Before Yierjuelogen could say anything more, he threw the fish in his hand into the oil pan. Instantly, bubbles rose in the pan, and the aroma of oil mixed with starch spread from all directions. The people in the kitchen were so enticed by the smell that they didn't know what to do.
One good thing about this place is that you can eat beef, but there's not much beef available. Mingxiu was so excited that she had someone squat in front of the meat stall, and as soon as they had beef, she bought some.
She hadn't eaten beef in a long time, so this was a good opportunity for her.
Time was tight, so Mingxiu didn't use the beef to make anything else. The main reason was that she couldn't find potatoes at the market. Logically, potatoes should have been available by now, but for some reason, Mingxiu just couldn't find them.
So they had no choice but to stir-fry beef cubes with bell peppers. Mingxiu took a bite and it tasted pretty good. The sweetness of the bell peppers mixed with the aroma of the beef made it look a bit like the cooking of a foreign student.
When the last dish of crispy chicken was ready, Mingxiu noticed that the rice in the pot next to her was also cooked. Mingxiu's work was done there.
After that, others could take care of the rest. Mingxiu directed the person to serve all the food, and then she and Yierjueluo Genshi prepared to go out and call the father and son for dinner.
Count Haino came down from up there at that moment, just passing by Mingxiu and the others.
Count Haino was a nobleman here. His father was a minister who fought alongside Peter the Great. Because of his outstanding military achievements and the fact that his family had always been loyal to Peter the Great, he was highly valued by him.
Count Haino grew up surrounded by gold, silver, and jade, and being roughly the same age as Peter the Great, he frequently visited the palace and ate his fair share of its delicacies, but he had never smelled such an overpowering aroma before.
Today, his fleet returned from abroad, so he came here to hand over the duties. He had smelled a fragrance during the handover, but it was faint, so he didn't pay attention. However, now that he was outside, the scent was much stronger, and Count Haino's stomach rumbled along with the aroma.
As a gentleman, such behavior is very impolite, so Count Haino, who had not originally planned to eat here, decided to have lunch here before going back. Before the dishes were served, he was still secretly looking forward to whether the unique flavors would be delicious. However, after the dishes were served, Count Haino was disappointed because the food was the same kind of food that he often ate before, and it could give off that same aroma.
By then, Earl Haino had already eaten a little, but he had no appetite left. Smelling the aroma below, he angrily called the person in charge of the place up to ask him a question.
The manager, feeling somewhat aggrieved by Count Haino's questioning, said, "Count, this really wasn't made by our shop. It was cooked by guests from the Qing Dynasty who are staying here and we borrowed the kitchen. If it were made by our own shop, how could we not offer it to Your Excellency to try?"
The manager was also helpless, because this wasn't the first time someone had asked this question. In the short time it took to lunch, many people had asked the same question, and these were all people he couldn't afford to offend.
Count Haino was not happy to hear this, but rather pleased. He planned to send them down to ask if these people would sell. He knew that these people were here to do business, and since they were doing business, there was no reason for them not to make money.
So Earl Haino came down specifically to ask, and that's when he happened to run into Mingxiu and the others.
Count Haino looked at the figure that had just passed by. It was a young woman, not particularly special, but the smell emanating from her was unmistakable—the smell that had just made his stomach rumble.
"Hello, madam, please wait a moment." Count Haino quickly chased after her.
Upon hearing a familiar voice, Mingxiu stopped and looked at the person who had just arrived. He was dressed in exquisite attire, with a high nose and large eyes. "This is a nobleman," Mingxiu thought to herself.
"Hello, madam, I'm so sorry to bother you. It's like this, I asked the kitchen earlier if you were cooking, and I didn't know if these dishes were for sale. I'm willing to pay a high price for them." Count Haino walked over and said apologetically, his manners always impeccable.
Mingxiu looked around and realized that they were indeed talking to her. She was about to refuse, but Hainuo's words changed her mind.
"Or you could ask your master. I am Earl Haino, and I currently teach at a university here. I imagine your master would not refuse."
Earl, Professor!
Upon hearing these two keywords, Mingxiu immediately became happy. She pulled the somewhat anxious Yierjuelogenshi aside and said with a smile, "Your Excellency is too kind. This meal is for our own family and we don't plan to sell it to anyone else."
Earl Haino was surprised when he heard the woman speak fluently and then listened to her meaning. So this person was a servant? He had never seen a servant dressed so well. Then he was a little disappointed. She was only making food for her family and didn't plan to sell it to others. Wouldn't he not be able to eat it himself?
Then Mingxiu continued, "However, I've cooked quite a lot today. Why don't you join us and try some, Earl Haino? We've just arrived here and don't know much about the area yet. I wonder if you would be willing to help us out?"
Hainuo paused for a moment, then hesitated. Eating with someone he didn't know before was a challenge for him, but he really liked the taste and wondered what ingredients the food was made of.
After hesitating for a long time, he finally nodded in agreement. Count Haino had a hobby that no one knew about: he loved food, especially food that he had never seen before. No one had noticed it before because Count Haino had seen and eaten a lot of good things since he was a child, so he didn't think anything was particularly good.
