Smack.
Just as Yu Ting, a little out of sorts, turns around, a man beside her moves even quicker, slapping away the intrusive hand of another man. Lu Nanchen’s long leg sweeps out, landing heavily on that man’s calf, causing him to crumple to his knees. He then kicks the man in the chest.
He sends the man flying, crashing into a wall more than a meter away.
Just as Yu Ting was preparing to step in and punch the mouthy idiot, she sees this unfolding and freezes on the spot.
Lu Nanchen had arrived, dressed in the black suit she’d bought him.
His slightly angry expression and suited up appearance were highlighted by the corridor lighting, giving him an almost divine aura.
"Lu Nanchen."
"Hmm, I’m here to take you home."
Having cleared the area, Lu Nanchen steps forward and places his thick men’s coat over Yu Ting, offering her his arm.
Close-up, the smell of alcohol on Yu Ting is much stronger.
She’s been drinking, a lot.
Yu Ting leans into Lu Nanchen and leans on his hand, inhaling his enticing scent.
The warm palm of a mature man.
Her emotions surge, even more than when she is sober.
"Bloody hell, who the fuck are you? Do you think you can hit me? You must be crazy!" the man rises to his feet, glaring angrily at Lu Nanchen.
"Shut up! A corporate bigwig whining so much, and what am I doing at VG Entertainment? Acting as the CEO?" Their moment of intimacy is ruined by the man’s shrill voice. Yu Ting rebukes him, and after mustering all the energy to complete her sentence, her muscles relax again.
Another humanoid behaving from his lower half.
"Her husband," Lu Nanchen answers, standing tall, fearless.
Uh...
The man is now dumbstruck, full of stupefaction and silent. Sweat trickles down his face as he stumbles back to his own room.
He had hit on the CEO only to have her husband catch him in the act.
Shit.
...
He had defended his wife and even put his jacket on her. Lu Nanchen stands by her side and gently suggests, "Let’s go home."
"We can’t go yet... The meal’s not finished... and everyone’s still here..." Yu Ting speaks softly, expended by her earlier yelling. The aftermath of her drinking, now feels as painful as a needle pricking her head, making her even more light-headed.
She doesn’t feel like doing anything.
She just wants to sleep.
Seeing this, Lu Nanchen says,
"Then I’ll stay with you."

When the two of them return to room 406, the smell of alcohol hits Lu Nanchen as soon as he walks through the door. There are a few people passed out at the table, while the others continue to drink.
They are all in high spirits as the business deal has been finalized.
Supported by Lu Nanchen, Yu Ting returns to her original seat. As soon as she sits down, she leans back and closes her eyes, almost falling asleep.
As all the seats had been preassigned, there were no extras. Lu Nanchen, therefore, stands beside Yu Ting, almost like a guardian. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"Who’s this?" asks the director, known for holding his liquor well, when he sees the unfamiliar face of Lu Nanchen, a flush to his cheeks being the only sign of his consumption.
"Here to watch her drinking." Lu Nanchen’s response is as usual, calm and collected.
Oh.
The director looks at the drunken Yu Ting on the verge of passing out. Having someone to watch her drinking seemed quite appropriate.
The drinking continues.
With Song Zhan and now Lu Nanchen around, Yu Ting isn’t needed for much. She quietly sits in her chair, resting her head against the back and looking up at Lu Nanchen.
Bored, she indulges in this sight for a while.
Lu Nanchen, who hasn’t left her side at all, asks: "Why are you looking at me?"
"Because you look good."
The drunken woman in front of him takes a moment before she answers, her cheeks steamed red from the room’s warmth. Her intoxicated eyes sparkle under the room’s light as she smiles genuinely.
"...Hmm."
