Chapter 153 Guilt
"Go back and sing only for me, okay?" Xie Yanning coaxed.
"You're so stingy," Su Wanwan said.
Others: Xie Yanning can be quite a decent person sometimes.
"Yes, that's right, I'm very stingy."
"Oh well."
The two reached a consensus happily.
Others: Thanks, but I'm not really interested in being part of your play.
Su Wanwan chuckled to herself.
Doesn't she have any self-awareness? Her singing is probably deadly; only Xie Yanning can remain so unfazed.
They were making a ruckus until midnight.
The apartment wasn't far from here, and since they had been drinking, they couldn't drive, so they had the driver take them home.
Xie Yanning drank alcohol tonight. Although he wasn't extremely drunk, his consciousness was already somewhat blurred.
But he was standing so straight that you couldn't tell he was drunk unless you looked closely.
Once inside, Xie Yanning said to Su Wanwan, "Come here, I'll give you a bath."
"I can do it myself."
"no."
Su Wanwan didn't want to haggle with a drunkard.
After they finished washing, Xie Yanning held her in his arms, gently sniffed her neck, and kissed the tiny scar on her wound. His mood suddenly turned somber. "Does it hurt?"
If Xie Yanning hadn't mentioned it, Su Wanwan would have almost forgotten about it.
The incident was certainly impactful, but keeping negative emotions inside for too long isn't good for health recovery, and Su Wanwan even sought help from a psychologist.
Sure enough, the high price was worth it.
Anyway, I have almost no psychological trauma.
However, Xie Yanning's psychological trauma was clearly greater than hers; she had thought he had already forgotten as well.
"It doesn't hurt anymore," Su Wanwan coaxed him. "It really doesn't hurt anymore."
Xie Yanning didn't speak, but continued to kiss that spot lightly, and Su Wanwan even felt a little dampness.
The position changed so that Su Wanwan was hugging him, and he was burying his face in Su Wanwan's chest.
Su Wanwan gently patted him, coaxing him to sleep.
But I couldn't coax him.
He pulled the man back into his arms, his voice cold and devoid of emotion: "I should have killed him back then."
At night, Su Wanwan couldn't quite see Xie Yanning's expression.
She had never heard Xie Yanning speak in such a cold tone before.
He seemed genuinely regretting not killing that person.
Su Jiwan later watched some of the video from that time.
Xie Yanning's beatings were swift, precise, and ruthless, especially when he slammed the assailant's head against the wall with tremendous force. Su Wanwan didn't capture Xie Yanning's expression on camera at the time, but she imagined it would be something like this: unusually cold and indifferent.
Fortunately, it wasn't photographed, otherwise Xie Yanning might have lost her professorship.
After all, someone who is violent is not suitable to be a teacher.
In theory, Su Wanwan also felt she deserved to die. In reality, however, Su Wanwan couldn't bring herself to do it.
Her hands were meant to save lives, not to kill.
Su Wanwan hugged him tightly, "I'm fine now, and he'll be punished by law sooner or later."
He's almost certainly going to be sentenced to death; it's just a matter of whether he dies sooner or later.
“But he hurt you.” Xie Yanning gently touched the wound. “He hurt you in front of me, just a little bit short.”
"I will always be here." Su Wanwan rolled over and pinned him down, cupping his face in her hands. "I will never leave you, I will always be by your side."
"It's my fault for not protecting you."
Su Wanwan really didn't know how to relieve Xie Yanning's feelings of guilt.
She never imagined that Xie Yanning was caught in such a vortex.
"It's my fault for not protecting you well," Xie Yanning repeated.
Su Wanwan had no choice but to kiss him.
The kiss was very gentle.
Even if Xie Yanning wasn't drunk, he still couldn't resist, let alone now that he's drunk.
He only knew he didn't want to let this person go, so he quickly took the initiative and stepped forward.
While panting, Xie Yanning released her and then gently kissed her eyes, "Wanwan, I love you."
"I love you too."
Su Wanwan was looking forward to seeing what Xie Yanning would do, but instead, he suddenly leaned on her shoulder.
"..."
He was indeed drunk.
Unable to push her away, Su Wanwan had no choice but to try to find a more comfortable position herself.
But those who die from drunkenness are too heavy.
Su Wanwan chose to give up.
Anyway, it won't crush them.
Fortunately, people tend to change position when they fall asleep, and Xie Yanning finally moved to the other side.
Su Wanwan breathed a sigh of relief.
I only felt at ease enough to go to sleep after checking that he was alright.
After a night, Su Wanwan had already huddled on the other side of the bed.
When Xie Yanning woke up, she had a headache and found that her arms were empty, causing her heart to skip a beat.
He turned his head and saw that Su Wanwan had her back to him, and his heart finally settled down.
The bed was large, so Xie Yanning moved over and then pulled the person back into her arms.
This movement woke Su Wanwan up.
I went to bed late last night and am still a bit groggy. I asked him in a daze, "What time is it?"
"It's still early, let's sleep a little longer," Xie Yanning said.
"Then don't call me, I'm exhausted."
That short sentence contains a lot of information.
Xie Yanning thought he had done something wrong. He secretly checked and found no obvious traces before he breathed a sigh of relief.
It seems that even if something happened last night, it wasn't too excessive.
He got up to take care of his personal needs, then lay back down on the bed and cuddled with the person as they slept.
As the sun was rising, he casually picked up the remote and drew the curtains.
The room returned to darkness.
After lying down, Xie Yanning began to recall the events of last night.
Gradually, some memories began to come back to me.
He thought about what he had said.
Xie Yanning stroked Su Wanwan's back with a mixture of daring and reluctance, hoping not to frighten her.
Su Wanwan slept for quite a long time during her second nap.
When she woke up, unsurprisingly, she was all alone again.
Today is Monday, and employees need to come to work.
Boss Xie just arrived, and I don't even know if I should go and give him a pep talk.
Su Wanwan casually threw on some clothes and went out, and as expected, she didn't see Xie Yanning.
"Xie Yanning?" Su Wanwan called out without much hope.
Hmm, no one responded.
She walked to the dining table, where a warm breakfast was already laid out, with a small note next to it: I'm going to the company, I'll be back soon.
After Su Wanwan finished washing up and having breakfast, the sunlight was even brighter.
Large swaths of sunlight streamed from the balcony into the living room.
Su Wanwan walked onto the balcony, where everything below was white.
It seems that it snowed last night.
As soon as you open the window, a cold wind blows in.
New York winters are actually quite cold.
Su Wanwan's desire to stroll around downstairs vanished.
She is afraid of the cold.
I wasn't very afraid before, but now, probably because of the injury, I'm a bit sensitive to cold.
There's nothing we can do; it has damaged the very foundation.
Of course, Su Wanwan didn't tell Xie Yanning any of this.
Otherwise, who knows what that person is thinking?
Su Wanwan made herself a cup of coffee and leisurely sprawled on the sofa.
Just then, the message came in.
It belongs to Xie Yanning.
The evening gown for tonight is ready in the dressing room; please go and take a look.
Su Wanwan was surprised that Xie Yanning had even thought of this.
She had originally planned to pick one out when Xie Yanning came back in the afternoon; as long as you have money, there's nothing you can't do.
No matter what, she's the future boss's wife, how can she lose?
