Chapter 9 What kind of inappropriate words are these?
Su Wanwan didn't like hearing this. She was living comfortably, so why should she move out?
"Why should I move?" She frowned slightly.
The neighborhood is so big, they might not see each other even once every six months, it can't be that bad. Even if Zhang Yunqing minds, that's their business, she's not moving because of the two of them.
They'll move if they want to!
"If you don't like it, you can move it yourself."
Xie Yanning ignored her retort and gave a self-deprecating laugh, "He lives here? His company is quite far from here."
"Whose company is this?" Su Wanwan asked, somewhat puzzled. "I don't work at the company; I work at a nearby hospital."
"Does this mean you and Shao Chenghua will live apart after the marriage?" Xie Yanning asked with a somewhat condescending air, taking advantage of her height.
Upon hearing the words "separated from Shao Chenghua," Su Wanwan turned to Xie Yanning in shock. "What outrageous things are you saying? What do you mean I'm separated from him? It's not like I'm marrying Shao Chenghua! You've misunderstood something!"
A barrage of questions caused Xie Yanning's expression to momentarily show confusion: "Isn't it you who's getting married?"
"Of course not!" Su Wanwan said firmly, "Professor Xie, why do you have such a misconception?" Then, thinking of their unusual behavior today, she added, "So you and your friend thought I went on a blind date and got married right after?"
Su Wanwan was shocked to the point of disbelief, then laughed in exasperation, "Are all top students' brains this—unique?" Her upbringing did not allow her to swear.
"Then today—"
Su Wanwan interrupted him, "She was my friend at the time, and also his fiancée. Yang Lewei was there too; she just happened to leave."
"Can't your thoughts be a little purer? A little more noble?"
When questioned by Su Wanwan, Xie Yanning felt all the pent-up frustration in his heart vanish, and he unconsciously smiled, saying sincerely, "I'm sorry."
Su Wanwan wasn't one to hold a grudge, and seeing that the person had already gone this far, she let it go. "Next time, especially with rumors like this, I hope Professor Xie can think twice before speaking." It was a fatal blow!
Xie Yanning and Shao Chenghua were acquaintances. If the misunderstanding wasn't cleared up, and it got out one day, would she kill Xie Yanning or kill her?
"I'm sorry, I misunderstood." Xie Yanning readily agreed. "To express my apology, let me treat you to dinner."
Although the misunderstanding was quite big, it didn't cause any real harm in the end. Su Wanwan declined, saying, "There's no need to be so polite, after all, I caused you to lose your phone."
Xie Yanning asked, "Miss Su, are you worried that your blind date might misunderstand? It's just a simple meal."
"My blind date?" Su Wanwan didn't remember for a moment, then frowned slightly when she realized what he meant. "One thing at a time, don't mention it. I can forgive your rude rumors just now."
Su Wanwan felt a headache coming on just thinking about it.
Chen Heting was completely unwilling to give up. He had already made an appointment with Su Wanwan three times, but Su Wanwan had always brushed him off with the excuse of being busy. Of course, she was indeed busy, and coincidentally, each of those three times, her department had received a critically ill patient.
Normal adults would understand this, and it's best to pretend that they've never met before.
But Chen Heting insisted on treating her to that meal, and Su Wanwan even thought he should just pay half the bill for her.
"You don't like him?" Xie Yanning asked.
"Professor Xie, we're not that close, are we?"
"I'm sorry, I overstepped my bounds." Xie Yanning didn't seem to mind at all; in fact, she was in a good mood.
There was a mobile phone store just ahead, still open even though it was the middle of the night. Su Wanwan gestured for them to come in, "Come on, pick one."
The two entered, and the waiter, who was a little sleepy, looked up and said habitually, "Welcome."
Then, upon seeing the two of them, a slight look of amazement unconsciously crossed his eyes.
She's seen plenty of handsome men and beautiful women, but most of the ones she's seen together are from television.
Su Wanwan said "Hello", then turned to Xie Yanning and asked, "You tell me yourself, I don't know your model number."
