Chapter 10: I Took Off My Brother's Green Hat (10)

Ji Huaijin breathed a sigh of relief after receiving the medical report, but after asking about his condition, the doctor asked him to come back for another check-up in three months.

Ji Huaizhi stays at home taking care of the children.

Hearing her older brother say she was pregnant didn't surprise her: "What are you going to do then?"

"What should we do? Should we keep the child with her? I only want Shushu." Ji Huaijin opened a bottle of beer with one hand.

Fortunately, he had a brother who listened to his complaints.

"We still need to collect the evidence that needs to be collected. I always felt that divorce wouldn't be so easy," Ji Huaizhi pondered.

Upon hearing this, Ji Huaijin looked up and said, "She agreed. She's also afraid that I'll make a big fuss about it."

"And what about your classmate surnamed He?"

Ji Huaijin loosened his collar, took a deep breath, and leaned back against the sofa cushion: "Of course, we should give him a big gift."

"I thought you were going to be a gentleman and swallow your anger." Ji Huaizhi nodded in satisfaction, eating the duck offal on the coffee table. "Isn't he having a full-month celebration?"

"Why don't we just send them a big gift package then?"

"You're quite a rascal," Ji Huaijin chuckled.

"It's not that I'm bad, it's that you're too much of a saint."

"There's nothing I can do. She's Shushu's mother, so I have to give her face. But if she continues to cause trouble, then it's not too late for me to turn against her."

Ji Huaijin was pulled back home by Ji Huaizhi and Shushu to prevent him from thinking about things alone.

Ji's mother was overjoyed to hear that her eldest son was coming back.

Let Lao Ji go to the market to buy vegetables early in the morning.

I thought Shushu's mother was coming back too, but I didn't expect to see two brothers and a baby.

"Wanyi hasn't returned?" Ji's mother asked in confusion.

What happened?

"She went back to her parents' home for some business." Ji Huaijin came in carrying some things. He mainly came to tell his parents about their divorce.

We also need to give them a heads-up.

Mrs. Ji's expression softened slightly: "I see. Then come in, dinner's almost ready."

"Old Ji, bring the dishes." Ji's mother patted Ji's father on the shoulder and gave him a wink to go to the kitchen.

Understanding the look in his eyes, Old Ji put down his granddaughter and said, "Sit down and don't eat snacks, it's time to eat."

"What's wrong?" Father Ji asked, puzzled. "Why did you call me in?"

Mother Ji raised her chin and gestured towards the living room: "The couple had a fight, and it must have been quite a fierce one."

Father Ji was speechless: "Why are you worrying about this? You already know everything. Don't have any opinions about Feng Wanyi. Even if they quarrel, we older generation shouldn't get involved."

Ji's mother slapped him, glaring at him: "What did you say?"

"What's wrong with me? Is this how you think of me?"

"No, no, no." Knowing he had said the wrong thing, Mr. Ji quickly admitted, "I misspoke."

"You damn man, you're just disgusted with me, aren't you?" Ji's mother was furious. "Your son has lost weight, haven't you noticed? He hasn't been resting well lately."

"You're still chattering away about me."

"Yes, yes, yes." Father Ji nodded: "Don't be angry, don't be angry. It's normal for couples to quarrel. It would be strange if they didn't."

"We'll help take care of the child." I thought we were going to have a grandchild, but it turned out to be an argument.

Ji's father felt a little disappointed.

"Old Ji, I'm telling you, you..." Ji's mother sighed, "Never mind, I won't say anything more."

"There's nothing to say to you. He's my son, don't I know him? You can tell he's got something on his mind."

Ji Huaizhi looked towards the kitchen, raised an eyebrow at his older brother, and called out, "Mom, I'm hungry, isn't it ready yet?"

"Coming, coming!" Mother Ji came out carrying the dishes.

Mr. Ji looked completely innocent, not understanding how he had offended her again.

Today, Ji's mother stewed chicken and steamed fish.

There were other dishes as well, and since there were many people in the family, we ate a lot.

"Have some soup, it's nourishing." Ji's mother served Ji Huaijin a bowl of soup with a chicken leg in it: "Here you go."

