Zhou Chengyan originally thought that a short conversation wouldn’t be enough, but a night’s worth should do the trick.
However, when Lu Nanchen heard these words, they seemed to take on an entirely different meaning.
He loosened and tightened his grip on the bat multiple times, before quickly striding over to Zhou Chengyan. With one hand, he seized him by the collar and dragged him down to the first floor, hurling him to the side so violently that several tables and chairs were toppled over.
Lu Nanchen raised his bat and swung it, only to have it caught in Zhou Chengyan’s palm.
"The summer heat getting to you?" Zhou Chengyan looked up at Lu Nanchen, his palm searing from the impact of the bat. The redness spread invisibly across his palm.
Lu Nanchen couldn’t be bothered to waste words on him. The two men looked at each other - one standing, one crouching.
They stood off that way for a while.
Then Lu Nanchen kicked Zhou Chengyan’s upper body, causing him to stagger.
As Zhou Chengyan was steadying himself, he noticed a row of wine bottles, quickly picked one up and threw it at Lu Nanchen.
Lu Nanchen’s eyes were locked on the flying bottle and he swung his bat at it.
Bang.
The bat penetrated the bottle’s center, sending shards of glass flying in all directions, scratching both Zhou Chengyan and Lu Nanchen.
A shard of glass flew up too high and grazed Lu Nanchen’s cheek, causing faint pain.
As if he found a new toy, Zhou Chengyan threw several more wine bottles.
Bang.
Bang.
Bang.
...
Bang.
In the end, the bat, now stained with wine, landed on Zhou Chengyan, who fell to the ground as if all his energy was drained.
His clothes were wet with wine and blood.
Lu Nanchen didn’t fare much better; his handsome face was cut and blood constantly seeped from the wound. The beads of blood appeared exceptionally bright against his pale face.
After the fight, Lu Nanchen pressed the bat on Zhou Chengyan’s left chest, pinning him down.
"Stop bothering my wife, understand?"
...
"Don’t yap if you’re out of your mind."
...
The situation here was still unfolding.
Meanwhile, the Song Group was even busier. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Opening a new mall in a remote area was already a complex task, and in the hustle and bustle of the summer holiday season, it was even more challenging as there was a constant stream of things to do.
Song Yue was pulling an all-nighter in the office, processing files.
There was a phone on his desk, on a call, in speaker mode with Song Zhan.
"I might be coming home late tonight, got quite a bit of work at the office," Song Yue said, putting away a file he just finished working on. While talking to the person on the other end of the phone, he was preparing to review another set of documents.
"Oh, so you called just to tell me this? I thought it was something serious," Song Zhan’s voice came through from the other end of the phone.
The speaker not only amplified his voice, but also the sound of him flipping through paper.
This was a sound Song Yue knew all too well.
"It’s fine if you come home late tonight, I don’t mind."
"I won’t be coming home tonight."
After a pause, Song Zhan added, accompanied by the constant click of a mouse.
The brothers, in different locations, were both busy with their work.