The waiter wore a polite smile, thinking to himself: "This looks like a beautiful young lady is paying for it." Then he couldn't help but feel a little regretful. "Such a handsome guy, how can he be so stingy? He even needs his girlfriend to buy him a phone."
Spending money on a man is absolutely unacceptable; you'll be struck by lightning.
The waiter was very polite; despite his inner complaints, he still had a bright smile on his face.
Xie Yanning didn't refuse and picked out a phone of the same model from inside. Su Wanwan glanced at it and found that it was exactly the same as the one she was using now.
Su Wanwan paid the money promptly.
As for the card, there was nothing she could do.
"You should be able to retrieve those documents, right?" Su Wanwan asked, her sense of guilt rising again.
I don't know if there are any backups, such as couple photos.
Xie Yanning glanced at her, "Some of them may never be found."
Xie Yanning sounded a little dejected as she said this, and Su Wanwan felt even more embarrassed. "How about we try to salvage it? Even if it's unusable, we should be able to retrieve the data."
She didn't really like Zhang Yunqing, but what if Zhang Yunqing saw that her boyfriend's phone no longer had those precious photos or chat logs, and they started arguing?
She has absolutely no interest in ruining other people's marriages.
"I'll think of a way."
Su Wanwan felt she deserved to die.
"Then—" Just as she was about to speak, Su Wanwan's phone rang. The ringtone sounded familiar to her, but it also frightened her. Hearing it outside of work hours meant that her time was about to be wasted again.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
After hearing what was said on the other end, Su Wanwan's expression turned serious. "Okay, I'll go back now."
Su Wanwan hung up the phone and said briefly, "I have to go back to the hospital. If you're planning to take advantage of that, give me the bill later."
"I'm leaving now."
The hospital isn't far away; there are shared bikes right next door, and it only takes a few minutes to get there by bike.
Before Xie Yanning could reply, Su Wanwan grabbed a car and sped off to the hospital.
Xie Yanning was left standing there alone. He looked at his phone and smiled slightly. "At least leave your phone number, otherwise how are we going to pay the bill?"
Tonight was unlucky; three emergency patients came in for emergency surgery.
Su Wanwan returned to the hospital, changed into her surgical gown, and went to the operating table.
She was glad that she had eaten quite a lot.
After the surgery, it was already past midnight. Su Wanwan finally breathed a sigh of relief, but before she could catch her breath, two patients in the ward suddenly had complications in the middle of the night.
Nan Sisi, who was also called back at the last minute, looked like she was about to cry. "Which powerful figure did I offend today?"
Nurse Jiang Lin also looked distressed. She recalled that another nurse's suitor had sent a fruit basket to the hospital earlier that day, which happened to contain mangoes. She couldn't help but feel sad, "It's all because of those mangoes!"
Nan Sisi exclaimed incredulously, "Is sending mangoes an attempt to woo someone or to kill them?!"
"Maybe it's because I don't like it enough," Su Wanwan said.
If you're going to pursue a nurse, you should at least learn about the occupational taboos first.
After venting their frustrations, the group resignedly went back into the operating room.
Su Wanwan works the day shift. After finishing her work last night, she still had to continue working during the day. When she got off work, she felt like she was living purely on a breath of immortality.
She hasn't slept for 36 hours.
I saw Chen Heting as soon as I stepped out of the hospital.
He was dressed in a suit and tie, and looked just like her, a typical office worker who had just gotten off work.
While others might have only worked for 8 hours, she worked for almost 20 hours straight, and Su Wanwan really didn't want to deal with him.
She was so tired, not because she was worried about affecting the city's appearance, but because she wanted to lie down on the ground and sleep.
Chen Yanlai went on a business trip to the next city this week. That's probably why Chen Heting's information wasn't very accurate, and he didn't know that the person in front of him was already suffering terribly from work.
“Miss Su,” Chen Heting approached, only then noticing the dark circles under Su Wanwan’s eyes, “You were on night shift last night?”
“Yes,” Su Wanwan forced herself to stay awake, “I’m a little tired today, I’ll go back first.”
Because of his family background, Chen Heting was naturally not so oblivious. "Then—" He was about to express his ingratiation when a pleasant voice interrupted him, "Su Wanwan."
