Four hours can feel incredibly long if spent idly. With nothing else to do, Lu Nanchen decided to visit the place where he used to live during his school days in the Sanqing District.
Having made up his mind, Lu Nanchen moved, waved goodbye to a colleague, then left the securities company to head towards his old dwelling based on his memory.
Lu Nanchen drove for several minutes before arriving at the housing complex. The deserted look of the complex from a distance took him aback. His eyes widened slightly in surprise.
When he was still in school, this complex was already old, with weathered walls. It’s located somewhere remote in Jiangqi City.
Now, six or seven years later, most of the people had moved out to be closer to the city centre. The place was deserted, with peeling paint and an unkept appearance.

The place had changed tremendously over time and felt different.
After taking a few steps in, Lu Nanchen felt no need to proceed further.
There was nothing of interest to see anymore. The place had been abandoned.
Crunch.
He took a step, walking on scattered pieces of peeling paint, creating a crisp sound.
Lu Nanchen’s eyes, which had been looking straight ahead, suddenly shifted to the side. He wanted to take one last good look at the place where he grew up, but his gaze caught a young man standing against the wall.
The young man was roughly his age but dressed in an extremely fashionable manner. His skin was in good condition; it was obviously well-maintained.
Having spent a great deal of time with Yu Ting, and having had exposure to Zuo Fugui and Song Yue, Lu Nanchen easily recognized the designer labels the young man was sporting from head to toe.
Next to the young man was a wall covered in climbing vines, devoid of attention and overgrown due to years of neglect. The ground was littered with weeds and decaying leaves. The young man’s appearance starkly contrasted with the derelict surroundings.
He didn’t seem to be a resident of this complex.
Upon seeing Lu Nanchen, the young man quickly averted his gaze.
Despite the subtle action, Lu Nanchen noticed. A suspicion took root in his mind, and he approached the man.
"I want to ask something. Is this complex being demolished? When is it due to begin...?"
Lu Nanchen’s advance made the young man even more uncomfortable, making him restless.
He had been assigned by Li Heng to stake out the place every day, observing the whereabouts of Lu Nanchen’s parents or close friends.
Instead, he ended up bumping into Lu Nanchen himself.
This was bad news.
All he wanted to do was to secretly gather some information. He didn’t expect to come face to face with Lu Nanchen!
Even though he had a companion lurking somewhere close, the young man was frightened.
"Hmm?"
Seeing that the young man didn’t respond, Lu Nanchen asked again, his eyes more intense this time.
Something about this man seemed off.
"Yes, it’s being demolished. Probably at the end of June," the young man replied, coming up with a random timeline. He was thinking, why would when this run-down building is getting demolished matter to him.
"Oh."
Lu Nanchen continued to approach the man without stopping, his steps steady.
"So what are you doing here, huh?"
