Lu Nanchen was eating in the next room and checking his watch, planning to go outside in an hour and a half to see if Yu Ting was ready. However, before the hour and a half was up, he heard a woman’s shriek resonating from Room 303.
It wasn’t Yu Ting’s voice, nor was it Mister Zhang’s, who was negotiating with his wife.
After brief contemplation, Lu Nanchen left Room 304 and headed towards Room 303. Opening the slightly ajar door, he was greeted with the sight of Shen Ruchu yelling and getting ready to physically engage with his wife. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
He was initially taken aback and then filled with irresistible anger.
Has Shen Ruchu lost her mind, forgetting all her years of education and upbringing?
"Na... Nanchen," Shen Ruchu was leaning by the wall. Seeing who it was, she felt awkward and embarrassed, stammering through her words, too flustered to take notice of the scrapes on her palms.
Lu Nanchen stood next to Shen Ruchu. He suddenly crouched and gripped her jaw with a broad palm, forcing her to look up at him.
Forced to raise her head at an uncomfortable angle, Shen Ruchu felt a twinge in her jaw, and her neck ached from the strain.
"Didn’t I tell you? No more scheming! Now what were you planning to do to my wife?"
Lu Nanchen hissed dangrously, each word punctuated by a sharpening of grip on her jaw.
Up close, one could hear the creaking sound of Shen Ruchu’s jaw under the pressure applied.
"I... I..."
Shen Ruchu, sitting on the cold porcelain-tiled floor, found herself cornered by the man she had loved for decades. As he gripped her jaw tightly, sneering and insulting her, Shen Ruchu felt a bitter sadness welling in her.
"Your wife started it. She interfered with my company’s business first. I was just..."
A scoff.
At her words, Yu Ting, sat comfortably on a chair nearby, legs crossed, looking down with mockery at Shen Ruchu, snickered.
"What did I interfere with? Did I upset you, just by purchasing some shares? Is there a law prohibiting someone from buying stock?"
"You’re just carrying on with your nonsense! Why would you just randomly decide to buy my company’s stocks? You were clearly stirring up trouble, planning to ruin me!"
Shen Ruchu raised her voice in return, her gaze piercing Yu Ting with sharp accusation.
"Yes, I was indeed plotting against you," Yu Ting unabashedly admitted, finding Shen Ruchu’s behavior distasteful and puzzling.
"You!"
"Stop glaring at her."
Shen Ruchu’s bristling stare towards Yu Ting was quickly intercepted by Lu Nanchen, who twisted back her chin forcefully. His gaze was cold and harsh.
Some people simply came along just to flex their power.
Lu Nanchen was such a person.
No matter how he looked at Shen Ruchu right now, she was an eyesore. Either from a physiological or psychological perspective or educational philosophy, medicine or veterinary science, she was utterly displeasing.
After giving a cold glance at Shen Ruchu, Lu Nanchen pushed her back against the adjacent wall, and let go only to stand up and turn towards Yu Ting.
The atmosphere around Lu Nanchen immediately softened. He bent down, examining Yu Ting up and down, asking, "Are you okay? Did she hurt you anywhere?"
The way Lu Nanchen inquired, both his demeanor and tone suggested that if Shen Ruchu had indeed hurt Yu Ting, he would make her pay back in full.
Yu Ting shook her head lightly, her hand supporting her chin as her fingers gently tapped her cheek, lost in thought.
