists, seemingly examining the object intently.

Jiang Xiaowei involuntarily stood up, moved to the edge of the examination bed, and stared at Zeze with wide eyes.

Hua Fei asked, "Did you see clearly, Zeze?"

Zeze seemed to be half asleep and did not answer.

Hua Fei promptly pulled out a silver needle and neatly inserted it into another acupoint on Zeze's head.

Zeze opened her eyes, but they were blank and lifeless, her mind still immersed in memories.

"Did you see clearly, Zeze?" Hua Fei asked again, "was it a man or a woman?"

“Long hair…” Zeze murmured, “Thunder, lightning…suit pants, man, mask…”

Zeze couldn't continue speaking; she suddenly started trembling all over, even her lips were shaking.

Jiang Xiaowei suddenly shouted, "Zeze! Zeze, wake up!"

"What are you doing! Shut up!" Hua Fei shouted angrily.

Startled, Zeze immediately began to convulse, flailing her arms and legs wildly, her face turning pale and purple, her condition seemingly even more dangerous than when she first fell ill.

A figure strode in. "Think of a solution quickly!" he commanded in a deep voice.

When Jiang Xiaowei saw that the person was Huo Beichen, her face turned deathly pale!

Hua Fei remained calm and collected, drawing out several silver needles and quickly and accurately inserting them into several acupoints on Ze Ze's body.

Zeze's emotions gradually calmed down.

Hua Fei breathed a sigh of relief, and a few drops of sweat trickled down his forehead.

Only then did she say, "Miss Jiang, you almost killed Zeze just now!"

Jiang Xiaowei immediately retorted: "Zeze was trembling all over, his face was turning blue, and he couldn't breathe properly. If I hadn't woken him up, he really would have died!"

Hua Fei's face turned cold: "Zeze is my patient, so I will naturally ensure his safety."

Jiang Xiaowei wanted to say something more, but Huo Beichen interrupted her, "Enough!"

Huo Beichen questioned, "Xiaowei, why are you here?"

“I…I came to see Dr. Hua for a consultation,” Jiang Xiaowei had already prepared her answer. “She said she could cure my migraines and even asked me to stay and observe the results.”

"It's true that I kept you here, but did I let you interfere with my treatment?" Hua Fei accused angrily. "Do you want Zeze to be cured, or to suffer from a more serious illness?"

"You..." Jiang Xiaowei was furious, but then she turned to Huo Beichen with a pitiful look, "Brother Beichen, you know how I treat Zeze!"

"How could she slander me like that! Waaah!" She covered her face with her hands and ran out the door.

Huo Beichen paused slightly, then followed her out.

Hua Fei ignored them and looked down to observe Ze Ze's condition.

Fortunately, Zeze was sleeping soundly and was not greatly affected.

She walked to the window and saw Jiang Xiaowei run out of the villa. Huo Beichen quickly chased after her.

The two ran deeper into the garden.

A cold, hateful glint flashed across her lips.

Huo Beichen caught up with Jiang Xiaowei and grabbed her arm, "Xiaowei..."

Jiang Xiaowei turned around and threw herself into his arms, crying, "Brother Beichen..."

"I didn't mean any harm to Zeze. I was just really anxious, boohoo."

Huo Beichen softened his tone: "I understand, but next time Zeze has treatment, you shouldn't go to the treatment room."

Jiang Xiaowei raised her tear-streaked face: "Brother Beichen, you don't believe me?"

Huo Beichen shook his head: "I just hope Zeze can be cured soon, so that Dr. Hua can leave."

A shrewd glint flashed in Jiang Xiaowei's eyes, but she still feigned ignorance: "You seem to dislike Dr. Hua very much."

"Not really," Huo Beichen said dismissively, "but I wouldn't say I like her either. My son is sick and needs her as a doctor to treat him, that's all."

Jiang Xiaowei lowered her eyes, her face full of pitifulness, "But...she's also a very beautiful woman. Sometimes when I look at her, I feel like I'm seeing a splendid..."

She immediately shut up, annoyed that she had said too much.

"You mean Sheng Nanyin, right?" Huo Beichen blurted out, chuckling lightly, "Don't be silly."

"Even if she comes back, so what? She's still a heartless woman who abandoned her own son."

"Moreover, this Dr. Hua is a completely different person from Sheng Nanyin, both in appearance and personality."

The disdain in his tone was genuine.

Jiang Xiaowei breathed a slight sigh of relief and wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes. "It's all my fault. Why did I bring her up for no reason? Zeze should be awake by now. I'll go check on him."

Huo Beichen put his arm around her shoulder. "Zeze has a nanny looking after her, she'll be fine. You've worked hard these past two days, I'll take you out to relax."

A happy smile appeared on Jiang Xiaowei's face. "Brother Beichen, you're the best to me."

The car drove out of the garden and left.

Hua Fei carried the kettle to the kitchen to make tea.

The nanny quickly took the kettle from him. "Dr. Hua, you take a rest, I'll take care of it."

Hua Fei smiled and said, "Aunt Wang, you've had those spots on your face since you were young, haven't you?"

The nanny nodded repeatedly, "You're absolutely right. When I first came here, the young master pointed at my face and said that I should call him Grandma, not Auntie."

He said that the old lady had developed spots on her face.

Hua Fei smiled and said, "When you first came here, Zeze was still little, right?"

The nanny nodded, her face full of pity. "I came three years ago. Oh dear, the young master had no one to take care of him. In this freezing weather, he was only wearing a thin sweater."

"The young master developed a fever on my second day here. I took care of him for five days and five nights until the fever finally subsided, and he was no longer unfamiliar with me."

A hint of heartache appeared in Hua Fei's eyes. "Aunt Wang, you are a good nanny."

"Hey, just do your job well and get paid," the nanny said dismissively.

Hua Fei then asked, "I think Miss Jiang treats Zeze quite well; she must be a good stepmother."

The nanny paused for a moment, then forced a smile: "Okay, that's alright, but how can I put it? No matter how good it is, it can't compare to your own mother."

As she spoke, she had already brewed the tea and handed the teapot back to Hua Fei. "Dr. Hua, are you having the same three dishes for dinner again? Or should I steam a fish for you?"

Clearly, the nanny didn't want to talk much about Jiang Xiaowei.

Hua Fei smiled and took the teapot: "I'll prescribe a remedy for your freckles later, I can't just eat your fish for free."

The nanny exclaimed in surprise, "Dr. Hua, I can't afford your prescription."

"It's free, no charge," Huafei replied.
