Chapter 223 Agreement

Wu Yiming's department store is about to open, and she's worried about any mishaps, so she naturally has to keep a close eye on it.

Liu Jiangqing returned home and told his parents about it that evening.

To be honest, his parents didn't really agree. After all, in the eyes of the Liu family patriarch and patriarch, their son was intelligent and would take the imperial examination in the future, so his wife had to have a respectable family background.

However, they were naturally unwilling to accept that Wu Yiming wanted to continue doing business after getting married. Their daughter-in-law was brought home to carry on the family line, take care of their son, and ensure that their son had no worries about the future.

Now that their son is getting married and will be traveling every day, how can the parents possibly agree to this?

Madam Liu said directly, "No, I don't agree."

Liu Jiangqing: "Mother..."

Master Liu also disagreed: "Calling you 'mother' won't help. I don't agree to this either. We can overlook what Miss Wu did before she got married, but it's unacceptable for her to act like this after marriage. We're not short of money, there's no need for that."

Liu Jiangqing had feelings for Wu Yiming, but he didn't know exactly how much those feelings were.

If he hadn't met Wu Yiming, he probably would have married a woman of equal social standing and lived a respectful life together. But now that he has met Wu Yiming, he knows that his heart will probably belong to her for the rest of his life.

Liu Jiangqing: "Father, Mother, is it really not possible?"

Master Liu: "No, put your mind back on it. I'll have your mother find a matchmaker to find you a gentle and virtuous wife. Don't think about this anymore. He's been a bit lax in his studies lately, and he can't let this go on. His studies are important."

Liu Jiangqing left in a daze.

To be honest, Liu Jiangqing did nothing wrong. In ancient times, parents were respected. If he had really done something outrageous for the woman he loved, that would have been disregarding morality and ethics. If that had happened, Wu Yiming's reputation would probably have been ruined.

But Madam Liu felt sorry for her son when she saw him like this. After all, he was born from her womb, and she was heartbroken.

After Liu Jiangqing left, Madam Liu said to Master Liu, "Why don't I inquire some more? If all else fails, I'll talk to that Miss Wu and ask her not to show her face in public after she gets married."

Master Liu was also heartbroken. His son had been obedient since childhood and did well in his studies. After failing the imperial examinations repeatedly, he realized that he was not destined for success. He became a teacher at the academy and is now focusing all his efforts on cultivating his son.

Their son rarely asks for anything, but now that he likes a woman, they still want to stop him. Although they know it's for his own good, they still feel sorry for him.

Mr. Liu understood that if he and his wife really disagreed, their son wouldn't cause a scene at home because of it. After all, their son was sensible, but he was just too sensible, which made the couple feel a little sorry for him.

After hearing his wife's words, Master Liu hesitated for a moment, then sighed and said, "Go back and ask that Miss Wu if we can compromise. I'm afraid our son will never be happy in this world!"

Madam Liu sighed and said, "I understand. Miss Wu lives right next door to us, so it's easy for her to talk to us."

The couple exchanged a glance. Their children were a burden; it was all for their children's sake!

At this moment, Liu Jiangqing felt a void in his heart. He had never felt this way before, as if he had lost something, and if he didn't pick it up in time, something would shatter completely.

I wouldn't say I'm heartbroken, but I can't help feeling a little sad.

Liu Jiangqing had trouble sleeping that night because he was thinking too much, and he also caught a chill during the night, which made him sick.

This startled Madam Liu, as a cold in ancient times could be fatal.

Madam Liu quickly sent someone to fetch a doctor to treat Liu Jiangqing. The doctor took his pulse and said that he had caught a cold and was overthinking. He advised him to take some medicine, think less, and relax, and he would be fine.

Seeing her son like this, Madam Liu finally understood that the best medicine now was not anything else, but the girl next door, Miss Wu.

I had originally planned to discuss it with this Miss Wu and see if we could compromise, but now it seems that's not going to work.

However, I still need to go to Miss Wu's residence in person. My son's judgment is usually good, but what if he is wrong?

She's her future daughter-in-law, after all; she has to take a look at her.

Wu Yiming was just about to inform Consort Wuya of Fucha about her marriage when Huan'er told him that Madam Liu from next door had come to visit.

Wu Yiming then met with Madam Liu. Madam Liu could tell at a glance that her son had good judgment. Wu Yiming was beautiful but not glamorous, with clear eyes and impeccable manners. If one did not know her, one would really think she was a lady from a prominent family.

Madam Liu herself was quite beautiful; otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to give birth to a good-looking son. So, she naturally didn't want her daughter-in-law to be an ugly woman. Now, it seems that Miss Wu's appearance is a good match for her son.

Since Wu Yiming was interested in Liu Jiangqing and knew that Madam Liu was Liu Jiangqing's mother, if her relationship with Liu Jiangqing could be successful, Madam Liu would be her mother-in-law no matter what.

"Greetings, Madam Liu."

Madam Liu said with a smile, "Please sit down and talk. I was being presumptuous in coming to your door today, young lady."

After exchanging pleasantries, Madam Liu, being a reasonable woman, was quite satisfied with Miss Wu's conduct and manners.

The two were on the same page, so the conversation went fairly well, and then Madam Liu brought up the more important matter.

"I've heard that Miss Wu is quite knowledgeable in mathematics and also has a passion for business?"

Wu Yiming said, "That's true. Does Madam find this inappropriate?"

After thinking for a moment, Madam Liu asked, "I wonder if you, young lady, still plan to be involved in the business after your marriage?"
