Chapter 10

Chapter 10

A public lecture is a type of teaching conducted in an open format, where in addition to students, other teachers and leaders also attend. It is an important way to exchange teaching experiences and demonstrate teaching abilities.

Almost every teacher has to give a public lesson. This is commonplace for experienced teachers, but it can be stressful for new teachers.

Many new teachers are afraid of not being able to give a good open class, so they look for various opportunities to sit in on open classes given by excellent teachers in order to learn and imitate them.

In the morning, four new teachers walked into the school gate together.

Jiang Wanwan walked slowly along the roadside and suddenly remembered the message Lu Meng had sent her last night.

She said to the other three, "The first class this morning is my master's open class. Would you like to come and listen?"

Although it was a public Chinese language class, it was the first public class they had encountered since arriving at Yanyuan No. 1 Middle School, so everyone was naturally very excited.

Lu Dachuan and Tie Shengnan immediately raised their hands in agreement, while Ren He remained silent.

"Comrade Xiaohe, aren't you going?" Lu Dachuan put his arm around Ren He's shoulder, surprised that he didn't react.

They could all see that Ren He was the most diligent and eager to learn among them, and logically, he should have been the most proactive given this opportunity.

Ren He gave a wry smile and shook his head. "I can't go. I have class in the first period."

Well, there's really no other way. We can't just skip classes.

Although it's possible to reschedule classes, the excuses for doing so are too flimsy, and no one wants to bother other teachers over such a small matter.

Seeing Ren He's dejected look, Jiang Wanwan said, "It's okay, we'll listen to it later and then pass it on to you."

Her bright eyes were like stars. When Ren He looked into the woman's eyes, his eyelashes trembled, and he quickly looked away.

"Okay... okay, thank you."

"Don't be so polite, we're friends after all!" Lu Dachuan said righteously, and then raised an eyebrow at Tie Shengnan, as if they had just sworn brotherhood in the Peach Garden yesterday.

Seeing this, Tie Shengnan couldn't help but laugh out loud, "That's right, don't be so polite with us."

However, after a few seconds, Tie Shengnan seemed to have thought of something and said, "I need to talk to my master first, and I'll go after she agrees."

"What's wrong with that? You don't have classes this morning," Lu Dachuan said casually.

Tie Shengnan pursed her lips, lost in thought, and did not reply.

Lu Dachuan had only said it casually and didn't expect Tie Shengnan to give a serious answer.

Now that he'd arrived at the cafeteria entrance, his attention was already drawn to the aroma of breakfast, and he grinned foolishly as he rushed into the cafeteria first.

Jiang Wanwan, however, noticed something and gave Tie Shengnan a strange look.

Seeing that the other party did not speak, he felt embarrassed to press further, after all, it was a matter between master and disciple.

The art building is located to the east of the teaching building. It is mainly the activity space for courses such as art and music, and of course, it is also the office location for teachers of these subjects.

After finishing her meal, Tie Shengnan went to the office and found that her mentor, Shu Yi, had already arrived.

Shu Yi is a woman in her thirties who has a very elegant demeanor. Like most art teachers, she also has a great sense of style in her clothing.

There are several succulent plants on the desk, which are clearly well cared for.

In the southeast corner of the office, there is a vase filled with fresh flowers every week, which Shu Yi buys at her own expense.

From the decorations in her office to her personal lifestyle, it's clear that Shu Yi is someone who loves life to the fullest.

"Master, I heard that Director Lu is giving a public lecture this morning. I'd like to attend. Is that alright?"

Tie Shengnan looked at Shu Yi with some anticipation and sincerity.

From her first day at work, Shu Yi told Tie Shengnan that Tie Shengnan should consult her first if she had any plans.

Although Tie Shengnan has a carefree personality, she is actually meticulous despite her rough exterior, and she always respects her master.

Therefore, she truthfully told Shu Yi about wanting to attend the open class today.

Shu paused in her hand, which was pruning the flower branches. After a couple of seconds, she said calmly, "She doesn't teach art, so what are you going there for?"

Tie Shengnan was taken aback for a moment, "I just wanted to see the process..."

However, before she could finish speaking, Shu Yi snipped off a slightly withered lily and said firmly, "You're not allowed to go. Don't waste your time on useless things."

“How can this be considered useless?” Tie Shengnan immediately retorted.

Shu slammed a pair of scissors on the table, crossed her arms, and said angrily, "Am I the master or are you the master? You've only been here for two days, and you're already lecturing me?"

"I don't."

"Don't think you can look down on everyone just because you have a PhD. We've lived longer than you've walked."

Tie Shengnan saw that Shu Yi insisted on not letting her go, and although she was unwilling, she had no choice but to obey.

In the classroom where the open class was being held, Jiang Wanwan looked anxiously at the door.

The open class is about to start in less than ten minutes. Why hasn't Tie Shengnan arrived yet?

Suddenly, a message popped up on my phone.

When Jiang Wanwan opened the message, she discovered it was from Tie Shengnan.

"What's wrong?" Lu Dachuan asked from the chair next to him.

Jiang Wanwan was also surprised by this, but she still told Lu Dachuan the truth, saying that Tie Shengnan was not coming.

