Always thinking of things on a whim wasn’t a long-term strategy. He had to come up with a sustainable way to lose money.
Yu Ting was contemplating what kind of company to start, and soon received a response from Song Zhan on his phone.
Nefelibata: ? Are you sure you have enough money to start a company?
Yu Ting read the message, then took a screenshot of the balance in his card account and sent it to him, clearly showing nine zeroes.
I Want to be Rich: Yes, but I want to go big.
Nefelibata: ! Where did you get this much money from? What big thing are you intending to play?
One was penniless, the other wanted to spend money; they hit it off immediately, chatting with increasing delight. Song Zhan quickly called him, a deep but barely contained excitement in his voice, "What are you thinking? I can do anything, experience in agriculture, real estate, and technology, or even the entertainment circle, I’ve been learning a lot about it recently."
Yu Ting chuckled subtly on his end, sharing his plan.
"Start an entertainment company; I’ll bankroll it, you just need to help me run it."
What’s the fastest way to burn through money? Invest huge sums of money to hire major stars for a flop movie. The money burns the fastest.
Not to mention potentially throwing money at several flops at the same time.
"An entertainment company?" Song Zhan hesitated, unsure why Yu Ting chose to start a company that, "Yes, it’s possible, but it burns money like hell. If you choose a wrong script, you will lose everything."
"That’s okay, you can pick any script, I trust you."
Yu Ting replied swiftly, feeling confident they could lose money under his direction, marching down the fairway of completing one mission after another.
Upon hearing this, Song was somewhat moved, and a bit excited. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
It’d been a long time since someone had chosen him so confidently.
This time I must work hard!
The two quickly established their target, and then Yu Ting sat at his desk, discussing a series of processes in detail with Song Zhan.
VG Entertainment.
CEO: Yu Ting
Vice President: Song Zhan
Then they would have to recruit staff for each department, from public relations, agents, finance, to janitors from the labor market.
For this, Yu Ting was inexperienced, but Song Zhan had significant experience having started three companies and recruited each time, so he was put in charge.
The decision about where to locate the company headquarters was left to Yu Ting; when the time came, he would find a real estate agent, if it was cheap, he would buy, if it was expensive, he would lease.
So the two set about making a series of arrangements for this plan in their respective bedrooms. On Yu Ting’s white desk, a desk lamp illuminated a small stack of fresh A4 papers, detailing all the various arrangements and budget distributions.
Ning Xuan wasn’t sure why Yu Ting suddenly became active, talking on the phone for so long, so she paid a bit more attention.
"We can hire fewer people for the PR department initially, let’s budget 400,000 for it."
"We can also hire fewer agents, later each one can manage multiple artists, let’s budget 500,000 for it."
"Hire a few people for the Finance Department, budget 400,000."
...
Yu Ting put the call on speakerphone and placed it aside, as Song Zhan continued to meticulously plan out each department while Ting idly rocked his chair.
Ning Xuan: ?
Did she heard just a million was gone in such a short time?
The more she listened, the more she realized she wasn’t quite able to chime in on these issues. Ning Xuan went back to her bed and continued eating her proverbial popcorn.
The two continued their discussion late into the night.
"There’s also the need to make connections with other companies, directors, advertisers, this might require a big budget."
"Finally, we’ll have to recruit artists, lots of trainees, and then based on the number of artists we recruit, we’ll consider how many agents we need."
"We should take some time to scout out talent together."
