"Your Majesty, it's time for your meal!" Baoqin said to Lanqin, who was sitting in the study writing.
"Is it raining outside?" Lanqin asked slowly, putting down her brush.
"Indeed, the rain was really heavy. It was as if the sky had burst open, and the water was pouring down directly; even oil-paper umbrellas couldn't keep out the rain," Baoqin said with a smile. They were all very happy about the rain, because it meant they wouldn't have to be so hot anymore.
Lanqin then followed Baoqin out of the study. Her dining room was located in a side hall of the main hall.
Several palace maids, still dripping with water, walked in from another direction. Upon seeing Lanqin, they quickly curtsied.
"Why are you all so soaked?" Lanqin asked.
"Your Majesty, it was Sister Nianxia who sent us to the Imperial Household Department to fetch fruit for you, but we were caught in this downpour," the maids said, their hair completely soaked.
"Go change your clothes quickly, don't catch a cold," Baoqin said hurriedly.
Lanqin ate her lunch alone in silence. Wuxiha had gotten married, Hongli had left the palace, and Bechuk had never had the habit of eating with Lanqin.
Lanqin thought of the Fourth Master, who hadn't dined with her in a long time either.
"Take it, you can use it." Lanqin rarely lost her appetite.
"Your Majesty, you're using too little!" Baoqin said worriedly.
"I don't have much of an appetite in the summer," Lanqin said. "Why is the weather still so unbearably hot? Bring me my raincoat, I want to go for a walk."
“Your Majesty, it’s pouring rain outside, what are you doing out here?” Baoqin asked.
"It's been a long time since I've been caught in the rain. I want to go for a walk. Don't worry, I'm wearing a raincoat. Go get yours, so people don't see something strange if you wear mine." Lanqin suddenly said playfully.
When Baoqin saw a smile finally appear on Lanqin's face, he immediately agreed.
After Baoqin helped Lanqin put on her raincoat, Lanqin said, "Don't follow me. I want to go for a walk by myself."
“Your Majesty, I’d better stay with you!” Baoqin said.
"No need, are you afraid of losing it?" Lanqin laughed. "I know this palace better than anyone else."
Baoqin was puzzled, but Lanqin had already taken an umbrella and stepped into the rain.
Lanqin walked to the gate of Changchun Palace and asked the gatekeeper to open it.
She hadn't stepped out of Changchun Palace for three whole months, effectively confining herself to her quarters. Only Lanqin herself knew how many times she had meticulously reviewed the past ten years since she transmigrated, repeatedly pondering the various relationships she had with the Fourth Prince.
A scent of earth wafted towards her, and Lanqin took a deep sniff, inhaling the fragrance of flowers and the earthy smell.
Lin Mengyao, you've imprisoned yourself in his cage for so long, how come you're almost forgetting yourself?
Lanqin asked herself a question in her heart, and the self that she had almost forgotten was slowly reviving in her heart.
"Your Majesty, it's raining heavily outside, please be careful," said Granny Wang, who was guarding the palace gate.
Lanqin smiled at her and stepped out with ease.
Behind her, the palace gates closed once again. Lanqin stood on the steps at the entrance of Changchun Palace, looking left and right; on both sides were long palace corridors.
Lanqin, wearing wooden clogs, slowly walked down the steps. She wanted to go and see the west gate tower, so she headed west.
