Chapter 396 Answers to the Imperial Examination

After she had calmed all the children down, Mingxiu finally had some peace and quiet.

Mingxiu and Kangxi returned to the capital early, but it was already quite late when they arrived. Scholars were already arriving in the capital, but there was still some time before the imperial examinations, so it wasn't the busiest time yet. Mingxiu and Kangxi thought it over and decided to stay at Changchun Garden for a while, and then return to celebrate the New Year before the imperial examinations.

The two of them will come out to join in the fun then.

The two had originally planned to come together, but in the end only Mingxiu came by herself. Something happened this morning that prevented Kangxi from coming.

Mingxiu leisurely made her way to Consort Hui's palace. She had only gone halfway when she saw two people sitting in a pavilion. She knew who they were just by looking at their backs.

"Hello, ladies in front! It's been a long time, and I've missed you both. I wonder if you've missed me too?" Mingxiu walked over and gave a polite, gentlemanly bow.

Consort Hui and Lady Hesheli were enjoying the scenery and sunbathing in the pavilion in the middle of the lake when they suddenly heard a familiar voice coming from behind them.

"Sister, when did you get back?" Little Hesheli asked in surprise.

"How did you suddenly appear? You startled us!" Consort Hui turned around and said with surprise. The two quickly got up to greet Mingxiu.

Mingxiu walked up and said with a smile, "I just got back these past two days, and I came straight here to see you guys as soon as I got back. Did you miss me? I missed you guys so much!"

"You smooth talker, didn't you want us to come back sooner? I think you were having too much fun outside." Consort Hui poked Mingxiu's forehead with her finger.

Mingxiu tilted her head following Consort Hui's finger and said with a grin, "How could that be? I really do miss you all. Don't you miss me?"

"Of course I miss you, I miss you every day," Little Hesheli said with a smile.

"This is not bad. It was worth bringing you so many gifts, which were all delivered to your residences. You can see for yourselves when the time comes."

"Okay, I understand. Did you come back alone? The Emperor Emeritus didn't come back with you," Consort Hui asked, puzzled.

"What? He's back, he's all back. He didn't come to the capital yet, it seems there were some things going on there. He was about to leave today when the Emperor called him back, so I came by myself," Mingxiu said casually.

Consort Hui nodded: "Alright, since you're here, stay a while longer. It's been so long since we last met. You have no idea how bored we've been without you."

"Well, since you've been so kind in inviting me, I'll reluctantly stay a little longer," Mingxiu said, placing her hands on her knees and gracefully stroking the embroidery.

Consort Hui and Lady Hesheli rolled their eyes at her. Consort Hui said calmly, "If you don't want to, you can go back at any time. We understand your situation and won't ask you to stay here."

Little Hesheli covered her mouth and laughed.

Mingxiu immediately lost her composure: "What's wrong with you guys? What's wrong with letting someone be a little proud? Seriously, why do you have to expose them?"

"Hahaha, yes, yes, it's our fault. We shouldn't have exposed you, sister. Of course, we hope you can stay here a little longer," Little Hesheli finally couldn't help but say with a grin.

"Hmph, that's more like it." Mingxiu said arrogantly, but couldn't help laughing.

Mingxiu settled down in Changchun Garden. Every day she would either play cards with Consort Hui and the others, watch TV, or take a stroll outside to exercise. She couldn't have lived a more comfortable life.

However, Emperor Kangxi and Prince Yinreng were not so happy.

Kangxi stared at the things on the table with a dark expression: "What happened? Why did this happen? Have you found out?"

Yinreng looked distressed: "How could we possibly find out? It's precisely because we haven't found out that it's so troublesome. If we had found out, we would have already taken action. So, Father, you will help, right?" Yinreng looked at Kangxi with a pitiful expression.

Kangxi looked at the emperor in front of him, who was almost thirty but still very childish, with a twitching mouth: "Where are your people? I don't believe that you don't have your own people and need to use my people to handle things."

"I don't have enough manpower. Father Emperor knows that I've always had very few people. In addition, there have been all sorts of messy things lately, and there are also many places overseas that need manpower. Although the remaining people are somewhat capable, they simply can't do these things well, so I can only trouble Father Emperor."

After looking at the contents for a long time, Emperor Kangxi finally nodded in agreement.

"Alright, I'll have someone investigate this matter first. There's still some time before the imperial examinations, so don't alert them yet. We'll talk about it after we've found out." A cold glint flashed in Kangxi's eyes.

snort!

These people are really something else. They never stop causing trouble. Now they even know the answers to the imperial examinations. Why do they have to do these things when they have the ability to do so many other things?

In the evening, after washing up, Mingxiu returned to her room and said to the servants outside, "Alright, the same old rules apply. I'm going to sleep, so no one is allowed to come in. You can all go and rest, or do your own things, understand?"

"Yes, I understand."

Mingxiu nodded in satisfaction and went straight back into her space. After entering, Mingxiu looked around and realized that Kangxi hadn't finished his work yet.

Mingxiu waited for a while, but Kangxi still hadn't come in. So she stopped waiting and grabbed a basket to pick some durians to eat. The upgraded space was really different. She didn't know what the principle was, but even though it was spring-like all year round, all kinds of fruits and plants could be grown there, including durians.

When Mingxiu first discovered it, she was overjoyed and planted several durian plants in the space. Now the durians are all ripe.

Fortunately, Emperor Kangxi wasn't in yet, so Mingxiu could take this opportunity to eat a durian, otherwise Emperor Kangxi would always complain about her.

Mingxiu wrinkled her nose. She hadn't even complained about Kangxi liking cilantro, but he was already complaining about her eating durian.

Mingxiu walked to the durian tree and looked at the golden durians, her mouth watering. She deftly picked a durian with the tools next to her and then leisurely went back.
