That evening, after the couple finished exercising, Zhang Tingyu took the opportunity to speak.
"The eldest prince has set the date for his trip today."
Qiu Wen murmured, "When?"
"the day after tomorrow."
Qiu Wen didn't know how she felt. She knew that this day would come no matter what, but when it actually arrived, she still felt a strange tightness and discomfort in her heart.
Qiu Wen felt like she was sinking deeper into the mire.
Unable to hold back, Qiu Wen finally cried.
Zhang Tingyu was somewhat bewildered. This was the second day Qiu Wen had cried in front of him. The first time was on their wedding night, when Qiu Wen became his woman. This time, Qiu Wen cried because she learned when he was leaving.
Zhang Tingyu had always known that Qiu Wen was a strong person at heart. Even though she appeared somewhat weak on the outside, once you got to know her, you would find that she was not weak at all.
He was initially attracted to Qiu Wen partly because of her personality. He disliked women who cried easily; they were troublesome, but more importantly, he disliked people who cried when faced with problems, and he also disliked people who wallowed in self-pity.
So when I met Qiu Wen, I learned about her background and was attracted to her, and gradually fell for her.
Zhang Tingyu clearly disliked women crying, but when Qiu Wen cried, he felt a pang of heartache. He quickly tried to comfort her, but the more he comforted her, the harder Qiu Wen cried.
By the time Qiu Wen calmed down, her eyes were already very red and swollen.
Qiu Wen didn't even know how she fell asleep until the very end. When she woke up the next day, Zhang Tingyu was still in bed, but he was already awake.
"What time is it?"
By now, clocks were common in high society. Zhang Tingyu, who had been keeping track of the time, said, "It's ten o'clock."
Qiu Wen was startled. Zhang Tingyu usually had to work, so he got up early, usually around five o'clock.
"You didn't go to work today." Qiu Wen regretted asking the question as soon as she did; wasn't she just asking a pointless question?
Zhang Tingyu said, "I'm taking the day off."
Qiu Wen knew she must be busy these days: "Can you keep an eye on things without me?"
Zhang Tingyu said, "It's alright, we can still get things running smoothly even if we're gone for a day."
Zhang Tingyu likes to plan ahead, so it doesn't matter if he's not present today; things will still run smoothly.