"Our Shushu can eat meat, okay? She can't eat rice after drinking soup." Ji's mother put another chicken leg on Ji Shu's plate.

Ji Shu handed it to her uncle first: "Uncle."

Ji Huaizhi watched as his mother handed the bowl to her, saying, "Your uncle hasn't spoiled you for nothing. You're thinking of your uncle. You eat, and your uncle drinks the soup."

"Mom, stop busy and eat quickly," Ji Huaizhi said to his mother.

Mr. Ji handed the bowl over casually, but Mrs. Ji didn't even look at it.

"Eat! It tastes better when I see you all eating after I've been busy in the kitchen for so long."

Seeing that he was being ignored, Ji Fu sighed and got up to serve himself.

Ji Huaizhi smiled slightly, but his father glared at him.

“If you’re busy lately, come home for dinner. It’s not good to eat out every day because there’s no one to cook at home.” Ji’s mother glanced at her eldest son.

"Dad is so busy," Ji Shu complained softly. "Mom is busy too."

Ji Huaijin picked up a piece of fish and gave it to his daughter.

"Shushu will have to trouble you again," Ji Huaijin said softly.

“We’re old enough to take care of the kids,” Ji’s mother replied.

The family enjoyed a warm meal together.

Ji Huaijin felt a lump in his throat and found it difficult to swallow.

After dinner, Ji's mother quietly asked her granddaughter, "Did you see your mother when you got back?"

Ji Shu shook her head and then nodded: "I saw her, but my mother didn't see me and quickly got into Uncle He's car and left."

Ji's mother's heart skipped a beat.

"Who is Uncle He?" Mrs. Ji coaxed gently.

Ji Shu remembered what her uncle had told her: if you don't want to eat, you can refuse; if you don't want to talk, you don't have to.

"I don't know, it's Uncle He."

Ji's mother thought it was because she was too young to remember things: "Has that person had any contact with your mother? Is he the uncle you often see?"

Ji Huaizhi came in: "Why don't you go ask your older brother? Why are you asking the child?"

Ji's mother stood up: "You scared me."

"What's going on with your older brother's family?" Ji's mother asked him directly.

“I already told you to ask your older brother. He’s back now. Don’t ask Shushu about these things anymore.” Ji Huaizhi picked up his little niece.

After Grandma left, Ji Shu asked softly, "Uncle, what happened to Mom and Dad?"

"Did you have a fight? Because of Uncle He?"

Ji Huaizhi placed her on his lap and looked at the jigsaw puzzle on the table: "No, that Uncle He is your dad's classmate, and your dad knows him too."

"But your parents did have a fight."

"Will they get a divorce?" Ji Shu couldn't focus on the jigsaw puzzle in front of her; she just looked up at Xiao Shu with longing eyes.

"Probably." Ji Huaizhi didn't hide anything from her; what children fear is the unknown.

You could try discussing the answer with them instead of letting them guess.

Ji Shu pouted: "Would I be like Xin Yi downstairs? She used to cry all the time saying that her parents didn't want her."

Ji Huaizhi: "No, things between adults are complicated. Even if they get divorced, they are still your parents, and that won't change."

"So you don't need to worry, this is a matter between the adults."

Ji Shu seemed to understand, but not quite.

Adult matters are none of a child's business.

"What did you say? Divorce?" Ji's mother stared in surprise.

I never imagined it would be this serious.

"Yes, we've already agreed to complete the formalities next Monday," Ji Huaijin said calmly.

Mr. Ji frowned: "Why? Shushu is still so young?"

"Do you really want a divorce?"

Ji Huaijin remained silent.

Mrs. Ji stood up angrily: "Did she have an affair? And she even has the surname He?"

Ji Huaijin looked up: "Mom, don't ask Shushu, don't involve her."

“Your divorce will definitely involve her.” Ji’s mother’s voice rose a little: “When she got married, her mother praised her to the skies, and what happened?”

"To do such a shameless thing."

“I knew she was faking it. She was playing the victim in front of you, making me look like a wicked mother-in-law.”

"No, we have to strike first, otherwise she'll definitely smear you outside, and then it'll be your fault."

Ji's mother knew her very well.
