Chapter 114 The Murderer

In Yanxi Palace

Consort Hui glanced at Mingxiu but didn't say anything. She had someone send the things Mingxiu had brought to Yinti, but Mingxiu herself didn't go.

After all, it's best to avoid talking about things like this to some extent.

"Sister Huipin, are you alright?" Mingxiu asked with some concern, noticing the dark circles under Huiping's eyes.

Consort Hui shook her head, her expression still not very good. It was her only son who had done this, and the whole palace knew about it. No one would be happy about that.

"Don't worry, the imperial physician said that my brother is fine. He'll recover after some rest. The Emperor will definitely find out who framed him. Don't worry, sister," Mingxiu comforted Huipin, patting her hand.

She only had Consort Hui as a good friend in the palace, so naturally she had to take extra care of her.

After exchanging a few brief words of concern, Mingxiu left first. Presumably, Consort Hui should be using her family's influence to investigate by now, so it's best not to delay her any longer.

Although she had nothing to do with this matter, she was still a beneficiary. There were only four princes in the palace, and she was closest to the Crown Prince, followed by the Third Prince and the Fourth Prince. So if the First Prince got into trouble, the three of them would benefit the most.

But honestly, Mingxiu couldn't believe that anyone would use such a method to treat a child under 10 years old. What were they thinking?

In Yanxi Palace, Consort Hui watched Mingxiu's departing figure with an unreadable expression. It was true that the princes in the palace had benefited the most from the First Prince's health problems, but it was precisely because of this that Consort Hui did not quite believe that they were responsible.

Doing so would only increase suspicion because the target would be too obvious, so I believe no one would do that.

Not to mention Mingxiu. She had the most contact with Mingxiu during this period and trusted her judgment of people. Mingxiu was not that kind of person.

However, the matter still needed to be thoroughly investigated. With that thought in mind, Consort Hui instructed the people behind her to prepare to contact her family.

Consort Rong and the Imperial Noble Consort also looked rather grim. They were both highly suspicious of what had happened in the palace, and now they just wanted to find out who was responsible.

In the Qianqing Palace

Kangxi stared at the things in front of him with a dark expression, then slammed his hand on the table and stood up abruptly.

The servants below immediately knelt down.

"Damn it, is this what you've been investigating for so long? After all this time, you still haven't found out who it is?"

"Your Majesty, please calm down. I have indeed not been able to find out who it is, but rest assured, Your Majesty, I have a lead and will not let anyone escape."

Nalan Rongruo knelt down and said with a very ugly expression. He had always had different views from his father. His father had always supported the eldest prince, while he had always felt that following the emperor was enough.

However, he stood on the same side as the Emperor and his father in this matter, determined to find out exactly who did it.

The culprit for this incident in the palace has not yet been identified, and everyone is feeling uneasy. People are reluctant to go out lately, especially since it's getting cold and there are hardly any people outside.

Just as it was time to pay respects, Mingxiu, unusually, wasn't woken up this morning and sat up early on her own, looking at Lüzhu, who was serving her, with a surprised expression.

When did my lady become so self-disciplined? Usually, I have to be urged by her a thousand times to get up.

If Mingxiu knew what she was thinking, she would definitely scoff. She used to be unable to get up in the morning because she stayed up late watching TV, but lately she hasn't been in the mood to watch TV at night, so naturally she's been waking up earlier.

Inside Chengqian Palace.

The Imperial Noble Consort looked at the concubines sitting below and said, "Some things have happened in the palace recently. I know you are all a little flustered, but don't worry, His Majesty and I are here for you."

"Everyone just needs to live well in the harem and serve the Emperor well. The rest is up to me and the Emperor."

"Security in the palace has been tightened recently, so everyone can rest assured. However, I don't want to hear about anything that might cause trouble, you know?"

After saying this, the Imperial Noble Consort glanced at everyone, then turned her gaze to Consort Hui: "How is the First Prince now?"

Consort Hui rose and replied, "Your Majesty, the First Prince has almost fully recovered, but he still needs to rest for a while longer."

The Imperial Noble Consort nodded, instructing her to take good care of her elder brother in the palace.

After calming everyone down, she dismissed them, as she still needed to report back to the Empress Dowager.

Qianqing Palace

Kangxi looked helplessly at Yinreng, who was standing in front of him and resisting, and said with some resignation, "Your elder brother is fine now. You can go see him after a while, but don't go now. Wait until your elder brother has rested for a while longer before you go."

Yinreng was unwilling but insisted on going. Kangxi was somewhat helpless, but looking at Yinreng's expression, he didn't know what to say.

Finally, as if he had thought of something, he asked Yinreng with a strange expression, "Baocheng, do you know what's wrong with your elder brother?"

Tilting his head strangely, Yinreng replied, "Of course I know. Someone drugged my elder brother. This drug is very harmful to his body. Don't worry, Father, I understand."

"Furthermore, I will not be exposed to women too early."

Kangxi's face twisted in disbelief. Who on earth had told him this? "Who told you these things?"

Yinreng blinked: "Isn't this something I should have known all along? Don't worry, Father Emperor. I've only read some miscellaneous books and know that premature contact with girls turns one into a mushroom. I don't want to become a mushroom, so I definitely won't do that."

Six-year-olds are always innocent; no one else would describe them that way.

Emperor Kangxi looked somewhat distraught, clutching his head and unsure what to say. Finally, he could only helplessly say, "I should have taken all your books away. What kind of nonsense are you reading every day?"

In the end, Yinreng was not allowed to visit the eldest prince.

Two days later, the matter was finally uncovered, and Nalan Xingde knelt down, looking exhausted.

After Kangxi waved for the person to leave, he gently tapped the table. A figure jumped down from the table, bowed respectfully to Kangxi, and handed over what he was carrying.

Looking at the two similar reports in his hand, Kangxi, with a sullen face, took Liang Jiugong directly to Kunning Palace.

Kunning Palace

The Empress Dowager's face was also grim. She had expected these things to be related to the inner palace, but she hadn't expected it to be the Imperial Concubine.

After exchanging a glance with Su Ma La Gu, she turned to the Emperor and said, "Your Majesty, rest assured, leave this matter to me. You need not interfere in the aftermath. I will give you justice."

Emperor Kangxi nodded.

After Kangxi left, the Empress Dowager's face darkened. Who exactly did this with her? I don't believe she could have done it alone. The Empress Dowager seemed to be talking to herself, or perhaps to Sumalagu.

Sumalagu stood quietly to the side without saying a word.

After a long while, the Empress Dowager stood up and said to Sumaragu.

"Let's go, we should go and meet her."
