Qiao Suinian's expression became extremely solemn.
Like the succubus he had encountered before, the Abyss Corpse Clan was a truly highly intelligent alien race, whose intelligence was in no way inferior to that of humans.
It is rumored that the virus that can turn humans into zombies originated from the Abyss Zombie Clan.
No one knows the origin of the Abyss Corpse Clan. All that is known is that they are like corpses, without heartbeats or breath, yet they can move like the living, only they abhor any light.
Qiao Suinian had only heard of the Abyss Corpse Clan, but had never seen one in person.
Could there be a lair of the Abyss Corpse Clan hidden beneath this forbidden area of Kyoto?
"Sui Nian, what are you talking about? What Abyss Corpse Clan?" Han Yueling was completely confused.
“It’s a terrifying alien race!” Qiao Suinian took a deep breath. “If what’s down there really is that thing, then it explains why so many people died silently after coming down.”
"Are the Abyss Corpse Clan very strong in combat?" Han Yueling pressed.
"You can think of it as... the Abyss Corpse Clan are super zombies with extremely high intelligence and various skills." Qiao Suinian smiled wryly.
Han Yueling's beautiful eyes widened instantly; she understood, of course, how terrifying such zombies would be.
"We definitely can't climb out of this pit. Even if there are Abyss Corpse Clan members down there, we can only continue exploring."
"I need to recover my mana first. Can you kill some bats for me?" Qiao Suinian said, then sat down to meditate.
Han Yueling nodded, then waved her ice-blue staff, and countless sharp ice shards, each as thick as a wrist, condensed and shot directly at the bats.
Despite their large size, these bats were only good for scaring ordinary people. Faced with Han Yueling's power, they were completely powerless to fight back, and a large number of them died in the blink of an eye.
"Alright, that's enough!"
Qiao Suinian got up and walked to the pile of bat corpses. Every time he used the skull staff, a bat would turn into an undead creature and revive.
At level 4, each resurrection of an undead creature consumes 20% of the user's mana, so Qiao Suinian needs to rest for a while after each resurrection of five bats before he can continue.
Han Yueling watched from the side, somewhat puzzled.
"Why are you reviving these bats? They're not very capable of fighting."
"Cover up the presence of us living beings," Qiao Suiqing said softly.
In some ways, the Abyss Corpse Clan is very similar to undead creatures. They are extremely sensitive to the presence of living people. If Han Yueling and I were to foolishly barge in like this, we would surely be doomed.
Using the bat corpses as cover, they could effectively conceal the presence of Qiao Suinian and Han Yueling, preventing them from being discovered by the Abyss Corpse Clan.
After an unknown amount of time, Qiao Suinian resurrected nearly thirty bats. When these enormous bats flapped their wings and took flight, they resembled a huge black curtain.
Under Qiao Suinian's control, the bats surrounded him and Han Yueling, perfectly concealing their figures.
From the outside, all you can see is a large clump of black bats; no one would suspect that there are two living people hiding inside.
"Now we can go deeper!" Qiao Suinian took a deep breath, and then led Han Yueling to explore deeper underground.
It was pitch black all around, so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. Fortunately, Qiao Suinian was still able to get a rough idea of the surrounding terrain thanks to his undead creature's perception of the outside world.
As they moved forward, the surroundings began to narrow. The terrain at the bottom seemed to be funnel-shaped. As they walked, Qiao Suinian could already see the stone wall on the other side.
He raised his hand and touched it; the stone wall was still covered with damp soil, indicating that the place had been carved out not long ago.
Qiao Suinian moved with utmost lightness, guiding Han Yueling forward little by little, not daring to rush at all, for this place was definitely not simple.
Given his current serious injuries, Qiao Suinian had no choice but to exercise extreme caution.
As they moved forward, the surroundings became narrower and narrower, eventually only wide enough for one person to pass at a time. Helpless, Qiao Suinian could only move forward one after the other with Han Yueling.
After passing through the narrowest section of the road, the surroundings suddenly opened up.
Just as Qiao Suinian breathed a sigh of relief, he suddenly caught a glimpse of someone standing to his right!
No!
To be precise, it wasn't a person, but a humanoid creature!
Because it's impossible for a human to grow to three meters tall!
Qiao Suinian stiffly turned his head. To his right, a strange humanoid creature was quietly embedded in the stone wall. Its skin was an eerie bluish-green, and two fangs on its lower jaw were raised high, making it look chilling.
More importantly, this humanoid creature was not breathing and had no heartbeat.
Qiao Suinian's Adam's apple bobbed involuntarily. So this was the Abyss Corpse Clan?
Although the humanoid creature in front of him looked just like a real corpse, Qiao Suinian dared not let his guard down in the slightest.
Who knows what the consequences would be if this thing were awakened?
"Hurry up, don't wake him up!" Qiao Suinian whispered, pulling Han Yueling along as they walked quickly forward.
"Is that the Abyss Corpse Clan? How terrifying! If I hadn't looked with my own eyes, I wouldn't have noticed that such a monster was hiding there!" Han Yueling was also a little scared.
"I've never seen it either, but it's highly likely!"
Qiao Suinian nodded, her steps quickening. Fortunately, with a large swarm of bats providing cover, the abyss corpse seemed not to have been awakened by Qiao Suinian and her companions, but continued to sleep.
