Before Wu could react, Lanqin suddenly stood up, and Nianxue quickly went to her side and helped Lanqin out.
The master and servant arrived at the entrance of Xiaoyin Pavilion, asked the old woman guarding the gate for directions to the washroom, and then headed towards the washroom.
"Nianxue, let's go for a stroll in that garden over there. I don't really like that play anyway. It's so boring to sit there with them." After Lanqin and Nianxue came out of the washroom, they saw a garden and decided not to go back to Xiaoyin Pavilion.
"Princess, if we don't go back, I'm afraid it will displease the Third and Fourth Prince's wives." Nianxue was a little worried; the princess was starting to act childish again.
"It's alright, I didn't do anything, I'll just be a little late getting back." Lanqin didn't seem to mind. She had been sitting for half an hour, and she really couldn't stand it anymore. Fortunately, she usually stayed in her own small courtyard in the south, and fortunately, the Fujin (wife of the emperor) didn't require them to pay their respects to each other every morning and evening, otherwise she really might have gotten into a fight with that Wu Shi.
Seeing that she couldn't stop her, Nianxue had no choice but to help Lanqin walk towards the small garden. As soon as the two entered the garden, they were stunned by the wisteria flowers hanging all over the yard.
"So beautiful!" Lanqin exclaimed joyfully. She pulled away from Nianxue's hand and walked into the sea of wisteria blossoms that resembled bunches of grapes. Her earlier annoyance vanished instantly amidst the breathtaking beauty of the flowers.
"So this is where my sister is!" Just as the two of them stopped in the midst of the large wisteria blossoms, a gentle and sweet voice suddenly came from behind them.
It was Ye Ying and Madam Yin, who were standing at the entrance of the courtyard.
Lanqin turned around and saw that it was Madam Yin. She immediately called out to her happily, "Come and see, the wisteria flowers here are so beautiful."
Madam Yin, her belly protruding, slowly walked over and said with a smile, "I noticed that my sister hasn't returned for a long time. I'm afraid she's tripped up somewhere."
"That play was really boring; we'd be better off admiring the flowers here," Lanqin said dismissively.
"Sister, are you angry because of what Sister Wu said? She's always like that. Sister, you don't need to be sad because of her words." Madam Yin followed behind Lanqin, seemingly sticking to her side.
“I have never taken her words to heart, but she is a bully who preys on the weak. I heard that my sister lives in the same courtyard as her, so she will inevitably be ridiculed by her. I might as well talk to her frankly. In terms of status, she is also a princess, so there is no need for her to be modest.” Lanqin said this. She knew that Madam Yin always swallowed her anger, and even Peony was so tolerant, let alone Madam Wu.
After admiring the wisteria blossoms with Lanqin for a while, Madam Yin suddenly felt a little thirsty and said to Lanqin, "Sister, you feel a little thirsty. How about you, elder sister?"
Lanqin was having a great time when she heard what Madam Yin said, so she said to her, "You shouldn't stand for too long. You should go back and rest first. I'll play for a while longer and then go back too."
Madam Yin quickly shook her head and said, "I don't want to listen either. I'd rather stay with my sister. Ye Ying, go and get some water for me and my sister."
Ye Ying glanced at Madam Yin and then withdrew. Not long after, Nian Xue suddenly noticed that Madam Yin was hunched over, her hands rubbing her abdomen, as if she was in some discomfort.
"Princess, Princess Yin seems to be feeling a little unwell," Nianxue immediately said to Lanqin.
Upon hearing this, Lanqin immediately saw Madam Yin sitting on a large rock and noticed that her face looked extremely pale. She quickly went over to her and asked with concern, "Sister Yin, what's wrong?"
At this moment, Madam Yin's small face seemed to be enduring great pain, and she didn't even have the strength to speak. She gritted her teeth and said, "I suddenly feel uncomfortable in my stomach. Sister, can you go and find someone to come and see me quickly?"
When Lanqin heard that Yin Shi's stomach was uncomfortable, she immediately became anxious, fearing that something might happen to the baby in Yin Shi's womb. She was about to go and call someone, but then she thought that she couldn't leave Yin Shi alone there, so she said to her, "Can you get up and walk? I'll help you back together."
Madam Yin shook her head and pointed to her stomach, as if she could no longer walk.
Lanqin and Nianxue exchanged a glance and said, "Nianxue, go find the Fujin (principal wife) and call someone over immediately. I'll stay here and watch over Sister Yin."
At this moment, Nianxue was also very worried about Madam Yin, fearing that something might have happened to her. So without thinking, she hurriedly ran out of the garden to Xiaoyin Pavilion to find the Fourth Princess Consort.
Seeing that the pain on Madam Yin's face seemed to have intensified, Lanqin was frantic and didn't know what to do. She could only sit with her on the big rock, constantly comforting her and telling her not to worry, that the baby in her womb should be alright.
Meanwhile, when Nianxue arrived at Xiaoyin Pavilion, she found that the Fourth Prince's wife was not there, nor were Song Shi, Wu Shi, and others. Only Gao Shi and Ma Jia Shi were still there, and even the Third Prince's wife and others were not there.
When Nianxue thought that Madam Yin was still waiting for her to call for someone, she hurriedly walked up to Madam Gao, curtsied, and asked, "May I ask, Madam Gao, where are my wife and the other ladies? I have something urgent to tell you."
When Gao saw Nianxue, her face immediately showed surprise. "Yin Gege's maid ran over and called away the Third and Fourth Prince's wives. Didn't you say that your princess and Yin Gege had a disagreement and started arguing? When she saw that Yin Gege couldn't win the argument, she had no choice but to come and invite the prince's wives over?"
Nianxue was struck dumb. Why did Ye Ying lie? She was clearly fetching water for the Yin family!
Just as she was wondering what was going on, Ma Jia suddenly said, "Both of you maids ran away, leaving your mistress there arguing!"
Her words sent a chill down Nianxue's spine. As if she had thought of something, she immediately turned and ran toward the door, leaving the bewildered Gao and Ma Jia there.
Lanqin was getting anxious when she saw that Ye Ying and Nian Xue had been gone for a while and hadn't returned. She also noticed that Madam Yin seemed to be feeling increasingly unwell, so she immediately put her hand on her back and patted it, hoping that her touch would ease her discomfort.
"Sister, please help me up. I'll try to walk." Madam Yin suddenly said.
Lanqin wondered why she wanted to walk by herself, but she didn't think much of it and helped Madam Yin up from the stone.
Just as Lanqin was helping Madam Yin take a few steps toward the door, Madam Yin suddenly pulled her arm away from Lanqin's hand, then stepped back and fell backward, sitting down and groaning on the ground.
All of this happened so suddenly that Lanqin was completely stunned. She didn't understand why Madam Yin suddenly broke free from her grasp and then fell backward; had she lost her mind?
"Sister, why did you push me!" Madam Yin lay prostrate on the ground, her eyes instantly filled with tears, looking at Lanqin with disbelief.
