Chapter 115 Consort Yijing

After they finished speaking, the two walked directly to a small courtyard at the back, where it was unusually quiet.

Sumalagu stepped forward and knocked on the courtyard gate, but no one answered. After a while, she simply waved her hand and opened the gate.

After pushing open the door, Su Ma La Gu stepped back and waited for the Empress Dowager to walk forward. The two walked into the palace and looked up to see no one. Only when they walked to the back did they see a woman dressed in gorgeous clothes sitting there quietly, watching the two of them.

"You may all step back now," the Empress Dowager said as she entered, supported by Sumalagu.

"Oh, who is this? Isn't this the current Empress Dowager? I thought I'd never see you again in this lifetime," said Consort Yijing, leaning back in her chair and looking up at the Empress Dowager.

The Empress Dowager remained silent for a moment before stepping forward and sitting opposite her. "Why did you do this? Did you think my Emperor wouldn't do anything to you?"

“Heh,” Consort Yijing shook her head and said with a smile, “Since I dared to do it, I never thought about what would happen to me.”

The Empress Dowager's face darkened. "Then you don't care about your descendants either?"

Consort Yijing looked at the Empress Dowager and said, "If you dare not do anything to them, I believe you will not do anything to them either."

The Empress Dowager's face darkened, because she knew this was the truth. There were still four tribes in Mongolia, and she couldn't easily take action against them.

"Then you shall pay the price you deserve. I will not lift a finger, lest I dirty my hands." The Empress Dowager said with a dark face, then walked out of the room with a livid expression.

The servants behind closed the door.

Consort Yijing looked at the tightly closed door and sneered. It was a pity she hadn't succeeded, but she hadn't lost out, after all, she had caused the deaths of so many children.

He picked up the cup on the table and drank it down in one gulp. Soon after, blood appeared at the corner of his mouth, and he collapsed with his eyes closed.

Upon returning to Cining Palace, Sumalagu quickly poured a cup of tea and handed it to the Empress Dowager.

The Empress Dowager took a sip, but was still not satisfied. She slammed the teacup down on the table, furious.

Sumalagu sighed, "Princess, there's no need to be angry. I never expected things to turn out this way."

The Empress Dowager closed her eyes briefly: "I know. Go and tell the Emperor the result. Go."

“Yes,” Sumalagu said and then left.

Soon after, news spread throughout the palace that Consort Yijing had passed away.

When Kangxi heard the news, he clutched the memorial tightly in his hand, thinking how lucky she had gotten out of it.

But that's all we can do now; we can't pursue this any further.

After Sumalagu withdrew, Kangxi pondered for a moment and then asked Liang Jiugong to say a few words before Liang Jiugong withdrew as well.

Yanxi Palace.

Consort Hui looked at the rewards sent by the Emperor, her mind filled with Liang Jiugong's words. She remembered that news had just come from the palace that Consort Yijing had died, and then the Emperor's rewards arrived.

My heart was in turmoil. I never imagined that this matter was related to Consort Yijing. But the Emperor's meaning was also very clear: this matter could not be pursued any further.

Consort Hui clenched the handkerchief in her hand; her child had almost been ruined, all because of her.

Yonghe Palace

Mingxiu also heard the news and couldn't understand how she could have done it.

Mingxiu had never met this Consort Yijing, but she knew of her. She didn't remember who Namuzhong had married before, but she did marry Huang Taiji later. In her memory, Namuzhong was not a good person, but why would she harm the emperor's child?

What good does this do her?

Mingxiu was completely baffled, and every time this happened, she regretted not having studied the history books properly.

My impressions are still fragmented and can't be pieced together.

However, it's still somewhat plausible that it's related to the Empress Dowager, who was quite hated in Huang Taiji's harem at the time.

Tsk tsk tsk, as expected, hate lasts longer than love. Mingxiu shook her head.

As time passed, Yinti's health recovered considerably.

Mingxiu smiled as she watched the two children eating in front of her.

"Baoqing, eat this. This was specially made for you. Eat more, you've lost weight," Mingxiu said, placing a piece of meat on Yinti's plate.

Yinti nodded, unable to speak, his mouth full of food.

He's been staying with his mother lately, and although the food is quite refined, it's just too bland. His mouth is so bland that he can barely taste anything.

Finally, his mother relented and allowed him and his younger brother Baocheng to come out. He hadn't even had a chance to come to Yonghe Palace for a meal yet, because the food there was just too delicious.

Yinti ate with tears in his eyes, determined to get his revenge today.

Mingxiu watched Yinti eat with a sense of helplessness. Was Consort Hui going a bit too far? How vegetarian must the food be to force a child who usually pays great attention to rules to this extent?

He sighed, turned around and looked at another person eating in almost the exact same way, feeling even more helpless.

Not long after the incident involving Yinti, classes in the Imperial Study resumed as normal.

Yinreng has been attending classes and hasn't had time to come to Yonghe Palace.

Mingxiu felt that the child hadn't come for too long, so she asked him to come over after school so they could have dinner together. As a result, he brought Yinti with him, and the two of them ate like two starving ghosts, as if they didn't eat at all.

Mingxiu couldn't take it anymore and said to Yinreng, "People like Baoqing eat too bland food on a regular basis, why are you like that?"

Yinreng swallowed the food in his mouth with difficulty, choking a little. He picked up the teacup beside him, took a sip of water to clear his throat, and then began to speak.
