The mother spoke, touching her little girl’s head, sighing again and again.
The male host’s expression was also not very good, a bit sympathetic, as the young girl was stripped of her right to walk and run at such a young age.
Then his gaze shifted to the distinct object in the little girl’s ear, squinting his eyes to look more carefully.
Is that... a hearing aid?
"Ma’am, your daughter’s ear..."
"A skull base fracture resulted in auditory nerve damage, which greatly reduced her hearing,"
The mother explained.
The mentors and audience felt their hearts tighten.
That car accident had truly ruined this 7-year-old girl’s life.
At this point, the amount of compensation from the car accident was no longer important; it had ruined the girl’s life. She had lost so many activities that peers her age could enjoy.
The host’s face showed appropriate distress upon hearing this, no wonder she hadn’t heard him clearly the first time he asked her a question.
After the two of them exchanged a few words, a short film began to play on the big screen.
First, there were a few photos of their old house, a rather large three-bedroom apartment in the center of Jiangqi City. One might say they used to be a happy, well-off family.
Then were several photos of Xue Ruirui’s medical records and her lying in bed. She was hooked up to many devices and IV bags. Her small body was inserted with many tubes. Her face was pale and her hair was covered with a net, while the bandage on the back of her head was wet from blood.
Later, the background music suddenly switched to a more cheerful tone.
The film was showing Xue Ruirui’s life after regaining consciousness. The heavily debt-loaded couple had recorded every bit of their child’s life from when she was six till when she turned eight.
At the end, there were a few pictures that Xue Ruirui had drawn; a happy family of three, with herself sitting in the chair in the middle, and one of a group of people dancing.
The screen froze on this image.
Once the music stopped, Xue Ruirui chuckled and said, "I want to learn to dance."
"I think the sisters dancing on TV are very beautiful! I want to be just like them. I’m not afraid of hardship or pain, I want to stand on the stage just like them!"
The girl’s loud voice resonated in the recording studio.
Children’s dreams are always pure and beautiful.
The mother touched Xue Ruirui’s head, "My husband and I tried to discourage her several times but it was useless, so we eventually decided to respect her wishes. We know she may not succeed and could possibly give up midway, but at least we let her try."
The child may not understand, but they, as parents, do. Dancing is tiring.
Ruirui had already been through so many difficult days. The couple really did not want her to suffer more.
"Our Ruirui is also very beautiful," the host said, lamenting the impermanence of life.
Ruirui leaned in closer, listening intently, then smiled and replied to the host, "Brother, you’re handsome too!"
She was pleased to be praised.
The four mentors below watched Xue Ruirui’s interaction, not knowing what Zhou Guorui and Wen Shan felt, but both Yu Ting and Ling Wanlin felt their hearts tighten to some extent.
If they were in that situation.
"200,000."
Ling Wanlin stated her offer. They had seen many children like her since the establishment of the foundation.
If they could help, they should.
"800,000."
As soon as Ling Wanlin finished, Yu Ting chimed in with a kind smile, "She might not succeed, and she might give up halfway, but at least let her try."
