Chapter 222 Love at First Sight

Wu Yiming was unaware that she was being targeted; she was still worrying about getting married.

Madam Liu inquired about Wu Yiming, but she couldn't find out much. His family background and identity were kept secret, which surprised Madam Liu and made her feel that Wu Yiming's identity was mysterious.

Madam Liu felt that she did not want her son to marry such a mysterious girl, but her son's heart was already with Wu Yiming. Madam Liu was, after all, a mother who loved her son, and finally decided to compromise.

Having no other choice, Madam Liu went to the same matchmaker who had arranged the marriage for Wu Yiming, ostensibly to find a spouse for her son, but actually to try and find out something from the matchmaker.

After failing to find out the truth, Madam Liu explained the situation to the matchmaker, saying she wanted to arrange a marriage with someone from next door and asked the matchmaker to put in extra effort.

The matchmaker was delighted. Wu Yiming was generous with the money, but his requirements, while not high, were somewhat unconventional. She had inquired about the Liu family before coming here and found them to be a respectable and good family.

Such a family would be a good match for Miss Wu.

Madam Liu wasn't stupid; she didn't directly have a matchmaker propose marriage.

"I've heard that Miss Wu's family has many elders?" Arranging a marriage always requires the involvement of elders.

The matchmaker didn't actually know much about Wu Yiming, so she said, "Since Madam Liu has asked, I will inquire for you and give you a definite answer."

The matchmaker left the Liu family happily with a considerable sum of money.

After leaving the Liu family, she went to Wu Yiming's place. The matchmaker had a smile on her face, and Wu Yiming looked very charming. She said, "Is there good news?"

The matchmaker beamed and said, "Miss Wu guessed right, there is news."

Wu Yiming became interested: "Which company is it?"

Matchmaker: "Let me ask you something, Miss Wu. Do you know the young master of the Liu family next door?"

Wu Yiming was completely bewildered; she really didn't know who her new neighbor was.

"How so?"

The matchmaker probably doesn't know much about Wu Yiming.

The matchmaker then said, "I've brought news with me today. The eldest son of the Liu family next door has taken a liking to Miss Wu. Madam Liu has been asking me about Miss Wu. Considering your requirements, Miss, the Liu family is indeed a good place to go."

Wu Yiming asked, "What is the name of the eldest young master of the Liu family next door?"

The matchmaker naturally knew this.

"His surname is Liu, and his given name is Jiang Qing. He is observing mourning for his elders, which is why his marriage has been delayed. He also has some talent in his studies. He is currently twenty-five years old and has the title of Xiucai (a successful candidate in the county-level imperial examination). If he hadn't been observing mourning, he would probably have easily achieved the title of Juren (a successful candidate in the provincial-level imperial examination)..."

The matchmaker kept praising Liu Jiangqing, and Wu Yiming finally understood what the young master was referring to. She did have some impression of Liu Jiangqing.

However, she really didn't expect Liu Jiangqing to ask to marry her. They had only met a few times. Wu Yiming felt a little strange. Were people in ancient times so casual?

Wu Yiming knew that it was Liu Jiangqing who was proposing marriage, so he wouldn't listen to what the matchmaker was saying. Wu Yiming dismissed the matchmaker and then summoned someone to arrange a meeting with Liu Jiangqing outside the next day.

Overall, Liu Jiangqing's conditions are acceptable. As for whether he is suitable to be a husband, Wu Yiming is unsure. She needs to know what Liu Jiangqing is thinking, and also whether Liu Jiangqing's family is easy to get along with.

She didn't get married to be a good wife and mother.

When Liu Jiangqing received Wu Yiming's letter, he was quite uneasy. He knew that his mother had called a matchmaker to the house without telling him.

Now that Wu Yiming wants to see him, he knows that Wu Yiming probably knows what he's thinking.

Young Mu Ai, though not a boy in age, was still a boy at heart. He was twenty-five and had never been with a woman, making him more of a boy than a boy.

Wu Yiming and Liu Jiangqing had arranged to meet at the same restaurant where they had met before. When Liu Jiangqing arrived at the restaurant, he was filled with emotion.

Upon entering the private room, Wu Yiming was already seated. Today, Wu Yiming was dressed as a beautiful woman, no longer appearing in men's clothing.

Liu Jiangqing's eyes welled up with tears. Wu Yiming was beautiful. Perhaps she couldn't compare to the noble ladies carefully selected in the palace, but she could still be described as having a beautiful appearance.

Now that she's dressed in women's clothing, Liu Jiangqing's heart naturally warmed. After all, she's a woman he likes, and seeing her like this would inevitably evoke some feelings.

Standing at the door of the private room, Liu Jiangqing felt somewhat embarrassed to go in.

Wu Yiming spoke up, "Brother Liu, why don't you come in?"

Liu Jiangqing then stepped inside.

Wu Yiming was quite direct; after only a few words, he brought the matter to the surface, saying, "I heard you want to marry me."

Liu Jiangqing was a virgin and rarely encountered women, so he had never heard such a bold question before. However, considering Wu Yiming's style of disguising herself as a man, he understood.

"Yes, I want to marry you."

Wu Yiming was puzzled: "Why?"

Isn't it said that scholars dislike women showing their faces in public the most? Why would you marry her?

Seeing that Wu Yiming was a particularly straightforward girl, Liu Jiangqing knew that it would be useless to be subtle with her, so she got straight to the point.

"Ever since I learned that you were a girl, I have been thinking about you day and night. Because I did not know your identity, I did not dare to disturb you. On the day I moved, I saw your back and felt that it was fate. I also happened to see a matchmaker visiting your residence. I did not want to regret it, so I told my mother about my marriage proposal."

Wu Yiming understood; she had been fallen in love with someone at first sight?

It feels a bit unbelievable. Isn't it said that all love at first sight is lust at first sight? Could it be that her appearance is really so good that she can make someone fall in love at first sight?

Wu Yiming's thought process was also quite unique; her first reaction was to think about her own appearance, and her perspective on the issue was truly exceptional.
