Yu Ting took off her heavy coat, rolled up her sleeves, and began to clean.
By the time she had given a cursory cleanup, it was already noon, and the dorm was much cleaner than when she first arrived.
As she was packing up the dormitory trash, Yu Ting was on the phone with Lu Nanchen.
She quickly recounted her situation to him, confirming that she didn’t need any help, then asked about his situation— was he good on clothes? shoes? furniture? Did he want her to buy a few packs of Longjing tea?
As she chatted, Yu Ting bagged up the trash. After packing up a few bags and finishing their conversation, she hung up the phone and headed downstairs to meet Lu Nanchen for lunch.
After taking out the trash, Yu Ting dusted her hands off and headed for the faculty dormitory.
When she was almost at the dorm building, she saw Lu Nanchen coming her way, still wearing his morning outfit.
"Let’s go, time to eat." Yu Ting said casually, linking her arm naturally with one of Lu Nanchen’s. Her long hair fluttered in the wind as she strode forward, and her delicate but strong facial features were well displayed.
She then led Lu Nanchen to find a restaurant for lunch.
Lu Nanchen gave an affirmative grunt, unconsciously quickened his pace to match hers.
About half an hour later, they arrived at an upscale seafood restaurant near the school.
Upon Lu Nanchen’s indifference about what to eat, Yu Ting decided to bring him here. After settling down on a seat, she took the menu from the waiter and started picking dishes from top to bottom before handing it over to Lu Nanchen.
The man sat upright, brows lifting slightly as he skimmed the menu.
As expected.
There, in front of his eyes, was various seafood costing hundreds per pound.
Twelve pounds would cost a month’s salary, one month’s salary yields twelve pounds.
Lu Nanchen picked a few nutritious dishes, then handed the menu to the waiting waiter.
After a ten-minute wait, the dishes arrived one by one.
Yu Ting started eating right away.
Lu Nanchen swapped the plate of shrimp with a plate of scallops, put down his chopsticks, and started peeling shrimp for Yu Ting with his slender and clean fingers.
He knew Yu Ting liked seafood, especially shrimp.
A woman eating, a man silently peeling, an image of harmony.
Compared to the focused Lu Nanchen, Yu Ting ate much more and naturally picked up food for him when she found something tasty.
"Try this, it’s good."
Yu Ting would say it every few minutes, and then she stopped talking and just directly reached over with her chopsticks.
After a while, she picked up a piece of tender, creamy oyster.
Lu Nanchen looked at the oyster, his expression growing solemn as he took a bite, gently biting the chopsticks. After a few bites, his Adam’s apple moved as he swallowed.
Watching this, a hint of a smile tugged at the corner of Yu Ting’s mouth, her eyes filled with amusement.
She picked up another piece of fish and offered it to Lu Nanchen. While the fish was still in his mouth, she pressed on Lu Nanchen’s lower teeth with her chopsticks, forcing him to open his mouth wider, and then slowly brushed his sensitive tongue with another pair of chopsticks.
Once.
Twice.