Why?

Lu Dachuan and Jiang Wanwan had known each other since childhood, so there was no need for much pretense. He simply took Jiang Wanwan's phone and read aloud, "My master needs to speak with me. You can listen first."

Shu Yi is ruthless for starting to enslave his apprentice so early in the morning.

Lu Dachuan pursed his lips and handed the phone back to Jiang Wanwan.

Jiang Wanwan wanted to send a message to ask about Tie Shengnan's situation when Lu Meng came over and asked her to help send out study sheets.

So she quickly got up, put her phone and laptop on the chair, and had to postpone sending the message.

"Ring ring ring—" The school bell rang.

Lu Meng was standing upright at the front of the classroom, waiting for the bell to ring. The back of the classroom was full of teachers who had come to observe the class, and the air was very stuffy.

Finally, the bell stopped ringing. Lu Meng clasped his hands in front of him and shouted, "Class begins!"

"stand up!"

As the class monitor's loud voice rang out, all the students immediately stood up, ready to greet Lu Meng.

At this moment, among the students who stood up, one figure stood out.

It was a pale yellow, standing out among the students in their blue school uniforms.

"Pfft—" Lu Dachuan couldn't help but chuckle, but fortunately it was quickly drowned out by the students' "Hello, teacher" and didn't attract any attention.

But Jiang Wanwan, who was standing next to him, heard it all clearly; he was mocking her.

The reason was simple: Jiang Wanwan, for some reason, suddenly stood up along with the students when the class monitor called for them to stand up.

How embarrassing!

Jiang Wanwan's face flushed, unsure whether to sit or stand, so she waited until all the students were seated before sitting down with them.

Lu Dachuan, standing next to her, was trying so hard not to laugh that his face turned red and he was shaking, which made Jiang Wanwan even more embarrassed.

Behind her was a teacher who was also trying not to laugh. Jiang Wanwan spent the entire class in agony, her mind wandering several times.

The bell finally rang, and Jiang Wanwan seemed to hear a pardon, rushing out of the classroom through the back door as the first person to do so.

She thought she had gotten used to her new identity, but one open class brought her back to reality.

Jiang Wanwan felt somewhat uncomfortable throughout the morning, especially when she ran into a teacher who was also attending the class; she wanted to walk with her head down.

Fortunately, the veteran teachers were knowledgeable and knew that new teachers were shy, so they didn't deliberately rub salt in their wounds.

At lunchtime, the four new teachers sat together again.

Lu Dachuan was the last to finish getting his food. Before he could even sit down, he excitedly exclaimed, "You guys know what? Jiang Wanwan made a huge fool of herself today! It cracked me up, hahaha—"

He seemed to have suddenly flipped a switch, laughing uncontrollably until he started honking like a goose before gradually calming down.

After he finished recounting Jiang Wanwan's "glorious deeds" from today's open class, even the usually composed Ren He couldn't help but burst into laughter.

“Wanwan still has a youthful mindset,” Ren He said with a smile, adjusting his glasses.

Tie Shengnan burst into laughter, giving Jiang Wanwan a thumbs-up and exclaiming, "Wanwan, awesome!"

No wonder she noticed Jiang Wanwan's expression was off earlier and thought something had happened to her, but it turned out to be for this reason.

Jiang Wanwan's cheeks began to flush slightly again after everyone's comments, despite her hard-won composure.

To avoid further teasing, she quickly changed the subject, looking at Tie Shengnan who was gnawing on a chicken leg, and asked, "Why didn't you come this morning?"

Normally, art class is not scheduled for the first period, so there shouldn't be any reason why Shu Yi suddenly asked Tie Shengnan to substitute for her.

Upon hearing this, Tie Shengnan swallowed a mouthful of meat, wiped the grease from her mouth with a tissue, and said, "I don't know why my master won't let me go. Maybe she's in a bad mood today."

She recalled Shu Yi's behavior that morning and really couldn't understand why the other person was suddenly angry.

Seeing that Tie Shengnan genuinely didn't know the reason, Jiang Wanwan had no choice but to give up.

Delicious food can always relieve fatigue. The four of them finished their meal and prepared to get up to empty their plates.

Just then, another group of teachers walked in through the cafeteria entrance.

One of the female teachers saw Jiang Wanwan and immediately walked over angrily.

"Teacher Jiang! Have you been doing anything about Pu Yuan in your class? She was actually reading extracurricular books during class today."

After saying that, she took a novel out of her bag, slammed it on the table, and her face was full of anger.

Jiang Wanwan's hand holding the plate trembled, her heart filled with complex emotions. "Teacher Wang, I'm so sorry. I already reprimanded her last time, I didn't expect..."

"Is this the result of all the education? Teacher Jiang should learn more from Director Lu about how to manage students!"

Teacher Wang seemed quite angry. Judging from how late she arrived at the cafeteria, Jiang Wanwan guessed that she had probably just finished criticizing Pu Yuan.

Faced with an angry teacher, Jiang Wanwan could only smile apologetically and calm him down before leaving to empty the plates.

Ren He and the others were also waiting for her. Listening to Teacher Wang's complaints, they all looked at Jiang Wanwan with sympathy.
