That night, Yu Ting experienced what it was like to be with an insecure Lu Nanchen in bed. From the moment he reached into the bedside table to retrieve something, every touch was gentle, almost reverent. They were inseparable, even their fingers intertwined in the most intimate manner.
Lu Nanchen didn’t do much; mostly he kissed her, showering her with affection. After, he took Yu Ting into the bathroom to clean up, and then carried her back to bed to sleep.
The woman in his arms had been busy all day and night and was so tired her eyes were closed.
"Lu Nanchen, you’re holding me so tight... It’s a bit stuffy..."
"Stuffy?"
"Mmm..." She meant: could he loosen his grip a bit?
"The air conditioner is set to ventilation mode. Go to sleep."

Meanwhile, elsewhere.
Zhou Chengyan was sitting in a private dinner room, playing with his phone after a call. After a few moments, he put it back on the table.
Across from him, Li Heng leaned in and asked, "Why does the last voice sound a bit like Lu Nanchen’s?"
"It was him. I got caught trying to steal his girl."
Zhou Chengyan answered straightforwardly, crossing his legs.
"Then why did you hang up? Summon him here." Li Heng’s fierce intentions were clear in his eyes.
Zhou Chengyan sneered, "Are you teaching me how to handle my business?"
"Are you in such a hurry for him to come over and beat me up?"
Recalling what Lu Nanchen had just said on the phone, he could almost hear the words popping out from between his teeth, one by one. If they were face to face, he might’ve been punched in the face by now.
Thinking of it, Zhou Chengyan propped his head on one hand: "I’m not in a hurry. Let’s just play around for a while, and agitate him for a few more days before making a move."
A warning?
What a joke, he wasn’t going to listen.
Seeing Zhou Chengyan’s decisive decision, Li Heng decided not to argue any further; each should do their own thing.
"Oh right, what is your plan?" Zhou Chengyan asked Li Heng, keeping the same position.
Li Heng hated Lu Nanchen even more than he did.
At his question, Li Heng’s expression turned serious and violent. He showed a row of white teeth, "I’m planning to mess with his wife’s career."
Zhou Chengyan just hummed in response to Li Heng’s declaration.
The food hadn’t arrived yet, and they sat in silence for a while until Li Heng, who had been tapping the table, suddenly sprung into action.
He pulled out his phone and made a call to one of his henchmen, "Go find out more about Yu Ting from VG Entertainment, and compile all her past scandals and controversies."
The person at the other end of the call agreed readily, "Yes."
About two or three hours later, when Zhou Chengyan and Li Heng were finishing their meal, a call came in for Li Heng.
His henchman had completed the task.
"Hello? How did your investigation go?" A satisfied Li Heng leaned back in his seat, the expression on his face suggesting he was confident about the impending conquest.
Once she was exposed, he’d hire a bunch of internet trolls and ensure it became hot news. He’d get it trending non-stop for three days and nights; he’d then see how much public opinion she had left.
