Chapter 10: The path I chose, I will walk it even if I have to cry and kneel.

Chapter 10: The path I chose, I will walk it even if I have to cry and kneel.

The two of them turned their heads and saw Xie Yanning getting out of the car.

Xie Yanning glanced at Chen Heting, then looked at Su Wanwan, "Should I take you home?"

Su Wan's mind was already tense enough when she went to work in the evening, and now her brain was not working very well. All she could think about was that Xie Yanning lived in the same community as her, which meant that she could go back to bed and sleep soon.

"Okay," Su Wanwan said, then said to Chen Heting, "I'll head back now."

Without waiting for a response, Xie Yanning walked to the car, glanced at Chen Heting, and opened the passenger door for Su Wanwan.

Su Wanwan felt something was wrong, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what it was.

Chen Heting looked at Xie Yanning.

The man in front of me had a great presence and was tall. His sleeves were half-rolled up, revealing the strong muscle lines on his arms.

As a fellow man, how could Chen Heting not understand what Xie Yanning meant?

He narrowed his eyes slightly; this was a man who was very attractive.

Chen Heting smiled, "And who is this?"

Su Wanwan rubbed her forehead. "We live in the same neighborhood."

Having received a reply, Chen Heting remained silent, but his gaze towards Xie Yanning now held a hint of determination.

We just live in the same neighborhood.

It wasn't that he was arrogant, but given Su Wanwan's financial resources, she probably only rented a place, and this person was driving an ordinary car worth a few hundred thousand yuan. He was most likely an outsider who rented a place nearby after graduation.

In a place where a falling rock could crush dozens of luxury cars, what good is a pretty face?

"Then be careful, and give me a call when you get back." He deliberately said something that would be misunderstood.

"Okay." Su Wanwan didn't notice the undercurrents between the two and answered subconsciously.

Chen Heting smiled with even more confidence.

Xie Yanning ignored this pointless provocation.

Once in the car, Su Wanwan fastened her seatbelt, clinging to her last breath, and said, "Wake me when we arrive."

Then he tilted his head, closed his eyes, and fell asleep.

Xie Yanning chuckled to himself.

Su Wanwan's ability to fall asleep instantly remains as strong as ever. In high school, she could often fall asleep during the ten-minute break between classes.

He was incredibly energetic after waking up, which was truly admirable.

Xie Yanning turned off the music in the car and gently pressed the accelerator to drive forward.

The autumn sun shone into the car, landing directly on Su Wanwan's face. The light ahead was red, so the car stopped.

Xie Yanning turned her head and glanced at it, then silently took another tree-lined avenue that was longer in the distance. The dense shade of the trees barely allowed any sunlight to reach her.

The residential complex was very large, and Xie Yanning didn't know where Su Wanwan lived, so he could only park his car in his underground garage first.

Su Wanwan was still asleep.

Xie Yanning raised her hand and glanced at her watch; it was only a little past five.

Looking at her face, which still had dark circles under her eyes, Xie Yanning leaned forward slightly and unbuckled her seatbelt.

In the instant they drew near, Su Wanwan's breath touched Xie Yanning's face, feeling somewhat warm.

He looked down at Su Wanwan's small face hidden in her long hair, his eyes flickered with thought, lingered for a few seconds, and then gently looked away.

It was a bit chilly in the underground parking garage, so he took off his coat and gently covered her with it.

Su Wanwan's reflection was visible through the car's windshield, and Xie Yanning stared at it intently.

In the quiet underground parking garage, he could even hear Su Wanwan's soft breathing.

She slept quite soundly.

Xie Yanning almost chuckled out loud.

Anticipating that Su Wanwan wouldn't wake up for a while, Xie Yanning pulled out a piece of paper, wrote a few words on it in a flamboyant style, "I'm upstairs," and tucked it into the front of the car.

Then I got off the bus and went upstairs.

Su Wanwan was woken up by hunger.

When she first woke up, she was even a little disoriented. She stared blankly at the unfamiliar underground parking garage, feeling a bit dazed for a moment.

She shook her head, and when she raised her hand, she found that a piece of clothing was draped over her shoulders, but it slipped down because of her movement.

She grabbed her coat, which had almost slipped off, and saw the message in front of her.

"Am I upstairs?" she murmured.

She almost thought Xie Yanning had sold her out.

Why not wake her up?

Su Wanwan picked up her bag and got out of the car.

The garage is easy to spot, with both stairs and an elevator.

Su Wanwan chose the stairs.

As soon as I went upstairs, I was greeted by the aroma of food.

Su Wanwan looked at the furnishings in the room and fell into deep thought.

This seems very similar to the home of Professor Gu that she visited a few days ago.

Xie Yanning came out of the kitchen. "You're awake?"

Su Wanwan suddenly remembered that Professor Gu's husband seemed to have the surname Xie. She thought about their appearance carefully and realized that they did indeed look a little similar to Xie Yanning.

President Xie Yanning almost exclusively picked out the good points.

"..."

"Sorry, I overslept. I'm not usually like this," Su Wanwan said apologetically. She glanced around and asked, "Where are your parents?"

Xie Yanning looked at her with some surprise, "My parents, have you met them?"

"You've met him, haven't you?" Su Wanwan didn't know what to say.

"You live upstairs?" Xie Yanning recalled what her parents had said.

Xiao Su upstairs is a doctor.

"Yes."

"I never imagined it was you who lived upstairs." Xie Yanning's eyes deepened with a hint of determination, which faded after a moment. "Thank you for the gift you sent that day."

"Well, there's no need to thank me. You've all been very understanding," Su Wanwan said.

“They’ve gone on a business trip to the school these past few days,” Xie Yanning said. “You haven’t eaten at the hospital yet, have you? Why don’t you stay and have a simple meal?”

Just as Su Wanwan was about to refuse, Xie Yanning said, "Your portion is already cooked."

Su Wanwan's stomach growled at the same time, and she said somewhat awkwardly, "Thank you."

She was indeed hungry.

After finishing her work at the hospital, she planned to come back and order takeout to treat herself.

Since there's something readily available, we might as well accept it.

Xie Yanning brought out the food, which consisted of three dishes and a soup.

As someone from the Jiangnan region, Xie Yanning prefers milder flavors, but these dishes smell wonderful.

I don't know if she was really hungry, but it tasted really good.

She had known for a long time that Xie Yanning was a good cook, but she never imagined that after so many years, the academic genius's cooking skills would be even better.

Xie Yanning was very grateful to Su Wanwan for coming, but when she saw that Su Wanwan had almost finished all the food, she couldn't help but stop her: "Don't eat too much."

He made a portion for three people.

“No,” Su Wanwan put down her bowl, sighed and said, “You don’t understand. I only had time to eat a piece of bread and a bottle of yogurt at noon. If I got hungry again, I would eat two pieces of chocolate.”

She said with some bitterness, "It's already a miracle that I didn't faint from hunger."

"..." Xie Yanning frowned slightly, seemingly disapproving. "I know you doctors are busy, but you need to eat well to stay healthy and continue saving lives."

"I had no choice in the matter." Su Wanwan didn't want to say more. She had chosen this path herself, and she would walk it no matter what. "By the way, did you manage to retrieve the data from your phone?"

"almost."

Almost there, but still a little short.

“I have a friend who studies computer science, do you need any help?” Su Wanwan said, then realized that the person in front of her was a computer genius. “Oh, you probably don’t need any.”
