Chapter 1510 Continue to Pretend

"This woman's face changes faster and faster!" Fourth Master muttered.

Then he immediately went to the nearest palace to take shelter from the rain.

After receiving the umbrella from the palace servants, the Fourth Prince went to the Ministry of Revenue.

After an afternoon, the Fourth Prince was thinking of going to Consort De's place for dinner again that evening, and perhaps he could also say a few words to Lanqin! However, after thinking about it, he realized that there was no point in going so rashly, so he left the palace instead.

After returning to the manor, the Fourth Prince thought for a moment and then went to visit Lady Wuya. After about ten days of recuperation, she was able to walk on her own, but she still couldn't go out.

"Master, the master has arrived!" Cuiyun immediately came in to report after receiving the report from the maid.

The one from the South Courtyard has left, but Fourth Master hasn't come much either! Seeing this, Madam Wuya was incredibly annoyed. But upon hearing that Fourth Master had arrived, she happily asked Cuiyun, "How do I look?"

In order to regain her figure as soon as possible, Wuya dared not eat much and only drank soup.

"Princess, you've lost a lot of weight!" Cuiyun said hurriedly. Actually, Cuiyun had been living in constant fear these past few days. She hadn't yet told Wuya about the incident where the Fourth Prince caught the woman burning paper money for the child in the garden. Judging from the situation that day, the Fourth Prince didn't seem to have heard any important information, otherwise he wouldn't be so calm now.

The Fourth Prince walked in calmly. Lady Wuya was already curtsied, presenting her gradually recovering figure to the Fourth Prince.

"You've just recovered, there's no need for formalities," Fourth Master said calmly, looking at the person who was once so familiar.

"Thank you for your consideration, sir!" Madam Wuya had hoped that the Fourth Prince would step forward to help her up, but he did not.

"Let's set out the meal. I've been busy these days and haven't had time to come see you," Fourth Master said as he walked to the main seat in the hall.

"Your business is important, sir. I am but a lowly concubine, how could I trouble you with such a concern?" Uya said, bowing her head obediently.

"Wanru, how did you miscarry that day?" Fourth Master asked, changing the subject after hearing what Wuya had said.

Wuya was surprised that the Fourth Prince would suddenly ask about this, so she quickly replied, "That day, after arguing with Consort Niu in the small garden during the day, I was restless when I got back. I was worried that I might have offended Consort Niu, so I accidentally stepped off the rails and slipped on the ground."

Cuiyun, standing to the side, felt uneasy. Why did her master ask about this as soon as he arrived? She knew, of course, that Wuya hadn't actually fallen; she had deliberately bumped her stomach, causing the miscarriage.

"Oh. I wonder what Wanru and Lanqin argued about in that garden? Why don't you tell me?" Fourth Master continued.

When the Fourth Prince asked about that day, tears welled up in Wuya's eyes. Between sobs, she said, "My lord, I really shouldn't have gone to that little garden that day, otherwise I wouldn't have met Consort Niu. I was born of humble birth and have never been well-received since entering the household. I know I'm not as good as my sisters, so I've always avoided them. But perhaps Consort Niu has long harbored resentment towards me, and she said that I am of lowly birth and have bewitched you. I felt truly wronged, but I managed to argue back a few times. It's all my fault, please don't ask about it anymore."

"If you don't explain yourself clearly, how can I stand up for you!" The Fourth Prince's eyes fell on Wuya, and the face that used to show him so much pity now looked so hypocritical.

"My lord, it was my fault. I shouldn't have argued with Consort Niu. Otherwise, I wouldn't be so restless upon my return." Uya-shi, believing the Fourth Prince had indeed come to investigate the situation, continued to feign a wronged appearance, as if she dared not speak out. Little did she know, the Fourth Prince's gaze was growing increasingly cold.

"So, the concubine didn't actually do anything; she just said a few words to you, and then Wanru came back and had a miscarriage?" the Fourth Prince asked.

"Master?" Wuya looked up at the Fourth Master in surprise, only to see him looking at her with a scrutinizing gaze.

“It was Wanru herself who said it. I did not hear from you that Niohuru directly attacked you or caused your miscarriage,” the Fourth Prince said. “Niohuru is currently serving your mother in the palace. I have already asked her, and she told me that Wanru spoke rudely first.”

"I didn't! She's talking nonsense!" A flash of rage crossed Wuya's eyes, but she immediately suppressed her anger at the Fourth Prince's gaze.

“Now Wanru and she each have their own version of events, and I find it very difficult to decide whose side to believe,” the Fourth Prince said. “Wanru, you have always been someone I trust and value, and I don’t think you are such a vicious woman. As for the matter of Wanru being poisoned with that appetite-stimulating drug, it was indeed Zhao Mingcai who did it. However, he has already committed suicide, and it is impossible to find the instigator from him. I still need to investigate carefully.” The Fourth Prince said. In fact, he was just stating the facts, but after hearing this, Wuya immediately showed a wronged look, clutching her handkerchief and saying, “Your Highness, I will leave the decision to you.”

"Wanru, sit down and have your meal. I have other matters to attend to tonight, and after this meal, I must return to the front courtyard," said the Fourth Prince.

Upon hearing this, Wuya's joy immediately diminished, and she sat down dejectedly to dine with the Fourth Master.

During the meal, Lady Uya felt a mix of emotions, like a bottle of vinegar had been spilled. She had sacrificed so much, and this was the result. Lady Niohuru, on the other hand, hadn't suffered a single loss, and the Fourth Prince was speaking up for her again.

"My lord, I have no appetite and cannot dine with you." In order to diet, Lady Wuya had indeed stopped eating solid food.

“You’re still in your postpartum period, how can you not eat?” Fourth Master said.

"I can't eat," said Lady Uya.

"You just eat your meal. I'll come back to you after I've finished dealing with things. You wait for me!" Fourth Master said.

"Yes!" As expected, Madam Wuya regained her interest and happily served food to the Fourth Master.

After the Fourth Prince finished his meal with Lady Wuya, he sat for a while longer before leaving.

Wuya hurriedly ordered the maids to fetch water, as her master would be coming again that evening. Although she was still in her postpartum period, she still needed to get ready.

After Fourth Master walked out, he thought of Ushiha and Bechuk, so he went to the South Courtyard.

The excuse he made to Wuya earlier was just that—an excuse. He needed to come back and set up a scheme to see what kind of woman he once cherished had become in order to win his favor.

The Fourth Prince was thinking of the two princesses, so he went to the South Courtyard to see Wuxiha and Bechuk first. Sure enough, as soon as they saw the Fourth Prince, they rushed into his arms and cried out for their mother.
