Chapter 344 - 343: Wheelchair Child Xue Ruirui_1

"Your parents are graduates of prestigious universities, but you’re not. You should think about your actual circumstances before you speak next time."

With so many audience members present, Yu Ting didn’t need to phrase it so harshly, nor was there a need for a full-blown confrontation.

Yu Ting voiced the thoughts many in the room were harboring. After her three statements, the whole room fell silent at a visibly swift pace.

Zhou Guorui, seated next to her, stroked his beard in agreement with Yu Ting.

Having sat dumbfounded on the couch, Zhang Zhiwu’s face contorted into an angry scowl. He felt insulted but was both helpless to address her action. All he could muster was a gritted retaliation, "I’m doing quite well."

"Oh."

Yu Ting quickly brushed off Zhang Zhiwu, then urged, "Let’s vote quickly, it’s about that time."

The sixth contestant was rushed onto the stage just two minutes later.

"Alright, we now ask the audience and judges to place their votes." The statement determining Mr. Zhang’s standing was left unsaid.

For the previous five contestants, the host would always give a ’decision on xxx’s standing’. This was omitted when it came to Zhang Zhiwu.

Joking aside, with the atmosphere as it was, there was absolutely no hope for him to advance.

Initially during the screening of contestant profiles, no one would’ve predicted that the person fervently advocating for building primary schools, Zhang Zhiwu, would veer so far off topic when discussing his criteria for choosing a spouse.

As expected, when the host and Zhang Zhiwu stood in the center of the stage waiting for the voting to conclude, only 2 votes were cast.

There was no suspense.

With the stark data in front of everyone, it was as if a slap had struck Zhang Zhiwu’s face. There was nothing more to say, he exited the stage.

After this brief interlude, the show continued recording.

Barring Zhang Zhiwu, the remaining contestants were all average individuals. The recording proceeded smoothly, and soon the last individual was ready, the tenth contestant.

A little girl in a wheelchair who was wheeled onto the stage by her mother. The child was quite small, approximately around six or seven years old, with round plump cheeks. Her bright, glossy eyes sparkled under the stage lights, her smile was sweet, she waved her chubby hands towards the audience and judges.

When compared to her unscathed arms, her legs concealed beneath a thin blanket were full of injection marks.

"Hello, brothers and sisters~"

The child’s sweet voice echoed on stage, paired with a smile.

The audience, who were just moments ago frightened by Zhang Zhiwu, felt instantaneously healed.

"Aww... such a cute little girl, how old are you this year, and what’s your name?"

"Hmm? Brother, what are you saying?"

Xue Ruirui, a girl of acute perception, noticed that the host was speaking to her, and she moved closer to listen to him.

The host was taken aback.

This was unexpected; why couldn’t she hear him from such a close distance?

Then he rephrased and asked again in a louder tone, "Brother is asking your name and how old you are this year?"

"Oh, I got it now! My name is Xue Ruirui, Brother, and I just turned seven this year~"

Upon hearing what the host asked, the little girl responded clearly.

She was particularly cheerful, always smiling whether she spoke or not, complete with a pair of dimples.

After the male host admired her genuinely, he sensed something off about the little girl and asked her mother about her situation.

The child’s mother was as thin as Xue Ruirui, but while the girl was probably weakened by illness, the mother seemed simply exhausted. Deep bags hung under her eyes, and she spoke softly. "One day, when Ruirui was five and half and returning from kindergarten, she was involved in a car accident that resulted in severe brain trauma. The doctors said that if she couldn’t walk half a year after treatment, she would never be able to recover fully. Half a year has come and gone, and Ruirui has been in recuperation for a year, and still, she cannot stand up..."
