"Professor, what brings you here?" A blond boy stepped forward.
“Jacques, these two are my distinguished guests. I have a class to teach later, so could you please look after them for me and show them around the neighborhood?” Count Haino said to the boy.
Then he turned to Kangxi and Mingxiu and said, "This is Jacques, one of my students. He doesn't have any classes later, so let him show you around first."
"Hello Jacques, you can just call me Old Kang. This is my wife," Kangxi greeted them. Actually, they didn't use this surname when they disembarked because it was too unusual. But on the ship, they were called Mr. Kang. People from other fleets heard this on the way, so to avoid arousing suspicion, they simply didn't change it.
"Hello, I'm Jacques. You're all friends of the professor, so you can just call me Jacques. Come on, let me show you around," Jacques said apologetically.
After exchanging greetings, Hainuo went to class, while Mingxiu and Kangxi continued to wander around the academy with Jacques.
"This is the College of Agriculture in our academy. It grows many strange and unusual plants. Ordinary people are not allowed to come in because they don't understand them and are afraid of damaging the plants. Today, you can only come in with the professor's token. The professor just said that he asked me to show you around. If you like any of them, you can ask for them as a gift."
Mingxiu's eyes lit up, and she said with a grin, "Thank you very much."
The group strolled around inside. This botanical garden was really big, with all sorts of things inside, including various rare and exotic plants. Mingxiu recognized some of them, but not others.
Mingxiu also saw sweet potatoes and potatoes inside, but she didn't know if the sweet potatoes here were the same as the ones she took out from the space.
After wandering around for a while, Mingxiu didn't feel like she wanted anything. But since she had already come all this way, how could she not come back empty-handed? When Hainuo arrived, Mingxiu shamelessly asked for two sweet potatoes and a potato.
Although Hainuo was somewhat surprised when he heard this, he still gave the two to Mingxiu.
The group quickly came out. The environment inside was quite humid, and staying there for a long time made them feel uncomfortable, as they felt sticky all over.
"Be careful." Mingxiu had just stepped out when Kangxi pulled her into his arms.
Not knowing what had happened, after a while, when Kangxi let go of Mingxiu's hand, he saw something in front of him that had appeared out of nowhere.
Mingxiu glanced curiously at the down shuttle that looked like it was made of twigs. It did look somewhat similar to a badminton shuttlecock from later generations. Mingxiu touched her head in lingering fear. If Kangxi hadn't been quick-witted and nimble-fisted, she probably would have had her head cracked open by now.
A chubby boy ran over from a short distance away and, seeing that there were people around, quickly apologized: "I'm so sorry, I'm really sorry, we lost control of the ball for a moment."
Kangxi shook his head; he had overreacted, so he simply raised his foot to block it.
After the boy apologized, he quickly left. Mingxiu and Kangxi turned around and saw Hainuo still standing there, staring blankly at Kangxi.
"Count Haino, let's go," Kangxi said calmly.
"Ah, oh, okay, let's go." Count Haino clicked his tongue and walked forward stiffly. After a while, as if he had just realized something, he turned to look at Kangxi: "My God, Kangxi, were you just using that mysterious Qing Dynasty kung fu that everyone talked about? It's amazing." He hadn't even realized what was going on when he saw Kangxi simply lift his foot and deflect the shuttle without even aiming.
"It's nothing amazing, just a little bit of the basics." Kangxi didn't think much of it. He used to practice martial arts every day when he was young, but now, due to years of working in front of his desk, his skills had deteriorated considerably.
"Really? I didn't see it clearly just now. I wonder if Old Kang would be willing to demonstrate it again?" Hainuo said somewhat embarrassedly.
“I can use it, but it’s getting late. Shouldn’t we head back?” Kangxi said, glancing at the sky. They had set out very early that morning, but the distance was quite far, and they had spent a lot of time on the road, even missing lunch. If they didn’t go back now, it would probably be dark by the time they got back.
Count Haino snapped out of his daze, glanced at the sky, and instantly realized what was happening.
"Of course, of course let's get ready to go back first, but Lao Kang, what you just did was really amazing." Hainuo's eyes lit up.
Mingxiu found it amusing; it seemed like Count Haino was using modern analysis to see the likeness of a celebrity.
Emperor Kangxi found it amusing, but he was unaware of the relationship between celebrities and fans. After all, he was an emperor, and his most important task was to manage the affairs of the Qing Dynasty. Even if he learned a lot later in the space, he only learned how to make the Qing Dynasty stronger. He wouldn't pay attention to such trivial matters.
Looking at Hainuo, he felt that he was more like the former Yinreng. The former Yinreng was also like this; his eyes would light up whenever he saw something that interested him.
"If Earl Haino is interested, I can teach you a couple of moves when I have time. Thank you for taking care of my wife and me."
"Can I have this?" Haino's eyes lit up with the same enthusiasm a dog has for a bone.
Emperor Kangxi nodded, amused.
“Great idea! But it seems like you don’t have much space there. How about Old Kang comes to my manor tomorrow? I have a lot of collections, and you can take a look around.” Haino said excitedly.
Emperor Kangxi was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and nodded.
Mingxiu watched Kangxi's behavior from the side, completely bewildered. He wasn't usually this enthusiastic, so why was he being so enthusiastic today? Besides, was it appropriate to go to someone else's manor like this?
Mingxiu looked at Kangxi with some worry, but Kangxi signaled to her not to worry.
Mingxiu could only suppress her worries and silently follow the two of them, listening to their conversation.
When he returned home in the evening, dinner was already prepared. Count Haino enjoyed a delicious dinner there before going home. He also made an appointment with Kangxi to send someone over the next day so that the chef could teach him cooking skills. Then he would pick up Kangxi and send him back in the evening, along with the person he had sent to learn the skills.
Kangxi happily agreed, completely ignoring the questions and worried expressions on the faces of Yinzhi and the others around him.
night!
Inside the space, Mingxiu and Kangxi planted the things they had brought back into the soil, while Kangxi explained why he had agreed to it that day.
