In her view, Wei Qinghe’s background was shameful, let alone compared with others in the entertainment industry.
The woman spoke bluntly and harshly. Listening, Wei Qinghe frowned deeply, appearing terribly pained, but stubbornly retorted, "Shame? Besides, I enjoy this job."
Living under the spotlight, he could sing and earn money quickly.
Wei Qinghe had no reason not to like it.
Even more, several mentors had previously mentioned... that he had talent in singing and could further develop it.
Upon hearing this, Meng Jin sneered, "No shame? You’re not ashamed?"
Meng Jin was the wealthy daughter of Jian Hongkun, who had abandoned Wei Qinghe to remarry. Discovering the existence of Wei Qinghe and his mother a few years back, she felt uncomfortable, viewing this as evidence of her husband’s promiscuity. As a result, she had several arguments with Jian Hongkun, harbored resentment, and hoped neither Wei Qinghe nor his mother would fare well. She particularly resented their intrusion into her life.
They were truly eyesores.
Having been spoiled since childhood, she was overly self-centered.
Now Wei Qinghe was entering the entertainment industry, which would undoubtedly create more opportunities for people to discover the smudge on her husband’s reputation.
She was displeased.
Meng Jin’s words had Wei Qinghe bristling, and he retorted angrily, "What shame is there in this! Firstly, my mother was not the other woman. Secondly, she did not interfere with someone else’s marriage. What’s shameful about this! She was clearly the most pitiable one."
"And what about you? Aren’t you ashamed?"
"If not for your mother’s premarital pregnancy with you, would she have been alienated by the family and ended up as she is now?"
Meng Jin clearly expressed her thoughts. As for that woman, it was bearable—she was merely a helpless woman who had been ruthlessly abandoned without any power or status. The real disgrace was Wei Qinghe. Unacknowledged by his father, with his ill mother confined to bed and deserted by his grandmother’s family, what was the point of his existence?
Meng Jin’s words stunned Wei Qinghe into silence before he looked pained.
"You should have been aborted from the very start."
Only then would she have been spared the embarrassment of having to face her husband’s illegitimate son.
"And you’re speaking from a supposed moral high ground, are you?" A divergent female voice sounded in the room, as Yu Ting pushed the door and entered, catching some of Meng Jin’s comments.
"If his mother isn’t bothered, why are you?"
"Who the hell do you think you are?"
Her words struck Meng Jin’s face like merciless slaps.
Seeing Yu Ting, the girl who had openly defied her at the recording, Meng Jin’s temper flared. She glared at Yu Ting and slapped the armrest in anger, "Is this how you speak to your elders? I am his stepmother, what’s wrong with me lecturing him!"
"So I can lecture the younger generation, but not him?"
"What kind of stepmother are you?" Yu Ting responded bluntly, "Did he acknowledge you as a stepmother?"
"So you’re right? And who are you to him?" Meng Jin retorted.
Not wanting to waste her breath, Yu Ting walked straight to Wei Qinghe, gestured and said, "Let’s go. Get something to eat first. We’ve got a long recording session ahead, no time for lunch."
Weiqinghe, with his red-rimmed eyes, glanced at Yu Ting, hesitated for a moment, then replied with a nod, "Okay."
Then they started to walk out.
Seeing this, Meng Jin, in a fit of rage, spat out, "What are you two doing? Are you ignoring me?"
As she spoke, she strode forward, attempting to grab Yu Ting’s arm fiercely, but Yu Ting sensed it in advance. She grabbed Meng Jin’s wrist with one hand, applying constant pressure, until Meng Jin’s hand ached.
"You’ve no respect at all."
