“Bechuk!” Namin’s eyes were filled with tears. Hearing Bechuk say this, she couldn’t help but reach out and try to grab Bechuk’s hand.
Bechuk quickly went to meet her and took her hand, saying, "What happened? If you have something on your mind, you might as well tell me."
Namin was filled with extreme pain as she recalled the words her stepmother's aunt had spoken to her. Now, at fifteen years old, she had considered Wu Shi her own mother for fifteen years, yet now someone was saying she wasn't her mother—Namin simply couldn't understand it. She instinctively refused to believe it, but why would someone close to her stepmother say such things to her?
These past few days, Namin has locked herself in her room, refusing to see anyone, wanting to think things through, but she hasn't found a single suspicious detail. Madam Wu has been incredibly attentive to her, never showing any sign that she isn't her biological mother, which makes Namin wonder if she's been deceived for fifteen years?
"Beichuk, is my mother really my mother?" Namin finally shouted out the words that had been most aggrieved in her heart, and then tears streamed down her clear black and white eyes.
"Third Sister, don't you feel how good Aunt Wu is to you? If she weren't your mother, why would she treat you so well? Ushiha and I both think Aunt Wu is incredibly good to you," Bechuk quickly said. When Lanqin told her about Namin's situation, she had also asked Lanqin if Aunt Wu was Namin's biological mother. Lanqin only told her one sentence: "The kindness of raising is greater than the kindness of giving birth." Now, why ask whether she is her biological mother or not?
Bechuk understood, so she wouldn't tell Namin whether Wu was her biological mother or not, because the debt of raising her was indeed greater than the debt of giving birth to her.
"Third Sister, do you remember when you were eight years old, we went swimming together at Bixin Lake, and you fell in because you were so captivated by the beautiful scenery? Aunt Wu risked her own life to save you. Do you also remember when you were ten years old, you had a bout of smallpox, and Aunt Wu stayed by your side day and night, ignoring everyone's advice, insisting on taking care of you herself? Is this all true?" Biechuk recalled for Namin every little detail of Aunt Wu's kindness to her.
Namin's inner turmoil was stirred by these words. In truth, she just couldn't accept that Wu Shi wasn't her biological mother. What should she do? Because she deeply loved Wu Shi, she couldn't accept the fact that she wasn't her biological mother in a short time, especially since that person said that her biological mother was killed by them!
"But why did she say that my mother was... was murdered?" Namin recalled that Lingxiu was referring to Bechuk's mother, Consort Niu, and glanced at Bechuk with difficulty. Although she had no recollection of her "biological mother," being suddenly told this would be hard for anyone to understand, let alone a fifteen-year-old girl.
"Third Sister, who told you this? Actually, you only need to ask Father, and you'll know everything." Bechuk blinked and said. This was also what Lanqin had told her beforehand; if Namin couldn't figure it out, she should tell her to go ask Fourth Master.
Upon hearing Bechuk's words, Namin immediately sniffed, her mind clearing somewhat. She nodded and said, "Yes, go ask Father!"
No one knows this better than his own father!
“Then let the maid come in and wash up, we’ll change our clothes, and then when Father comes back, we’ll go ask him together,” Bechuk said, holding Namin’s hand.
Namin thought for a moment and nodded. Bechuk immediately called in the maid who was waiting outside to help Namin wash up.
Bechuk stayed in Namin's room with her until the Fourth Prince returned. Lanqin went to find him and told him about Namin. Lanqin naturally didn't say that the Princess Consort had deliberately told Namin, only that she didn't know who had let it slip.
Fourth Master frowned, for when he ordered Wu to adopt Namin, he had specifically instructed that Namin not be told.
“Your Highness, Namin’s wedding date is only two or three months away. If she is upset and at odds with Sister Wu, who knows what will happen when she gets married,” Lanqin said to the Fourth Prince. “Your Highness should tell Namin yourself that someone is spreading rumors, stop her, shut her up, and deal with her.”
Fourth Master also said, "Well, I'll go check on Namin now."
Meanwhile, Wu was restless in the house. She saw that Biechuke had persuaded Namin, but she couldn't go in to explain, and she was extremely anxious.
"Your Highness!"
The Fourth Master strode in with his long legs. Wu Shi, looking worried, immediately called out when she saw him.
"Where is Namin?" Seeing Wu Shi's worried expression, Fourth Master grew even angrier at the person who had told Namin those past events. Although Lanqin hadn't said anything, only a handful of people knew about those things back then.
"Fifth Princess stayed with her in her room the whole time. It was Fifth Princess who persuaded Namin to stay calm, otherwise she would have continued to argue with me," Wu said, tears streaming down her face. For the past fourteen years, Wu had always cherished Namin, and now someone had stabbed them in the back, causing them both pain.
The Fourth Prince then walked with his hands behind his back towards Na Min's room. Wu Shi was worried, so she followed behind him the whole time.
“Third sister, Aunt Wu has been so good to you all these years, even if she wasn’t your birth mother, she probably has.” “Why are you still holding a grudge?” Biechuk had been talking to Namin, and seeing that she was still struggling with this, he offered some words of advice.
"Bechuk is right!"
A soft shout came from outside the house; it was Fourth Master.
The Fourth Master personally pushed open the door and entered, only to see two girls sitting in front of the dressing table inside the moon gate, talking to each other.
“Father!” Bechuk stood up and called out softly.
“Father!” Namin hesitated for a moment, then stood up and called out with her head bowed.
"Namin, quickly tell your father who said those outrageous things to you!" Fourth Master frowned and said, "You are naturally your mother's biological daughter. The person who said these things is simply malicious and wants to deliberately sow discord between you and your mother."
"Really? Father?" Upon hearing Fourth Master's words, Namin immediately raised her hand and smiled, ignoring the tear stains still on her face.
“How could your father lie to you? Just believe what your father says, and don’t listen to other people’s gossip,” Fourth Master said.
"Yes, daughter knows she was wrong. Someone must have been trying to drive a wedge between me and mother." Namin was like someone who had walked into a dead end. Now that she finally heard the most convincing words from the most persuasive person, she naturally preferred to believe that everything before was wrong.
"Who exactly told you that?" Fourth Master continued to ask.
