Chapter 406 Fishing

So in less than a quarter of an hour, a fish was successfully caught. Kangxi nodded in satisfaction as he held the fish, which weighed about two pounds.

Mingxiu was also very satisfied. The fish shouldn't be too big, otherwise it would be undercooked, but if it was too small, there wouldn't be much meat to eat. So this size of fish was just right.

“Great, you keep fishing. I’ll start grilling this fish first. We’ll have grilled fish tonight. I also brought some grilled vegetables and some fruit, so we don’t need to cook dinner.” Mingxiu said happily.

Kangxi remained noncommittal and continued fishing while sitting in his chair. Mingxiu had someone clean the fish, and then she began to prepare the vegetables for roasting.

Of course, others were grilling the fish while she watched from the side. By the time Kangxi caught his second fish, the first fish had already been cleaned.

The two leisurely ate grilled fish and chatted until they were completely satisfied before heading back.

Mingxiu and Kangxi spent a comfortable time in Changchun Garden. When they woke up in the morning, Mingxiu looked at the drizzling rain outside and sighed. This rain had been falling for several days and it still wouldn't stop.

Mingxiu was somewhat troubled.

"Your Majesty, the Emperor Emeritus went out early this morning, saying he was going to meet someone and wouldn't be back for lunch," Yu Lan said, standing next to Ming Xiu.

Mingxiu nodded upon hearing this and went out to meet the person. In her somewhat drowsy mind, Mingxiu gradually remembered that this morning, Kangxi seemed to have said that he was going out to meet someone and then asked her if she wanted to go out. At that time, she was very sleepy and refused.

Mingxiu nodded, unable to recall who she had met. She would ask Kangxi when he returned.

After having someone prepare some food for her, she told everyone not to disturb her unless necessary, then went straight into the house, locked the door, and entered her spatial dimension. The air outside was too humid; even in the short time she had just gotten up, she felt sticky and uncomfortable all over, so she decided to stay in her spatial dimension.

Mingxiu sat on the sofa with her legs up, watching TV and snacking, leisurely spending the whole morning in the house. She didn't even go out for lunch, just made herself a packet of instant noodles and rummaged through her spatial storage for some sausages and vegetables, making for a rather lavish meal.

Now that Mingxiu and Kangxi have decided to bind their souls together, she's prepared some things in her space based on the methods she learned from reading novels. She doesn't know if they'll work, but it's okay if they don't. Having supplies on hand keeps you safe.

So she prepared a lot of food during this period, all of which could be stored somewhere, such as instant noodles, homemade dried vegetables, and not much sausage, because they still have a long time to live, and Mingxiu's space cannot be kept from spoiling, so she just keeps replenishing it in case they need it someday.

Around noon, Mingxiu checked the time and figured Kangxi should be back soon, so she came out of her spatial dimension.

As soon as I came out, I heard Yu Lan outside the door say that Kangxi had returned.

Mingxiu raised an eyebrow, thinking that she had really done a good job of managing her time.

Mingxiu opened the door and saw Kangxi walking in. She waved for everyone to leave and then pulled Kangxi inside to change his clothes. Although it was drizzling, his clothes were inevitably a little wet, so it was better to change them to avoid getting sick.

"Who did you go out to see today? Why didn't you choose a different time? It's so inconvenient to go out in the rain," Mingxiu said to Kangxi.

Kangxi glanced at Mingxiu helplessly, a look that left Mingxiu feeling utterly bewildered.

“I knew you didn’t hear me this morning. The guard I left outside saw Little Stone and came to report it first thing this morning. I was worried something might have happened, so I went to check on him. I told you this morning, but you really didn’t hear a word.”

Mingxiu smiled somewhat awkwardly, but then her worry overshadowed her embarrassment, and she quickly asked, "Why is Xiaoshitou here? Didn't he go back to his hometown with his uncle?" Xiaoshitou was Kangxi's first student, and his experiences at such a young age were quite tragic. Mingxiu really liked the well-behaved and adorable Xiaoshitou.

"It's nothing. Little Stone's uncle moved to the capital to do business, so the whole family came over. I went to see him today. The child is chubby and healthy, and seems much more lively. It seems they are doing quite well," Kangxi said casually.

Mingxiu nodded: "That's good. I thought something had happened." Mingxiu breathed a sigh of relief.

Mingxiu also learned from Kangxi that Xiaoshitou has now been arranged to go to school.

This school was set up by Yinreng in the style of a girls' academy, except that the subjects were different. Many people could go in to study, including Xiao Shitou.

Since that's the case, Mingxiu naturally has nothing to worry about. After several days of rain, the weather outside has finally cleared up today, and Mingxiu is very interested in taking Xiaohesheli out for a stroll.

Consort Rong and Consort Wenxi had plenty of time to go out since they could stay at their children's residences. Only Xiao Hesheli usually didn't have the opportunity to go out, so Mingxiu took her out directly.

As for Kangxi and Mingxiu, they simply abandoned each other, since they didn't like shopping anyway.

Kangxi stood behind them, watching their retreating figures with a sigh of resignation, before heading into his study.

Inside the carriage, Little Hesheli clenched her fists nervously, her eyes fixed on the scenery outside without blinking.
