He could feel intermittent pain on his body, as if his hair was being pulled from his scalp. Qin Tao strained his eyes to look back and saw a Lu Nanchen he had never seen before.
The handsome and heroic face was now iron-cast. His eyes, as dark as ink, were so profound that it stirred the heart. His jaw-line was taut.
The hand gripping the back of his head was ice cold. Lu Nanchen had just finished washing the dishes.
How different he was while fighting, compared to his usual self. Just his fighting posture itself was enough to send chills down the spine.
He was truly angry now.
"You get the hell out of here, understand?" Lu Nanchen glared at him, gripping Qin Tao’s head tighter and applying even more force.
Having said his piece, he suddenly mustered strength, flung Qin Tao to the side and released his grip, then kicked him away a bit further.
"Leave." Then standing there, looking down at Qin Tao, Lu Nanchen hid his fury, took Yu Ting’s hand again and led her towards their room.
His grip on her hand was tight.
"Jealous." Yu Ting hurried from behind to catch up with him, walking shoulder to shoulder, resolute in her tone, a faint smile in her eyes, "I didn’t know you could fight."
His series of actions earlier were extremely smooth.
As one could tell, he had some impressive skills.
"Um." The man grunted in response.
If not for their familial relationship, Qin Tao would be lying on the ground by now.
"If he comes looking for you again, fight back."
Thinking of something, the man added.
"It’s self-defense." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

While there were some troubles on Yu Ting’s side, things at Lu’s mother’s place were not going well either. Not long after dinner when all the other guests had left, Ge Lin was still there.
After Lu’s mother finished her chores, she pulled her aside to chat.
"Happy New Year, sister." Lu’s mother said with a soft smile.
Since getting married, this was the first year Ge Lin had come home for the New Year.
Lu’s mother was pleasantly surprised and a bit happy. She hoped that this might renew the bond between the sisters.
"Happy New Year, happy New Year." Ge Lin rapidly responded and quickly moved to the next topic, "Your daughter-in-law is really a good catch."
She is beautiful and wealthy.
What more could Lu Nanchen want.
"Yes, yes, I too think Yu Ting is good." Without giving it much thought, Lu’s mother agreed. After spending these few days with Yu Ting, she genuinely felt this way.
"When will you let her come pay a New Year’s visit at my house? The second day of the New Year is for visiting the maternal home.... or else, let’s do it on the third day. Let her come pay us a New Year’s visit then."
Without seeking Lu’s mother’s opinion, Ge Lin made the decision on her own, her eyes gleaming with delight.
She was even looking forward to what expensive gifts Yu Ting would bring.
As per the New Year’s visit tradition, the younger generation pays respects first.
Then, the elder generation can choose whether to visit or not.
Ge Lin was the first elderly person to volunteer herself.
At her suggestion, Lu’s mother’s smile faltered a little.
"We’ll have to see what Nanchen thinks about it."
"What else could he think? Isn’t it customary to pay respects to the elders of the family on New Year’s?"
Having not received the response she expected, Ge Lin frowned in retort.
"Do you know about Yu Ting’s start-up?"
"I do. Nanchen mentioned it briefly. We discussed it a few days ago."
Children have their own blessings, although Lu’s mother knew about Yu Ting’s start-up, she didn’t intrude much. She just remarked, ’If you need any help, don’t hesitate to ask us.’
She answered truthfully, having no grudge against her own younger sister.
On hearing this, Ge Lin let out a laugh and proceeded to move the conversation forward.
