Despite the throngs of onlookers being overwhelming, Yu Ting maneuvered herself and Lu Nanchen through the crowd. It was only when they got closer that they realized what the vendor was offering.
A granny, likely in her sixties, sat on a small wooden stool. Arrayed before her was a sheet of paper that had ’Fortune-telling’ boldly written across the top. Below this were smaller words: birth chart readings, divination, fate matching, and bamboo fortune sticks.
In the middle was a large circular diagram marked with the heavenly stems and earthly branches.
A bamboo tube was in the corner of the paper, containing about a dozen bamboo sticks. It was unclear if they were old from frequent use or just hadn’t been changed in a while. Regardless, they looked worn out.
In the most eye-catching spot was a signboard that unabashedly declared: 20 yuan per session, no refunds, and no physical attacks allowed.
At that moment, the granny was reading the face of a young man sitting across from her, leaning in to scrutinize his features closely.
While examining him, she touched her chin and squinted her eyes before exclaiming, "Your brows are disorderly, there’s prominence in your bone structure, wrinkles in your philtrum, and sunken eye sockets... Have you started a business recently?"
The young man, seemingly taken by surprise, broke into a wide smile of joy.

Furious, he stood up abruptly. Having paid for the session only to be given such bad news, his resentment grew. He pushed his way through the crowd and stormed off cursing under his breath.
Witnessing this spectacle, the initially enthusiastic crowd was now hesitant, unsure whether they should approach or refrain lest they hear something disheartening.
The granny had rather intimidating features, with high cheekbones and a stand-offish demeanor. However, her reputation for eerie accuracy had spread in the area, drawing a considerable number of people seeking her advice.
However, that didn’t mean one should willingly part with cash just to meet with disappointment.
As the crowd continued to hesitate, Yu Ting led Lu Nanchen a few steps forward. They sat down in front of the granny, and Yu softly spoke, "Please read mine."
Then, Lu Nanchen promptly paid the granny 20 yuan by scanning her QR code with his phone.
After adjusting her glasses and giving her blessing, the granny began studying Yu Ting’s face and asked her for the details of her birth chart.
