Chapter 157 Playing the Scoundrel

Thinking of this, Mingxiu became even more excited. Yinreng and Kangxi were playing Go in the main hall when they were suddenly attracted by a domineering fragrance coming from outside.

cluck cluck~

Touching his somewhat uncooperative belly, Yinreng swallowed hard. "Father, I'm hungry. Shall we go see what Consort Ming is making? It smells so good!" Yinreng looked at Kangxi expectantly.

Kangxi also secretly swallowed, looking at Yinreng's excited expression with a hint of disgust. He seemed to be unable to move away from the smell, but his body language betrayed him, and he nodded. The two walked towards the kitchen, and he also wanted to know what Mingxiu was making. It smelled so good.

Mingxiu was peacefully cooking when the aroma made Mini Xu's mouth water.

The people helping Mingxiu in the kitchen were also looking expectantly at what was in her pot.

Mingxiu looked up and saw the two people standing at the kitchen door. She chuckled and said, "What are you two doing standing here? The kitchen is a bit smoky. Go back inside, it'll be ready soon."

Yinreng asked curiously, "What is Consort Ming making? It smells so good!"

Mingxiu smiled and said, "You'll find out soon. Go back now, it'll be ready in a bit."

Mingxiu chased the two away, put the prepared scallion rolls into the iron pot, covered it, and cooked them for a while.

This is a main dish; once it's made, there's no need to make any other dishes. But after thinking about it, Mingxiu decided to prepare two more cold dishes: one is tomato salad with sugar, and the other is smashed cucumber, both of which are very homey.

Once it was done, the stew in the iron pot was finished. When Mingxiu lifted the lid, a rich aroma of meat mixed with the fragrance of carbohydrates wafted out, making Mingxiu take a step back involuntarily. The smell was just too good.

It's not fashionable to bring your own pot to the table to eat these days, so Mingxiu didn't plan to bring it either. Besides, she made large portions, which the three of them couldn't finish. Mingxiu picked up a small soup pot next to her, poured half of the stew into it, and had someone bring it in. "You can share the rest," Mingxiu said to the others who were helping in the kitchen. "If it's not enough, there are steamed buns here. You can braise them in the broth; they taste pretty good too."

After seeing everyone nod, Mingxiu went inside happily.

Upon entering, one sees Yinreng and Kangxi sitting in chairs, looking on with eager anticipation.

Mingxiu sometimes chuckled, realizing that no one could resist the aroma of stew cooked in a large pot.

"Mother Consort Ming, come quickly, come quickly, you're sitting so comfortably!" Yinreng waved enthusiastically, urging Mingxiu to come over quickly.

Kangxi watched Mingxiu with a smile, and handed her a clean handkerchief to wipe her hands.

Mingxiu took the damp handkerchief from Kangxi and wiped her hands, feeling a warmth in her heart.

The stew made in an iron pot today was especially to the liking of the father and son. Although neither of them said much, you could tell from how quickly they ate the food.

Mingxiu had only eaten one steamed bun when she noticed that about a third of the dishes on the table were gone.

Watching the two eat so quickly, Mingxiu's lips twitched. However, she had been taught excellent royal etiquette since childhood, so although they ate quickly, their manners were impeccable, and there was nothing wrong with them.

I could only let them go, but I silently sped up my eating.

However, Mingxiu found the scene very pleasing to the eye, and felt satisfied seeing her carefully prepared meal treated with such affection.

After the meal, Yinreng sat on the couch, while Kangxi and Mingxiu each lay on a recliner, all three of them rubbing their bellies with satisfied expressions.

She did quite a lot, and she thought there would be some left over, but the three of them finished it all off.

After eating and drinking her fill, Mingxiu started to feel dizzy from the meal. She was lying on a recliner, trying to digest her food, when she suddenly felt sleepy.

He waved his hand, and someone brought three blankets. He covered the three people with them and they lay down to begin their afternoon nap.

The house, after the heavy rain, carried the fragrance of earth and the lotus flowers nearby. The slightly cool air blew in through the doors and windows, taking away the last bit of warmth.

The three of them were sleeping soundly inside the house.

Seeing this, Green Bamboo smiled, closed the door, and led Liang Jiugong into the room next door. Inside, Mingxiu had prepared a meal, but they hadn't started eating yet.

Mingxiu was extremely happy during her time at Changchun Garden. In the evenings, she would chat with Kangxi, play fights, and exchange feelings. During the day, she would sleep until the sun was high in the sky, eat naturally, go out for a stroll, or take Yinreng out for a stroll.

Life couldn't be more comfortable.

That day, Mingxiu continued to stroll around Changchun Garden with Luzhu. As they strolled, they suddenly arrived at a place behind Changchun Garden that was not often visited by people.

Mingxiu stared at the wild fruits on the tree with shining eyes.

Seeing her mistress's eyes light up as she looked at the fruit in front of her, Green Bamboo knew that this one must be delicious.

However, she had eaten this fruit before, and just to be on the safe side, she quietly reminded Mingxiu, "Your Highness, I've eaten this fruit before, and it's very sour. I'm afraid it won't taste very good. If Your Highness wants to eat it, we can go back to the main kitchen and get some."

Mingxiu nodded, but in her heart she didn't think so. Aren't the flowers in the palace and those outside just domestic flowers and wild flowers? She already had domestic flowers, so she could have wild flowers too.

And she can handle even the most sour things.

Thinking this way, Mingxiu had someone climb the tree and pick half a basket of wild sour apricots.

Looking at the fragrant, yellow apricots in the basket, Mingxiu swallowed hard, took one out, wiped it with a handkerchief, and took a bite. Her face contorted from the sourness, and saliva poured from her mouth.
