After the two talked for a while, it was already quite late, so Mingxiu left the space and went back to sleep, otherwise she might not be able to get up the next day.
The next day, when she slowly opened her eyes, it was already noon. After washing up, she and her friends started exploring the place, even though she had only arrived a little early. In just one day, she had already become very familiar with many areas.
Zheng Shuang is cooking for them there.
Next to the pond in the backyard.
"You guys are really something. I told you you wouldn't catch anything, but you still insisted on fishing here. Look what you've caught after all this time," Zheng Shuang said helplessly, looking at the group of people sitting in the backyard fishing and refusing to leave.
"Who said that? Look, Mingxiu caught one. Why can she catch one while we can't? We can catch one too," Sun Xiu said, somewhat unconvinced.
There's nothing we can do about it. Mingxiu was so arrogant just now, so only she can catch these fish while no one else can.
Mingxiu listened to these words from the side and smiled, covering her mouth.
"Why can't you just use a net? As long as you can catch fish, that's fine. You don't necessarily have to use a fishing rod," Zheng Shuang said helplessly.
Upon hearing this, the group realized that it did indeed seem to make sense.
“Yeah, we can use a net, there’s no need to use a fishing rod. Seriously, oh dear, I’ve fallen into a dead end, it’s all Mingxiu’s fault,” Wu Qianqian said, patting her head.
"Haha, hahaha, you guys!" Mingxiu couldn't help but clutch her stomach and laugh.
The group laughed and joked around for a while before heading back for dinner. Of course, they didn't end up using the fish they had caught, since it was already quite late.
The weather was great, and Mingxiu and the others had a lot of fun there.
And since everyone had come all this way, they figured they should at least buy some souvenirs, so they all started buying some local specialties from the countryside. Of course, they all paid for them.
So word quickly spread throughout the village that several wealthy people had arrived, all of whom were friends of Zheng Shuang, and they were all very generous with their money.
Although Mingxiu felt they bought a lot of things, the prices weren't too expensive, so she didn't pay much attention. However, she forgot that for people who lived in this kind of place year-round, even small amounts of money meant a lot to them. Therefore, many people in the village had already begun to covet their possessions.
Their timing was perfect; they arrived just in time for Zheng Shuang's village's annual market day. Everyone was setting up stalls to sell things, and some families who also had limited access to the market came to sell their goods.
None of them had ever experienced a rural market like this before, so they were all very excited to come out and try it out. Mingxiu and Sun Xue looked at the mysterious, ancient, and solemn activities around them, wondering what they were, and their eyes were filled with anticipation.
"This is our local mountain god worship activity. We usually hold this activity on this day every year. Long ago, there was a legend in the village that we are all descendants of the mountain god, passed down from generation to generation. So we have the mountain god worship activity every year," Zheng Shuang explained, seeing everyone's curious looks.
Mingxiu and the others nodded, and just as they were about to say something, they felt someone pulling at her from the side.
“Young ladies, you’re from the city, huh? What brings you to our little mountain village? Is there anything you want to buy? Are you married?” a woman with her hair in a bun asked.
Mingxiu grinned awkwardly, "Yes, my classmates are here. I just came to visit them today." After saying that, she didn't continue the conversation. But the woman, oblivious to her own shortcomings, kept talking to herself, "Oh my, young lady, you're so pretty! Are you married? How about I introduce you to someone? I have a son who's very handsome, tall, and has many suitors. I'll introduce you to him sometime, if you like him."
Mingxiu felt a headache coming on when she heard these words. She tugged at her clothes, but couldn't get them out, so she quickly interrupted her, "No need, Auntie, I've been married for several years already."
The woman with her hair in a bun looked at her with slight surprise. "Oh my, look at this young girl, so young, already married in her teens. It's obvious she didn't even register the marriage. These days, young people don't take marriage seriously. They get married just like that, and they get divorced just like that. You know, if you get divorced and have a child, it's not easy to find a new partner. It's not like when we were young..."
Mingxiu took a deep breath and looked around. She had just been a step too late, and Zheng Shuang and the others had already gone ahead. Now, seeing that no one was coming to rescue her, she quickly interrupted the woman, "Auntie, really, it's not necessary. I've already registered my marriage, and I have no intention of getting a divorce. My friends have gone far away, so I have to leave quickly."
After Mingxiu finished speaking, she turned to leave, but the people next to her wouldn't listen to her at all. They tugged at her clothes, and another person next to her also tugged at her clothes, nudging her and muttering to himself, "A woman's second marriage isn't worth much. Even if she's willing to pay someone, they'll still consider her age. It's not that easy to leave one family and enter another. They just think you're young and easy to control. It's better to find someone you know well. Look at us..."
Mingxiu felt his head buzzing. Why was this so boring? Were these people out of their minds? He had already refused, so why were they still so annoying? "I already said I'm not getting a divorce. I'm married, my husband and I have a great relationship, and I have no plans to divorce. Even if I do, I won't find someone else. You can leave your precious son to someone else; I'm not worthy of him. So can you please be quiet for a bit? I already said I need to go find my friend, please let me go, okay? Stop pulling and tugging at me. If you keep pulling me, I'll call for help."
