"Go, just pull them apart." After Kangxi finished speaking, the guards went up immediately. The guards had all practiced martial arts since childhood, so their strength was naturally incomparable to that of the women on the ground, and they easily pulled them apart.
As soon as the straw mat was pulled back, everyone saw the man on the ground. He looked so young that he didn't look like the woman's father at all; he looked more like her lover.
Moreover, whether it was because their internal energy cultivation was insufficient or because they had some suspicions, they could always feel that they could see the man's chest rising and falling on the ground.
The onlookers VS Mingxiu: This is truly an eye-opener; there are all sorts of people in this world.
Don't people who fake their deaths to scam money feel bad about themselves?
The woman lost all strength as she watched the straw mat being pulled apart, and collapsed to the ground.
"Damn it, what a waste of my feelings! I've never seen such birds before. Young master, why don't you hand these two over to us? We'll take them directly to the authorities. It's such a waste that I even felt sorry for her before," said the burly man beside him.
Everyone immediately echoed this sentiment.
Kangxi glanced at the people around him, nodded, and left with Mingxiu.
Mingxiu was still in shock from the honey trap and only came to her senses after walking a distance.
Swallowing hard, he glanced at Kangxi and exclaimed, "The world is truly full of wonders! When did you figure that out?"
"I saw it a long time ago, but I didn't take action because I thought it wouldn't matter," Kangxi said calmly.
Mingxiu nodded. This woman had walked right into the line of fire. If she had just gone with that man, or if she had simply accepted the money when Mingxiu offered it, none of this would have happened. Alas, greed knows no bounds.
Mingxiu was still thinking when Kangxi suddenly stopped. Mingxiu looked at Kangxi in confusion, only to see Kangxi turn his head to look at the person behind him. Mingxiu looked over and exclaimed, "Oh my, isn't this the handsome man from before?"
How did you get here?
"Hurry up and come over here. What are you doing following behind? It's embarrassing!" Kangxi said coldly.
Mingxiu was already thinking: !! Is this a sign that they know each other?
Upon hearing Kangxi's voice, the handsome man behind him scurried over and greeted him, "Greetings, Imperial Uncle; greetings, Imperial Aunt."
Mingxiu:! ! !
This is a relative, but why doesn't she remember him?
Mingxiu nodded, and after the child stood up, she looked at Mingxiu's questioning gaze and said, "This is Changning's child. He was raised in a temple because of his poor health, and he only came back in the last few years. You haven't met him yet."
Mingxiu looked at the handsome man and thought, "How amazing, a child raised in a temple."
"When did you get back? Did you go home?" Kangxi asked him.
"I came back today and was just about to go back," the handsome man said respectfully. He was worried that if he said he was originally going home but went out of curiosity to join the fun, he might get beaten up.
Kangxi sneered, and Mingxiu couldn't help but laugh. They knew what had happened without even needing to be told. It seemed that she was a young person who loved to gossip.
"Alright, hurry back. Your father must be getting impatient. Go back and let him know I'm back. Then come to the palace," Kangxi said irritably.
"Yes, then I'll take my leave." The handsome man finished speaking and quickly retreated.
Mingxiu and Kangxi had been enjoying the festivities for quite a while, and it was getting late. They decided to head straight back to the palace, otherwise they would miss the closing time.
"Father, Mother, you're back! Why didn't you tell me you were coming back? I would have come out to greet you." Mingxiu and Kangxi had just returned to Yonghe Palace when Yinreng came in directly, followed by the Empress and Hongxi.
Hongxi is a big kid now.
They saw Mingxiu and Kangxi bowing respectfully.
Mingxiu nodded with a smile, then pulled Hongxi aside to talk, leaving the space to the father and son.
"Father, really, you haven't come back for so long. Don't you miss your son? I think Father and Mother are having a good time outside." Yinreng looked at the two of them accusingly.
Mingxiu silently pulled Hongxi around so that she wouldn't look at Yinreng.
Kangxi glanced at Yinreng with disdain: "It's my freedom to stay away from home as long as I want. How old are you? Does it make any difference whether we're by your side or not?"
Yinreng stared at Kangxi with wide eyes: "What are you saying, Father? No matter how old I am, I will always be your precious son. I just love the feeling of having you by my side. Don't even think about getting rid of me."
Emperor Kangxi rolled his eyes when he heard what Yinreng said!
Mingxiu, the Empress, and Hongxizi covered their mouths and chuckled quietly.
Even after all these years, Yinreng is still incredibly naive in some ways.
"Alright, how old are you? Aren't you ashamed? You're the Emperor now, and you're still throwing a tantrum. Besides, didn't you reply to all the letters you wrote along the way? And you're back now." Kangxi was helpless; he was both angry and doting on this son.
“How can that be the same? If Father had told me earlier when he would be back, I would have looked forward to it. That feeling would have been wonderful. But since Father didn’t say when he would be back, I wasn’t happy at all. Now that he’s back, I’m happy, but the happiness is shorter,” Yinreng retorted stubbornly.
Hongxi stared at Yinreng in disbelief, unable to believe that his father, the Emperor, could be such a childish person.
Kangxi was speechless. He looked at the shameless Yinreng, who was still acting like a brat: "Alright, alright, I'll tell you about the proper etiquette before we come back." He didn't know what was wrong with this child; he was becoming more and more clingy as he grew up.
Having received Kangxi's assurance, Yinreng did not speak but turned to look at Mingxiu.
Upon receiving Yinreng's gaze, Mingxiu quickly nodded: "Yes, yes, don't worry, I will definitely inform you later. Even if your father doesn't inform you, I will still inform you. Don't worry."
Kangxi glanced at Mingxiu, then looked at the satisfied Yinreng and his lips moved, but in the end he didn't say anything.
After finally managing to appease Yinreng, it was already quite late. Mingxiu and Kangxi were exhausted from the day, so they simply had someone bring them the gifts that belonged to the family of three and then kicked them out.
Although the journey wasn't particularly arduous, Mingxiu still felt listless, perhaps due to her age, and wanted to rest as soon as possible.
So Kangxi and Mingxiu washed up early and went to bed.
The next morning, before Mingxiu even opened her eyes, she heard Yulan say that Chenghuan had come over.
Mingxiu was so startled that she opened her eyes immediately.
