The thirteen middle-aged men in the meeting room stared with big eyes due to the arrival of Yu Ting.
Upon hearing what she had to say, they all fell into an unending silence.
Their silence became more pronounced when they saw Yu Ting’s expression, that of someone poised on the brink of victory, of someone in control.
How vexing.
They hadn’t known.
"Nonsense, if you held a stake in Southwest Entertainment, how could we not know?" One man who initially objected to Yu Ting paused for a moment to contemplate before continuing.
This wasn’t the first shareholders’ meeting; previous ones had been held without incident, no loss or gain in attendance.
But now, Yu Ting has suddenly appeared.
It seemed impossible.
Yu Ting, calmly and slowly, walked towards the conference table, one hand holding the document indicating her shares, while the other hand pulled out a chair for her to sit on.
Alone, facing the thirteen men, Yu Ting crossed one leg over the other, her hand resting on the table. She pushed the small pile of papers towards the men, "Don’t take my word for it, see for yourselves."
The men, glancing at each other uneasily, picked up the documents and began to read.
Yu Ting, her hands crossed on the table, added, "Shen Ruchu has 34%, I have 35%."
On the hard copy documents, the men indeed saw Yu Ting’s name along with the percentage of the shares she held.
Just as she had said.
35%.
The meeting room first fell silent then quickly stirred into a heated conversation.
"When did Yu Ting acquire 35% of Southwest Entertainment? Even combined, we barely hold 41% of the shares. Where did she get this 35% from?"
Someone finally voiced the obvious yet critical question, leaving others stunned.
Then a swift thinker said, "Isn’t it obvious? Didn’t Shen Ruchu give away 25% of her shares to a man named Lu out of obligation to her grandfather? Since Yu Ting’s shares weren’t acquired from us, they must have been acquired from him and three others."
From the start, only 75% of the shares of Southwest Entertainment were in circulation. Shen Ruchu held 34% and Lu Nanchen held the 25% that had remained stagnant for several years.
It was these shares that enabled Yu Ting to quickly surpass Shen Ruchu’s shareholdings in such a short time.
Otherwise, acquiring 35% from remaining sixteen shareholders would have been far too complicated.
It would have been impossible to accomplish this in less than half a year.
However, the reality was that Shen Ruchu gave 25% to Lu Nanchen, who then willingly gave the entirety of his stake to Yu Ting.
"Ah, blinded by beauty!" said an older man in the crowd, sighing deeply after his comment.
One thing was for a woman to be in power, but another for it to be a hopeless romantic like Shen Ruchu.
"Speechless! I warned Shen Ruchu from the start – don’t leave that man so many shares. Despite objections, she stubbornly left him 25%, and now you see where we are," said a particularly hot-tempered man, visibly irritated and loud."I say it’s high time for a change of CEO! Let’s avoid having Shen Ruchu be Southwest Entertainment’s downfall!"
With that, he bitterly shrugged his arms as if he had accepted his fate, the expression on his face unmistakably vexed.
Watching the thirteen shareholders voicing their differing opinions, Yu Ting took a moment to enjoy. She was about to say something when--
The tap-tap-tap of high heels against the floor echoed from beyond the slightly-open door to the office.
Not more than two minutes later, the door was forcefully pushed open by Shen Ruchu.
"Yu Ting!"
Having anticipated Shen Ruchu’s entrance, Yu Ting tilted her chair back, crossed her arms across her chest and propped herself against the backrest. A smile playing on her lips, she looked towards Shen Ruchu, her gaze full of hidden meanings.
Her bright red lips moved as she spoke.
"I’m here."
